There's been chatter online for a while that James Gunn's Superman might include Steve Lombard. While it's still not confirmed, a new behind-the-scenes photo of the movie's cast has sent speculation into overdrive.
As you'll see below, Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett was spotted alongside the cast and crew, leaving many fans convinced he's playing the Daily Planet's cocky sports columnist.
He may have just been visiting friends, of course, but the facial hair does feel like a dead giveaway!
In the comics, Lombard - created by Cary Bates and Curt Swan in 1973's Superman #264 - is a sports reporter and later sports anchor for the Daily Planet, the same newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work.
Known for his brash and often arrogant personality, Steve is depicted as a former professional football player who brings his jock mentality to the newsroom. He is notorious for playing practical jokes on his colleagues,...

Lex Luthor is one of Superman’s most iconic and menacing villains, frequently adapted in both animation and live-action, with nearly as many actors portraying him as there are for the Man of Steel.
In the upcoming Superman reboot by James Gunn, Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Lex Luthor. This choice surprised fans, given Gunn’s close friendship with Michael Rosenbaum, widely regarded as one of the best live-action portrayals of Lex Luthor.
At a recent Nashville Comicon 2024 panel, Michael Rosenbaum revealed to ComicBook that he did ask James Gunn why he wasn’t included in the upcoming movie. Despite this, Rosenbaum seems to hold no hard feelings about the decision.

Lex Luthor is one of the most popular Superman villains and one of the most menacing, so it doesn’t surprise us that he has been adapted numerous times both in animation and in live-action, having almost as many actors as the Man of Steel.
Upcoming Gunn’s Superman reboot has already cast Nicholas Hoult in the role of Lex Luthor, something that surprised fans considering that the director is good friends with Michael Rosenbaum, one of the best live-action Lex Luthors in existence.
At a recent Nashville Comicon 2024 panel speaking for ComicBook Rosenbaum revealed that he did in fact ask Gunn why he wasn’t in the upcoming movie, why he wasn’t included at all, but the actor seemingly has no hard feelings about it:

Could it be time for a familiar face to soar once again through the DC universe? Michael Rosenbaum, whose turn as the infamous Lex Luthor earned him a legion of fans in Alfred Gough & Miles Millar’s iconic Smallville series, may just have the key to unlocking his return to James Gunn’s Dcu—under one clear, heartfelt condition.
With a candid moment tinged with possibilities, Rosenbaum recently shared that he would be thrilled to play the incredibly complex villain, given the right pitch and call from his friend James Gunn. The Smallville series followed Clark (played by Tom Welling) as he learned about his Kryptonian ancestry and eventually underwent the training that would prepare him to become Superman.

Also, the series told the staggering tale of Lex Luthor and how, in hindsight, he came to be the Man of Steel’s greatest adversary.

Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó (Pieces of a Woman, White God) has signed on to direct The Revolution According to Kamo, an ambitious biopic on the early life of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
The feature is based on a script by Cold War director Pawel Pawlikowski and Ben Hopkins, co-writer of Kirill Serebrennikov’s Cannes competition entry Limonov: The Ballad of Eddie. The Revolution According to Kamo spans 30 years from 1891 to 1922, tracing the birth of one of history’s most murderous dictators as seen through the eyes of his devoted friend, ally, and henchman Kamo. The Georgian-language feature is being prepped for a 2025 shoot in Georgia.
“It’s less about a man being born evil, but about the mechanics of power and how one man rises to the top,” said Mundruczó. “But it’s also about a passionate friendship between these two men who knew each other since they were boys.

