Stupendous Tits
After dipping into the world of H.P. Lovecraft in Re-Animator (listen) and checking out an early adaptation of The Portrait of Dorian Gray (listen), somehow we’re already on our third episode of February. And while the holiday doesn’t line up, we couldn’t pass up a chance to revisit Friday the 13th (2009) for its fifteenth anniversary.
In the Marcus Nispel remake, a group of friends travel to the palatial country house of Trent (Travis Van Winkle) near what was once Camp Crystal Lake. As Trent’s girlfriend Jenna (Danielle Panabaker) bonds with Clay (Jared Padalecki) over the disappearance of his sister Whitney (Amanda Righetti), their friends Chewie (Aaron Yoo), Bree (Julianna Guill), Lawrence (Arlen Escarpeta), Nolan (Ryan Hansen) and Chelsea (Willa Ford) are being picked off one by one by Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears).

Is Paramount+ cleaning house?
It seems that every scripted series that doesn't have Taylor Sheridan's name attached is getting the pink slip.
The latest series to get canceled is Joe Pickett, which recently wrapped its sophomore run on the service.
We get it: The streaming bubble has burst.
Amid the SAG-AFTRA strike and coming off the WGA strike, some controversial decisions have been made across the whole breadth of the business.
But this latest cancellation from Paramount+ hurts, mainly because the series didn't waste a single scene.
Paramount+ recently caught heat when it promoted the season finale as the series finale before walking the footage back.
These things happen.
It happened with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin on Max, which went on to get renewed, so maybe it was a mistake.
But it doesn't get away from the fact that we're losing a gem of a series that delivered on many fronts.

Joe Pickett will not return for a third season. Paramount+ has canceled the series, starring Michael Dorman, after two seasons.
The series was originally commissioned by Spectrum in early 2021, which announced prior to the debut of season two that it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals. Paramount+ had the streaming rights to the series and seasons 1 and 2 will continue to be available on the service.
Joe Pickett followed a dedicated game warden (Dorman) and his family as they navigated the shifting sociopolitical climate of a small rural town on the verge of economic collapse.
In the most recent second season, the Wyoming game warden, played by Dorman, discovers a hunter murdered in the mountains and realizes his is just one of a series of gruesome murders. To solve the case and catch the killer, Joe must navigate a radical anti-hunting activist, a ghoulish set of twins living off the grid and his own tortured past.

“Joe Pickett” has been canceled at Paramount+ after two seasons, Variety has learned.
The drama series was originally commissioned by Charter Communications’ Spectrum Originals in early 2021. The first season aired on that platform beginning in December 2021, with Spectrum announcing a second season order in February 2022.
However, Spectrum Originals head Katherine Pope was named head of Sony Pictures Television in July 2022, with Charter announcing it would be shutting down Spectrum Originals operations in August of that year. Paramount+ has the streaming rights to the series, as it is produced by Paramount Television Studios, with Season 2 airing on the streaming service beginning in June 2023. Both seasons will remain available on the service for the time being.
“Joe Pickett” followed the title character, a Wyoming game warden played by Michael Dorman, as he investigates crimes in and around the town of Saddlestring. The series is based on the Joe Pickett novels written by C.J. Box.

Last Friday, which happened to be a Friday the 13th, screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift shared some pages from the script they wrote for the unmade sequel to the 2009 version of Friday the 13th (watch it Here). In those pages, we got to read the description of a scene where a character would have been killed by iconic masked slasher Jason Voorhees while riding down a zip line. But those weren’t the only pages Shannon and Swift shared from the script last Friday. They also unveiled a couple pages that reveal what happened to Jason’s dad – and you can read them in this embed:
Ok, since it's #FridayThe13th how about one more? Our sequel script had lots of stuff for long time fans, including returning characters! Let's reveal two of them now: https://t.co/WhNTVuo2Nx pic.twitter.com/yUdnv2L6bL

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift were the writers who cracked the Freddy vs. Jason story and pulled that project out of development hell, where it had been trapped for a decade. Six years later, when Warner Bros. teamed up with Paramount and Platinum Dunes for a Friday the 13th reboot, Shannon and Swift were again the writers. (You can hear all about that Friday the 13th in our latest Wtf Happened video.) Since the reboot made over $91 million at the global box office on a budget of $19 million when it was released in February of 2009, it was no surprise when it was announced that it was going to receive a sequel, to be shot in 3-D and released on August 13, 2010. Then the studios couldn’t agree on the money split, so the sequel was shelved… but not before Shannon and Swift had already written the full script. Today, to celebrate Friday the 13th,...

It’s never a dull moment for Marybeth and Joe Pickett.
Joe Pickett Season 2 has found them relatively safe overall, but the real surprise came when Marybeth’s investigation rammed into Joe’s.
Once again, the family isn’t safe, and in this exclusive clip, it looks like things are going to get next-level desperate.
The official longline for the episode says that, in a desperate bid to set things right, Marybeth makes a decision that will change her life forever.
During Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 8, Marybeth made a discovery that changed everything regardless of any decision she would make — Sheriff Barnum is a nuisance and a criminal.
Barnum had just made a decision to most likely off Shannon while taking her to jail.
At first, she thought he wanted her to make a run for it, and she’d be free as long as she never spoke of this...

