Bukkene Bruse på Badeland
(2023)

Lowest form of kids entertainment
This movie was so bad. It was really painful to sit through 70 minutes, I was hoping my kid would find it scary and would want to leave, but unfortunately we were not that lucky.

First of all, we like the books. I can enjoy reading alongside my kid, the art-style is charming and the humor is simpel but never annoying. The movie on the other hand was annoying from start to finish. It s incredibly fast cut, loud, has not even the slightest hint of a story arc and absolutely no clever jokes whatsoever. It s just 70 min of flashy images, farts, piss and (child-friendly?) violence. Next time I ll just put on a youtube reel of people farting and faceplanting and save myself the money for movie tickets.

I know it is supposed to be entertaining for small kids, but compared to other popular content for smaller kids (which is not necessarily entertaining for adults) like paw patrol, lego movies, fantorangen, frozen etc. This is in a league of its own in the most negative sense. Kids (and their parents) deserve better than this.

Blue Eye Samurai
(2023)

Good start, great middle, poor ending
The story started solid even though of course a lot of it is almost comically overused. The lone wolf, badass swordmaster travelling the country to seek revenge... Ah well, it had just enough of a twist to work, and it looked pretty.

The story picks up after a while and the fight scenes are generally stylish and well done. But after episode 5 which is a well done mix of background story telling flashbacks and a long lasting battle in the main storyline the writing unfortunately can't keep the quality up.

The badass swordmaster who took out an army all by herself suddenly gets her butt kicked by a chubby white dude who was locked inside his tower for years. A senior and a princess holding down the gates against an entire army. Muskets that can't miss or need reloading. The same white guy who knew nothing about the protagonist until now all of a sudden has all the details to her backstory and loses the final battle, well how exactly?

I even felt that the visuals in the last episode were suddenly a lot less nice. I think the open areas in daylight were not the best choice, i felt the visuals work best with some cinematic lighting (sunset battle against the claws, candle lights in most indoor scenes etc.).

It seemed like the ending was only supposed to be setting up season 2, but it didnt do it through a dramatic turn or cliff hanger, it did it by not providing closure.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 18: The Mines of Mandalore
(2023)
Episode 2, Season 3

The writing gets weaker and weaker
Why does the writing have so many holes?

Mando is desperately looking to repair the one droid he trusts, just so he can forget about it and use a different droid in a heartbeat.

The droid is supposed to scan the atmosphere of his home planet so Mando can leave his ship in case the air is not toxic. But when the droid doesn't return he just steps out and 'seals' his helmet and walks around as normal. If that s an option why did he need the droid to begin with?

And really NO mandalorian EVER checked if their home planet is indeed toxic?

Bo Katan says 'let s get rid of him once and for all' when she expects Din to land at her palace, but will risk her life to save him the next second.

It s all just so weak, it s tiring.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 19: The Convert
(2023)
Episode 3, Season 3

A written out meme
Can we have more Andor, please?

Favreau and Filoni: but, we have Andor at home

The Andor at home.

Two characters nobody cares about going through poorly written dialogue ('It s the end of the train!' - while staring at the tracks from the moving train) and doing things nobody needed to see. In addition we re forced to accept dumb stuff like them jumping off the train at full speed and landing on a small soft cushion of sorts. Yes, it s slow paced which I like if it s well written with good characters. I loved andor. I did not care for this episode at all.

I'm loosing interest in this show, it seems like they re running out of a story to tell and the coolness factor of the first season is wearing off.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
(2022)

Not even Ewan McGregor can save this mess
Obi Wan is such a beloved character, and Ewan pretty much an A-list actor, I thought they would reeaally make this a AAA series. And then this.

The forest chase, the kid-under-the-cloak disguise, the Vader-scared-of-fire, the everyone-survives-lightsaber-stabbings... and countless more moments of lazy writing to raise your eyebrows.

I think the biggest disappointment was Reva's backstory. Was it really her plan to hunt and kill innocents and jedi survivors to eventually get her revenge on someone who hunts and kills innocents and jedi survivors? That was the best they could come up with?

And she survived a hole in her body? Twice!?

Besides that, side characters are introduced and dropped without noticeable contribution to the story or character development, and the set pieces look weirdly small, dull and uninspired.

I was honestly disappointed about how little this series gave me. Luckily 'Andor' stepped in as a new hope.