Most of Wild Wild West plays exactly in the way you would expect, as a uglier, less charismatic version of Men in Black. Sure, Will Smith still has his ineffable cool and Kevin Kline’s always lovable, even when playing a motor-mouthed and egotistical inventor. But the two just don’t click like Smith did with Tommy Lee Jones, and Barry Sonnenfeld’s direction feels forced and mechanical instead of electric. So when Smith’s secret agent Jim West and Kline’s U.S. Marshal Artemus Gordon find the secret lab of mad scientist Arliss Loveless (Kenneth Branagh), the audience feels just as unimpressed as the characters. As the exhausted duo mocks Loveless’s offerings, they ask “What has he got?” listing off his failures. The same question could be posed to Wild Wild West, with its garish set-pieces and flat humor.

Superman: The Animated Series remains one of the quintessential versions of the Man of Steel for an entire generation. However, as is the case with most animated series, some, if not all of the work is often outsourced to other countries to meet budget constraints and tight deadlines, as was the case with the first entry into the Dcau.

Lex Luthor is one of the most formidable yet fan-favorite villains of DC comics. Thanks to his unparalleled intellect and vast reach, the character has always been a menace for the Man of Steel. Superman has time and again used his strength to battle and put Luthor’s menacing plans to rest, throughout the countless issues of DC comics.

As Lex Luthor is to make his live-action debut in the newly revamped DC universe by James Gunn, to be portrayed by Nicholas Hoult, he is sure to be written after the many DC comic narratives involving the character. However, one plan of his in the comics is so diabolical that Gunn would never even adapt it in David Corenswet’s Superman franchise.

As filming for James Gunn's Superman continues, production has moved to Lagrange, Georgia, which will be the location for the scenes taking place at the Kent Farm.
No matter where his adventures took him, the Man of Steel has always returned home to see his folks in all previous Superman-based movies and TV shows, and it seems the upcoming Dcu reboot will be no different.
While they don't reveal very much, the first photos from the set have now been shared online. We're not sure if one of these buildings is the actual Kent home, as they may simply be other structures on or around the property.
"Pa" and "Ma" Kent will be played by Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.

Mads Mikkelsen...Cillian Murphy...Giancarlo Esposito...by now, we know you've seen the same old names suggested for the McU's Doctor Doom time and time again.
With The Fantastic Four fast approaching and rumours swirling that the Latverian dictator will appear in a post-credits scene, all signs point to us meeting the new Victor Von Doom as soon as next year. However, none of the popular decisions listed above seem like a perfect fit to us.
In this feature, we've rounded up several alternative suggestions who would each be suitably terrifying and formidable as the McU's Doom. Crucially, they're not the names you'd necessarily expect to see.
To find out who we think could square off with Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing as a villain capable of being the next Saga's big bad, click on the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

5 Reasons Why Superman Would Beat Homelander - Main Image
If the Man of Steel were up against The Boys' most notorious antagonist, the world would be in chaos. The question is, who would win?
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Antony Starr gave plenty of reasons why Homelander would beat Superman in a 1v1. But we beg to differ. While Homelander is a killing machine, we doubt he would stand a chance against the mighty Superman.
This article explains why the DC superhero would obliterate Dynamite Entertainment’s beloved villain.
Superior Powers and Abilities
While Homelander is insanely powerful and possesses many abilities, he’s below Superman in terms of potential. Superman is faster, stronger, and more resilient.
The character of Homelander was inspired by Superman, which is why you can draw parallels between them. However, Homelander is still much weaker than Superman in terms of sheer strength and abilities.

Henry Cavill’s Superman might have had a very short tenure, and with the Dceu closing out, it seems highly unlikely that we will see the character again. However, audiences, creators, and some critics alike enjoyed the fresh, more personal take that Zack Snyder had when it came to Superman, as opposed to the Big Blue Boy Scout image the character had boasted.

