THE MASTER OF THE CARRIAGE
A SPIRITUAL ALLEGORY THROUGH PUPPET ANIMATION - MAKING OF "THE MASTER OF THE CARRIAGE" (SNEAK PEAK)
During the production of the animation film 'THE MASTER OF THE CARRIAGE', that lasted for almost seven years, our mentor suggested it would be interesting to have another look on our experience. We were doing a sort of 'pilgrimage' towards a better understanding of the very ancient allegory of man compared to a carriage. So we began to film while we were working, making little interviews, or just letting the camera open. At the beginning, we didn't feel very keen on this idea, because the production was difficult and adding a new difficulty seemed overwhelming. But today, we understand, that this approach enabled a second life to this film. We would never have thought of this eventuality. In fact, at the end of the production, there was about 30 hours of rushes. But we didn't succeed in producing this 'MAKING OF'. Surely was it necessary to digest all the aspects of this experience. Only later it became meaningful to re-visit all this material, while reviewing entirely the whole movie. The director was working at the time as an art teacher, so it took another 4 years to achieve this documentary. An interview of the film director was then made to keep a thread between the many aspects of the experience. As the film is very symbolic, we felt it was important to help the viewers understand better this approach. The circle is now achieved, we hope the film will find itÂ’s audience.
