Magic Power: An All-Star Tribute to Triumph lives up to its billing and features a stacked cast of musicians including Bach, Slash, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna, Dee Snider, Phil X, Deen Castronovo, and more.
The 15-track album was conceived by veteran rock producer Mike Clink, who brought in skilled instrumentalists to match the vocal talent: drummers Kenny Aronoff and Tommy Aldridge, and guitarists Alex Lifeson, Bumblefoot, Paul Gilbert, and Nita Strauss, in addition to Slash (who contributes slide guitar to the track “I Life for the Weekend”).
Among the tracks covered include “24 Hours a Day” and “Rock & Roll Machine” (both sung by Sebastian Bach); the signature title cut “Magic Power” (Joey Belladonna...

Richard Goodall, an elementary school janitor from Terre Haute, Indiana, was declared the winner of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night (September 25th). Not only did the singer win $1 million, he performed “Don’t Stop Believin'” with members of Journey.
The 55-year-old Goodall was joined onstage by Journey’s Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo, Todd Jensen, and Jason Derlatka for the finale performance, which preceded the announcement later in the show that the janitor had won Season 19 of America’s Got Talent.
Schon told the audience, “We’ve been on tour for the last six months but I’ve been watching this phenomenon. He’s an amazing singer, an amazing man, and I’m proud to be here today for him.”
After the show aired, Schon took to social media to write, “Richard Goodall won! It was great to be a part of this! Congratulations!”

Singer Arnel Pineda’s bandmates in Journey have come to his defense after Pineda received criticism of his vocal performance during the band’s recent set at Rock in Rio.
As previously reported, clips of Pineda missing some high notes during “Don’t Stop Believin'” at Rock in Rio circulated online, eventually reaching Pineda himself. He then shared the clip in a Facebook post and wrote that he was “so devastated” by his performance, asking fans to vote on whether he should remain Journey’s lead singer.
Wrote Pineda: “i am offering you a chance now (especially those who’s hated me and never liked me from the very beginning) to simply text Go or Stay right here.. and if Go reaches 1 million… i’m stepping out for good..are you game folks? let’s start…”

The San Francisco 49ers were triumphant over the Detroit Lions at Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, but thanks to the game’s halftime show performers, Journey, at least the Lions can go home with a good message in mind: “Don’t Stop Believin’”
The veterans rockers served as the halftime entertainment during Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, performing a four song-set that included “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” “Be Good To Yourself,” “Any Way You Want It,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
Journey’s onstage lineup consisted of longtime members Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, as well as vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo, and bassist Todd Jensen. The band hails from San Francisco, making their appearance at the 49ers home stadium a fitting choice. In fact, in a nod to the home fans, Journey changed the lyrics of “Believin'” from “just a city boy,...

Two founding members of the band Journey are in a legal dispute after the keyboardist performed at Donald Trump’s estate.
The band’s guitarist, Neal Schon, has sent a cease and desist letter to his bandmate Jonathan Cane, who performed their songs at America First Policy Institute’s Experience and Gala at Mar-a-Lago last month.
Caine, who is the keyboardist in the band, is married to Donald Trump’s advisor.
In the letter, Schon said that Cane had “no right” to use the band’s songs for political endeavours and that it was “harmful” to their reputation.
The band, who are due to go back on tour in January, are most famous for their 1981 hit “Don’t Stop Believin’”.
In a letter, reported by Variety, Schon wrote: "Although Mr Cain is free to express his personal beliefs and associations, when he does that on behalf of Journey or for the band,...

Journey’s new LP Freedom is arriving on July 8, and they’ve just shared their new single “You Got The Best of Me.”
“I wanted kind of a punky rendition of ‘Any Way You Want It’”, guitarist and Journey founder Neal Schon said in a statement. “I usually don’t go in saying I’m going to look for something like that, but then it just came to me, like “Wheel in the Sky” did years ago. It just kind of flew out of my mouth.”

As soon as Lollapalooza’s lineup was announced this year, fans online found themselves ogling, confused, at one band in particular: Journey. Although their legendary career needed no introduction, their inclusion at this particular festival did. Lollapalooza is known to cater to underage suburbanites and 20-somethings from the Midwest. There’s a 19-year age gap between the formation of Journey and that of Modest Mouse, the next oldest band on Lollapalooza’s bill this year. Only three other acts also got their start before this century: Jimmy Eat World, Limp Bizkit,...

A new chapter of the Journey saga began Thursday night when they played Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom. It marked the return of drummer Deen Castronovo after a six year absence, the debut of new drummer Narada Michael Walden, and new keyboardist/backup singer Jason Derlatka. Bassist Randy Jackson had to miss the show due to back surgery, so Marco Mendoza filled in for him. Journey were also joined by classic-era members Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain along with longtime vocalist Arnel Pineda.

Journey fired drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory earlier this week after alleging they attempted an elaborate boardroom coup to seize control of the group’s finances. The news was shocking to fans of the arena-rock band, but to Smith and Valory it must have felt like a horrible case of déjà vu. That’s because they were also fired in tandem back in 1985 when the group began work on Raised on Radio and replaced by future American Idol judge Randy Jackson and a series of studio drummers.

That ends in October when the band heads to Las Vegas for a nine-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Ticket prices begin at just $69, but primo seats will go for significantly more. They will go on-sale to the general public on Friday, though pre-sales begin tomorrow.

In February 2017, Journey went to Japan for a special show at Tokyo’s Budokan that featured a complete performance of 1981’s Escape and 1983’s Frontiers at the request of legendary Japanese concert promoter Mr. Udo in honor of his 50th anniversary in the business. “There’s a few songs I don’t even recall playing, like [the Frontiers track] ‘Troubled Child,” Journey guitarist Neal Schon told Rolling Stone at the time. “Digging back into that stuff has been a lot of fun.”