The storytelling process often blurs lines, enabling creators to weave their magic subconsciously, and this holds true for one brutal Henry Cavill scene from Man of Steel. Indeed, the film has intriguingly likely influenced an iconic X-Men ‘97 finale moment involving Rogue, as revealed by Beau DeMayo. British actor Henry Cavill has arrayed a wide range of roles in his screen career, but to the average moviegoer, he is probably best known as the most recent Superman in the four DC Comics films under the tutelage of Zack Synder. Despite his obvious physical strengths, Cavill’s performances in the dual roles of Clark Kent and the “Man of Steel” are considered by many to be more character-based than in other editions that reflects his priorities as an actor.
In fact, Cavill has taken on a number of other iconic characters in his career, from Sherlock Holmes in two “Enola Holmes” films, superspy Napoleon Solo in “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and even the mythological Theseus in “Immortals.” And while he usually portrays heroes, he’s not afraid of being a bad guy now and then, most notably as Tom Cruise’s nemesis in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

Henry Cavill’s love for video games is pretty well documented, as the actor almost missed out on playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dceu following his commitment to World of Warcraft. Responding to a fan on social media who asked when we can expect a first trailer, Gunn revealed that we're going to be waiting another while, as the movie is now "just over halfway through" shooting.

Superman may be colloquially known as "The Big Blue Boy Scout," but sometimes, he can be straight up villainous. Sure, he's saved Metropolis (and the world) more times than any individual can count, however, that doesn't excuse his moments of cruelty and authoritarian-brand of justice.
The most interesting aspect of Superman as a character derives from his immortality on Earth. Short of using Kryptonite, our measly human-made weapons never account for much damage against the Man of Steel. The only thing stopping Clark Kent/Superman from taking over the world or causing serious harm is his sense of righteousness.
While Supes, for the most part, doesn't allow his ego or greed to corrupt him, he's certainly made some questionable decisions across his nearly-90 year history. As we prepare for the cinematic return of Superman with James Gunn's "Superman: Legacy," let's remind ourselves that even our most morally straight hero falters.

While we'd expected James Gunn to cast a couple of big names as Superman's Ma and Pa Kent, the filmmaker instead chose to find two actors he felt embody the characters, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.
There's still no word on who, if anyone, will play Jor-El (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell remains the rumoured fan favourite) but we're expecting Jonathan and Martha to be a huge part of Clark Kent's story. Here's hoping neither of them meets a tragic end, anyway!
"Happy Anniversary to my favorite Kansas farmers Ma [and] Pa Kent who will be played by Pruitt Taylor Vince (an actor I've wanted to work with since I saw him in James Mangold's Heavy in 1995) [and] the delightful Neva Howell," Gunn said on Threads.
"Ma [and] Pa Kent [first] appeared in Superman #1 May 18, 1939," he added. "Clark's parents had a few names until they were formally named...

No matter how dire the circumstances, Batman is known for his unwavering “no-kill” code, which forbids him from taking a life in DC Comics. However, in Injustice God Among Us: Year Three, Bruce Wayne breaks his own rule to protect one of his dearest friends, Superman.
As everyone knows, the Joker from DC is one of the vilest, vicious, and most depraved supervillains. Nevertheless, Superman is restricted by the same code that keeps Batman from killing the Clown Prince of Crime. For similar reasons, both DC superheroes have strong moral codes prohibiting them from killing their enemies. Yet, in recent years, DC comic writers have endeavored to differentiate between the two.

On Monday, DC Studios co-ceo and Superman's director James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet's Man of Steel. The image didn't feature the hero striking an iconic pose; instead, he was putting his boots on one at a time, just like the rest of us.
The meaning behind the photo was obvious, but the delivery was flawed. Fans immediately zeroed in on the suit's flaws, including the fact that the Kryptonian sitting down meant it appeared baggy or ill-fitting in places.
Then, there was the glowing orb in the background which, for some reason, Superman was seemingly ignoring. It seems the idea was to tease the movie's villains (likely Mongul), but again, the presentation let it down.
Shortly after the reveal dropped, we asked for your opinions on the costume and thousands of you voted. Now, we have the results!
33.34% of you declared Superman's suit "Meh.

