In Memoriam
(2024)

This one was painful to watch
I am so happy I finished the 8 episodes of In Memoriam. It is finally over. After each episode, I was in a bad mood. Because it did not get better.

After recent masterpieces of Quebecois tv like Chouchou and Après le crash, my hopes were high. Oh my was i disappointed. The story/plot was simply not credible. Not at all. Even the actors, which are top class Quebec actor, seemed to not believe the scenario. So many things like how the people reacted to events did not make any sense.

Ok I am done. I just have to write a few more words for my review to be accepted. I hope nobody is thinking about making in memoriam season 2. I would not watch it.

They still make those!
What a great movie I just watched. Wow. They still make those.

This movie is awesome. Some sex. Some vilains. Some disgusting. Some disgusting sex! (Yeah!) in the best castle environment you could think of. Women unfortunately have a secondary role here. Patriarchy is king here. I would love to be a boy born in this family. Be a prince. Call it a day. I loved how each feminin character (woman) is portrayed by a dysfunctional human. The girls in this movie are stupid and the guys were super-stars. Fun to say but feels different for a 2023 movie. Finally.

I strongly recommend. I loved this movie.

Virage - Double Faute
(2023)

Eric Bruneau once again
Yes! After avant le crash, virage double faute (what a terrible title) is a masterpiece once again. What a high level of quality. This contrasts so much with regular Netflix offerings. Everything is polished and subtle and a fantastic travel to the world of competition tennis. I am 42 y-o and I grew up watching watatatow. Eric was not the one shining the most. I am a bit surprised by how a super-star he became. I consider him as as talentfull and as providing to Quebec culture as Fred Pellererin (who I went to see his show las week).

Thank you so much for this outstanding entertainment. #ProductionsEricBruneau. Hihihi.

What a piece of art.
Wow! This is a top notch show. The characters (every character, even the secondary ones) are deep. The visuals ans the music are insane. Some say the story is basic. But I am pretty sure that was the goal. How to see awesome characters develop in a normal, rom-com setting. I loved it. Definitely in my top 3 best film of the year. The music scenes are masterpieces. I am a dude by the way, but I lined it was a rom-com setting. The art of the show was overwhelming the rom-com part(which was very good!). It was a praise to art in general, mostly paint and music.

Thank you for your reading. See ya.

Chouchou
(2022)

After 2 episodes. Wow.
After 2 episodes, this is super super fun. The agressor is the victim. The victim is the agressor. Is this love? Very very good. We are on the edge. Like reading a P. Senecal book kind of edge. What will happen next!

The rest is mostly filler (i am talking about my review). Please skip if you are still reading this. My review was only the first paragraph but I have to fill all this to submit it. This is insane. This is bad. I like short reviews. Where is this going? I submitted quit a few reviews. What is always that long. I don't think so. I would have quit I think. Anyway. This is a good Quebecois Serie yet. Watch it. I am loving it right now.

Vinland Saga
(2019)

Oh yes!
This is very very good. I loved it. Like Berserk. I liked the plot and ALL the characters. The Prince was my favorite. I know I am such a...

Ok I also liked the assassin.

The animation, fights and action was yum. I feel like I would choose a long spear over an axe to fight these Danes.

Le club Vinland
(2020)

Yes!
What a great movie. Inspiring, moving, never boring for its 2 hours length. Makes me want to become a one-day archeologist and go dig to find Viking treasure. To be watched!

(2020)

Shameful
What was that? I wish I did not see it. Too keep my eyes and my vision of the studio pure. I hope they will make other good movies like the ones before this.

Le guide de la famille parfaite
(2021)

Yeah! Louis Morissette
Such a great movie! The best one in Quebec cinema for a decade. When Morissette is first author, you can't go wrong. Very enjoyable.

Shadow and Bone
(2021)

Finally Netflix did it!
Yes! Keep it coming. Very good fantasy. Had to restrain myself to not watch too many episode in a row.

Fragile
(2019)

As good as it gets
Very fun watch. Keeps you guessing til the ends how the multiple subplots will unveil. Special mention to Grondin.

Jusqu'au déclin
(2020)

A powerful watch in context of global insecurity
I am proud to be Québécois. This first Netflix Quebec production was very enjoyable. I would dream to own a bug out site like the one portrayed in this movie in case the actual pandemic leads to world chaos.

La Malédiction de Jonathan Plourde
(2018)

Pretty good show.
Very funny show. I laughed very loudly many times per episode. And there is just the good amount of spooky and fantastic.

Identités
(2018)

So so.
I do not want to be too severe, but it was not a very good movie. Maybe the director should have stayed behind the camera instead of also taking the lead actor role.

Baby
(2018)

Good show
I am writing this after 2 episodes. This is a really weird show. I really enjoy it. Many scenes don't make any sense. The girl actresses are so hot they alone are worth watching.

Holidays
(2016)

Very good
Why the low critics? I loved these short films. I disagree with the ones who say only 2 of the shorts were good. I liked them equally.

Outlander
(2014)

Quite boring
I got to episode 5 of S1. Then I could not take it anymore. It is just plain boring. I wonder why it is so highly rated.

El aviso
(2018)

Pretty good
Entertaining well made movie. I pressed pause when getting snacks so I did not miss a minute, which is not always the case. It was not complicated. I liked it.

Fatale-Station
(2016)

Pretty good
Very good noir series. One of the best french canadian shows I have seen.

Sun Dogs
(2017)