Finding a dead body on his family’s woodpile is not what by-the-book game warden Joe Pickett (Michael Dorman) expected when he took a new job near the tiny Wyoming cowboy town of Saddlestring. But only days after settling in with his lawyer wife Marybeth (Julianna Guill) and their two daughters (Skywalker Hughes and Kamryn Pliva), he’s embroiled in a murder mystery. “Together you can tackle any problem, and that’s what I love about Joe and Marybeth,” says Dorman, who adds that the couple “look for clues together,” in Joe Pickett, the Spectrum whodunnit drama based on the bestselling novel series by A.J. Box. Little do the Picketts know, there is a larger conspiracy at work, and they soon become targets. Too bad Joe’s predecessor, the now-retired — and holding court in the local bar — Vern Dunnegan (David Alan Grier) isn’t much help. “He wasn’t a by-the-book guy.

Wine and cookies are a pair made in heaven, and so are Brooke and Tyler.
Christmas on the Vine had some romance, lots of Christmas, but more importantly, a world where small-business owners can pull off a win.
It also had wine. Lots and lots of wine.
It's always a pleasure to see some of those familiar faces, and The Resident's Julianna Guill was back on Lifetime with another sweet Christmas romance.
Brooke was in marketing and advertising, which seems to be a staple for these types of films. She returned to her small hometown to indulge in her nostalgia, visit her sister and nephew, and save the last Mom & Pop family-owned winery before they went into foreclosure.
Lockwood Crest was a beauty and a family legacy. Sometimes we don't appreciate the importance of that enough.
The best thing that could have happened to it was Brooke breezing into town,...

Christmas might not be until December, but some networks are slapping on their mittens and gearing up for the holiday season as early as October.
Families often find themselves gathered around the TV binging some of Hallmark or Lifetime’s latest Christmas-themed films, and this year is no exception. With people around the country encouraged to stay indoors and avoid crowded locations, Variety breaks down a list of feel-good Christmas movies to tune into this year.
As part of Lifetime’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” holiday movie slate, the channel will premiere 30 original TV movies beginning Oct. 23 and running through mid-December. In its efforts to diversify the stories it showcases, Lifetime said it worked with GLAAD and Cape (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) for its first-ever LGBTQ-led film “The Christmas Setup” and “A Sugar & Spice Holiday” centering on an Asian American family.
More films will be added to the list as networks announce them.

Winter Storm Megan is more meddlesome than a mom, grandmother and sister combined.
She has a much better track record with bringing lovers together over the holidays, too. Cupid could never be this effective.
Cute pilots, Nina and Brady, of Grounded for Christmas were her latest project.
Fanatics of The Resident may still be mourning the loss of Jessie Nevin, but Julianna Guill was living her best life as an adventurous pilot, Nina Rooney.
Nina, like many, struggled with returning home for the holidays as a single woman.
What is with the holidays bringing out the loneliness? Nina spent the better part of three years avoiding spending Christmas with her family because of her singlehood.
She felt like the Rooneys were couple obsessed, and ever since Ivan the terrible broke her heart the night of the Snow Ball, she felt like an outcast.
Ideally, when you're a couple, you want both families to get along.

To be honest, we don't cover enough Hallmark around here. But when the opportunity arose to interview award winning playwright and screenwriter Gary Goldstein who, unbeknownst to me at the time, has written some of my favorite Hallmark Channel movies, I jumped.
If you long for the days of romantic comedies, there is no better place to find them than on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. There's a great one airing tonight on Hallmark Channel titled "Summer in the City."
Written by the talented Goldstein, it stars Julianna Guill, Marc Bendavid, Vivica A. Fox and Marla Sokoloff. The premise is when a small town woman with Midwestern charm, is given a big promotion managing a store in the Big Apple, she tries to adopt a big city personality and it leads to disastrous results.
Realizing it’s better to be true to herself, she lets her personality shine...

Barry Bostwick and Lesley Ann Warren guest star as Abby’s parents in a new sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode of “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.” In the episode, titled “No means … No,” Abby’s (Lisa Edelstein) parents George and Dina come to town and make a very unusual request just as Jake (Paul Adelstein) is about to leave for Latvia. Also in the episode, Abby reaches out to Becca (Julianna Guill) to have a meeting at the begging of her daughter, Jo (Alanna Ubach) goes on an online dating binge and Phoebe (Beau Garrett) goes on a date with her professor Graeme.

The first trailer has been released for a new film called Christmas Eve that comes from director Mitch Davis (The Other Side of Heaven) and stars Patrick Stewart (X-Men), Jon Heder (Blades of Glory), Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Max Casella (Inside Llewyn Davis), and Gary Cole (Office Space).
I actually really like the concept of this film that centers on six people in New York who end up getting stuck inside elevators on Christmas eve. It looks like a fun holiday feel-good movie. Here’s the synopsis:
When a power outage traps six different groups of New Yorkers inside elevators on Christmas Eve, they find that laughter, romance, and a little holiday magic will get them through – and change their lives in unexpected ways. A heartless real estate tycoon (Patrick Stewart) clings to life in a precarious construction elevator hundreds of feet off the ground. Unexpected relationships bloom for...

Now that Halloween has come, gone and left us with enough nightmare fuel for another year, Hollywood is firing up the festive marketing machine in anticipation of this year’s slew of Christmas-themed releases. And so, with both Love the Coopers and Jonathan Levine’s (50/50) The Night Before muscling for the limelight, another contender has emerged in the form of Mitch Davis’ Christmas Eve.
Retaining Tinsel Town’s obsession with intertwined festive stories, the debutant trailer for Davis’ feature boasts a fragmented narrative in the vein of Love Actually or, dare we say it, New Year’s Eve. There is reason to be hopeful, however, with Patrick Stewart doing his best impression of the curmudgeonly Ebenezer Scrooge and coming around to the festive spirit, while there seems to be enough schmaltzy charm to pull in a sizeable audience come release.
That said, we’d advise watching the entire trailer due...