Tim Daly talked to ScreenRant about voicing Superman, who is making a comeback with the remaster of Superman: The Animated Series. Daly opened up about a host of things, but chief among them was the topic of why we need the series to come back, and why it needs the same treatment as X-Men: The Animated Series.
Superman: The Animated Series
Superman: The Animated Series is unlike the shows that audiences have gotten used to nowadays. With a slew of films and shows looking to depict an increasingly violent and “realistic” superhero universe, Daly revealed why the world could use a show like Superman: The Animated Series right about now.

After first teasing the costume at the end of February, yesterday saw us finally get a proper look at David Corenswet's Man of Steel in DC Studios and James Gunn's Superman. Unfortunately, the response has been mixed.
That's typically the case with any suit reveal, but the image makes some noteworthy missteps in its presentation that have left some fans concerned with the creative direction of the Dcu.
In this feature, we take a look at those and what the image itself reveals about Superman. From a possible villain tease to the suit's finer, possibly McU-inspired finer details, we're breaking it down for you in as much detail as possible.
So, to find out what we've discovered, simply click on that "Next"/"View List" button below...

Ever since his breakout role in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel as Superman/Clark Kent, Henry Cavill has established himself as the “King of the Nerds.” Even though his run as The Last Son of Krypton didn’t end on a high note, his popularity with fans remains ever so high.

Henry Cavill pretty much had and maintained that muscular physique right from the start, which must be one of the major reasons behind his casting and fitting perfectly as Superman in the Dceu. But things unfolded differently for David Corenswet, who will play the next Clark Kent in James Gunn’s reboot of the Dcu: All because he didn’t possess that superhero physique from the start.
David Corenswet in Hollywood.
Needless to say, this one factor affected fans’ approval of him in the role as well. However, being the absolute jaw-dropper that he is, Corenswet has surpassed everyone’s expectations through his recent revelation of how much he has beefed up to play this respective character. And unsurprisingly enough, this revelation should be enough to put his comparisons to Cavill to rest with ease.

When it comes to iconic superhero costumes, fans can be very passionate about any changes or updates that are made to their favorite characters’ looks. Recently, James Gunn’s Superman (formerly known as Superman Legacy) officially debuted its official David Corenswet Superman suit early on Monday afternoon.
Taking on Threads, Gunn shared the first look of Superman, who can be seen pulling on his boots while sitting in a chair. It is a rather strange look, though. Moreover, it has been noted that the suit appears a little baggy on Corenswet (especially on shoulders) and does not exactly appear to be the ‘muscle clinging’ type from this perspective. But one thing is sure: We have not seen this kind of linework on other suits before.

Predictably, the first look at David Corenswet's Superman suit from the James Gunn-directed reboot is going viral on search engines and social media.
However, while most comic book fans are focusing on the nature and potential origin of the costume (whether it's something Kryptonian or a Ma Kent original) it's worth noting that there seems to be a gigantic planet/ship/alien attacking Metropolis in the background.
Given that James Gunn has asserted that the main (and potentially only) villain in Superman is Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, it's something of a headscratcher to see the giant object attacking the city.
Below, we'll examine some possible identities for the floating object but we'll also caution that this could be an original creation for the film.

Earlier today, Warner Bros. and James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet fully suited up as the Dcu's Superman. Fans have had plenty to say about the costume and we're optimistic that a better shot will eventually follow.
After all, Kal-El hunched over in a chair with visible creases and loose-fitting parts of the suit surely aren't representative of what we'll see in theaters when Superman is released next summer. Well, here's hoping it's not, anyway.
Costume aside, when Corenswet - a relative unknown - was cast, many fans argued that he was too skinny to play the Man of Tomorrow.
If you still have any doubts, then we'd imagine the photo below will rid you of them. Corenswet's trainer has taken to Instagram to share a shot of the actor mid-workout and this guy is seriously jacked. He's got massive to play Superman and may even be...

