Madonna is collecting her favorite club remixes, as well as some previously unreleased tracks, for a massive new collection, Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, set to arrive Aug. 19.
The new collection was inspired by Madonna’s Feb. 2020 achievement of notching her 50th Number One on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart with “I Don’t Search I Find.” In doing so, Madonna not only became the first artist to earn at least one Number One song on the Dance Club Songs chart in five separate decades (the Eighties through the...

A civic Phoenix story is promised and effectively delivered in “Asbury Park: Riot, Redemption, Rock ‘N Roll,” even if there’s little doubt that what much of the audience will be hoping for from this documentary is Bruce, the whole Bruce and nothing but the Bruce. The film satisfies a good portion of that craving with its illumination of the club scene that formed the star’s early musical life, but Springsteen gradually becomes less of the focus in a doc that nobly aims to tell the story of a New Jersey seaside town’s rise, instant fall and veeeeery gradual comeback through the prism of music.
The middle portion of the film could be subtitled “Born to Be Run Down,” or maybe “Blinded by the Blight.” Ironically enough, Asbury Park’s trajectory became pretty much the exact opposite of Springsteen’s, right about the time he made both of them jointly famous.

The famed producer behind Madonna's "Vogue" says he's getting the short end of the stick -- to the tune of half a million bucks -- because the record label's out for payback. Shep Pettibone, producer extraordinaire -- who's worked with Madge, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul and a ton of other artists -- says WB Music Corp owes him a ton of back royalties for the 1990 mega hit. It appears everything was fine up until 2012 ... when...

For any artist who came to prominence during the 1980s, the '90s were a little bit weird. The music world was rapidly evolving, and the evolutions of different formats, the introduction of new sounds and the beginnings of the Internet all had a profound effect on how top stars operated. U2 had a pretty weird decade that saw them go off the art rock deep end and dabble in disco. Madonna stretched herself even further, starring in a lavish movie musical, releasing scary concept albums about nightmares, exploring the outer reaches of dance music and, on this day in 1992, dropping Erotica, a concept album about how kinky it is inside Madonna's head.
Erotica was released during a tumultuous time in Madonna's career. It was released alongside a coffee table book called Sex that delved deeper into the singer's fantasies and desires and featured a batch of softcore photos of Isabella Rossellini,...

The Hot Tub Time Machine soundtrack. That mere title alone is so communicative of both the tone and ambition of this new John Cusack-toplined comedy that the simple sight of those four little words is all you need in order to make the call as to whether you want to see the movie or whether you think it likely to be as seismic a catastrophe for modern cinema as Michael Haneke slipping while getting out of the shower and fatally cracking his skull on the Palme d’Or he keeps on the shelf behind the toilet. Essentially it would appear that Steve Pink’s film is the episode of Family Guy where Peter and Brian journey back to the ‘80s and piss off the chicken while simultaneously inventing Rick Astley, only elongated to feature length and with Chevy Chase’s hot tub repairman supplanting the Grim Reaper as gatekeeper...