Earlier today, DC Studios' co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as the Dcu's new Man of Tomorrow.
The response so far has been...mixed. Before we get to the suit, the image itself has raised eyebrows; rather than striking a heroic pose, Supes is sitting down in his incredibly expensive-looking apartment either removing or putting on his boot.
Meanwhile, a poorly CG'd explosion is taking place outside (is it AI?), a development the hero is either ignoring or hasn't noticed yet. It's a weird way to present our first look at the Dcu's Superman and arguably does the costume itself no favours.
Because he's sitting down, it's folded over in places and appears ill-fitting. Was this really the best way to present Corenswet's Superman to the world first the first time?
Gunn was clearly going for something here, though we're still struggling to figure out what.

It’s Superman!
On Monday, “Superman” writer-director James Gunn released the first look at star David Corenswet as Superman in an Instagram post.
The photo depicts the Man of Steel sitting in what appears to be a luxury highrise condo in his iconic blue, red, and yellow costume. He’s pulling on his boots, presumably to deal with the pink-and-blue comet-like burst that’s visible in the sky out the window. He may be a nearly immortal superhero from the planet Krypton, but he puts his boots on one at a time like everyone else.

What a way to kick off the week!
DC Studios, James Gunn, and Warner Bros. have officially revealed the costume for David Corenswet's Superman, the first film in the Dcu.
It looks as if Clark is preparing to lace up his boots and patrol the Metropolis skyline in the image. While sitting, it clear that this newest version of the Man of Steel will have the superhero's iconic red trunks.
The first official image of the Superman suit comes likely due to the fact that filming is set to leave the behind-the-scenes confines of the Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia and film on-location in Macon and later on in Cleveland, Ohio.
At first blush, it looks as if the suit is heavily inspired by the Superman suit from the 2011 DC Comics' New 52 reboot, with slight variations.

It’s a rather rugged costume, not as pristine as previous feature iterations, indicating the edgy take that Gunn is taking here with his movie. The film will be Warner Bros.’ fourth time revamping the DC superhero in longform (not counting big screen serials) following filmmakers Richard Donner (1978), Bryan Singer (2006) and Zack Snyder (2013).
Corenswet follows in the footsteps of such actors playing the son of Jor-El in feature films as Christopher Reeve (1978-87), Brandon Routh (2006) and Henry Cavill (2013-2022).
This is a unit shot, it’s not an overly produced CGI shot, and it’s indicative of what we’ll see in the film. Not everything is green screen, and that creates an environment that’s significantly better for the actors.

The new Superman suit has officially debuted. As filming on James Gunn’s “Superman” (formerly “Superman: Legacy”) continues, the writer-director shared to his Threads account a first look at star David Corenswet in costume as the Man of Steel. The first thing fans might notice is the suit is quite dirty and weathered, which suggests Superman will be doing plenty of down and dirty fighting in the movie.
Gunn added on Threads that the first look photo “was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera.”
Corenswet is getting the big break of a lifetime as the star of “Superman,” which marks his first time leading a major Hollywood tentpole film. The 30-year-old actor is best known for his supporting roles in two Ryan Murphy-created Netflix series, “The Politician” and “Hollywood.” His most notable film role prior to “Superman” was probably “Pearl,” the Ti West-directed horror movie starring Mia Goth.

Dceu’s planned ‘Superman’ trilogy was cut short after the release of ‘Black Adam.’ Following the post-credit scene that teased Man of Steel’s future within the Dceu, it was surprisingly revealed that the cinematic universe will be rebooted and that Cavill will be recast, his story cut short.
James Gunn then started his own cinematic universe, dubbed Dcu introducing David Corenswet as Clark Kent, a younger Superman with his own story to tell.
Fans were understandably outraged, especially since quite a lot of fans took a liking to Cavill’s brooding and darker Superman, despite the actor receiving mixed reviews at best for his portrayal in ‘Man of Steel.’ Now in a new interview with GQ, Zack Snyder finally revealed how Superman’s story would end in his ill-fated Dceu.
