Organized Noize’s Rico Wade was laid to rest at an Atlanta funeral Friday — a day that coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of Outkast’s debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik — and after the private service, Big Boi and Andre 3000 turned to social media to pay tribute to the pioneering producer who died earlier this month at the age of 52.
“Without Rico Wade… There would be no Outkast,” Big Boi wrote. “From the beginning. Organized Noize signed us. They were our big brothers, and they did a production deal with Laface Records.

At a recent college football game performance, Big Boi decided to bring out one of his pet owls with mixed results.
Big Boi, whose real name is Antwan Patton, was performing at Kennesaw State University in Georgia when the rapper went onstage with the owl, which is a nod to the school’s mascot, started to flap its wings and tried to go down to the ground.
During this accident, Sleepy Brown, who was the other performer, took to the microphone to distract the crowd. Big Boi could be seen trying to tend to the owl. A handler then came to Big Boi’s aid to take the owl away from him.
Big Boi’s affinity isn’t something new – he owns a total of four pet owls. In 2021, Big Boi showed off one of his pet owls, Hootie, in a social media video.

Big Boi bounced joyfully across the stage, alternating between rapping and singing over the jaunty piano hook and theremin-like tones. The Atlanta emcee closed the track with a dash of silliness, performing some delightful air-keyboard.

Remaking “Super Fly” was never going to be without its perils. The 1972 film, directed by Gordon Parks Jr., was one of the essential building blocks of the decade’s Blaxploitation movement, and first-time feature helmer Director X surely had his hands full balancing nods to the original while also updating his film for 2018 Atlanta. But however much the film had to live up to, the music was a whole other matter. Featuring songs by Curtis Mayfield – the title track, “Freddie’s Dead” and “Pusherman” chief among them – the original soundtrack to “Super Fly” is among the most canonical works of film music ever released.
While the new “SuperFly” does feature a few key reprises of Mayfield’s tunes, a more modern touch was provided by the prolific rapper Future, who executive produced the remake’s soundtrack. Serving as a new Future release in everything but name, 10 of the album’s...

I’ve already said that Captain America: Civil War has some of the best action sequences ever put in a superhero movie. It makes complete sense now that I know that John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch were brought in to help develop some of those fight sequences!
Apparently, Joe and Anthony Russo are friends with them, and they thought that they could bring something special to the movie with their expertise. That’s exactly what they did. In an interview with Collider Joe Russo explained:
"They did us a huge favor. They're friends of ours, and obviously, they're now off enjoying very successful directing careers, and just as friends we called them and asked them if they'd help us execute some of the action sequences. Along with Spiro Razatos, who is generally regarded as the top guy along with Chad and David,...

Artist Patrick Brown created this insane piece of Walking Dead fan art that features a rabid zombie in full attack mode on Rick. We all know Rick can hold his own against these Walker bastards. Then, of course, there’s the image of Michonne in the background slicing off the head of a zombie.
I'm a big fan of the Walking Dead and I've always wanted to do something special on it. Here's a new piece showing Rick man handling a Walker, originally I was only going to draw the two in the front but I added more going on as I went, it just felt right. I hope you like it.
With the season 6 finale airing tonight, I thought posting this art would be appropriate. I can't wait to see how the season ends!

Congratulations are in order for Laura Benanti! The Nashville star is engaged to Patrick Brown, E! News confirms. "Patrick and I recently bought an apartment in NYC and he told me we were going there to meet our contractors to talk about renovations," Benanti tells E! News exclusively of the surprise proposal. "We walked around the apartment, talking about flooring and fixtures. Then Patrick turned and said 'the guys actually aren't going to be here.' That's when he dropped to one knee and said the most heartfelt words I have ever had the good fortune to hear. I cried like a baby, and he spent five minutes trying to get the ring on my finger because we were both shaking so...

If you haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet, well, you're missing out on one of the funniest and action packed movies of the year. That said, this art by Patrick Brown doesn't spoil anything, and perfectly encapsulates the characters and tone of the film (Batista in particular is eerily accurate). Just like his other work this one features slick color effects and a plethora of dynamic action poses. It came together really well, especially since he drew each character individually and then pieced the whole thing together after the fact. Pretty impressive, and if you want to catch his other work you can see it here.
I can't state how much I want that Star Lord jacket. It just looks so damn cool.

No one ever said parenting would be easy, but how easy can it be when the state is watching you and waiting for a screw-up? Is any home perfect? Is any family? And are we holding some people to a higher standard because they have an open file with Child Protective Services or Family Court? All good questions, and before you answer yes to that last one, let’s consider the case of Patrick Brown in Seattle and Hannah Siddique in New York City, as they are the main characters in Stephanie Wang-Breal’s sometimes brutal and often heartbreaking documentary, Tough Love.
Wang-Breal introduces us to Patrick, a former drug addict who called Cps while doing in time in prison because he was concerned about his daughter Natalya and her mother’s spiralling drug use. Natalya’s placed in a foster home, but once Patrick gets out of prison, taking...

Rome, Ga. (AP) — Despite the wet and muddy conditions, the energy was high for Outkast's performance in their home state at the CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival. Organizers suspended the festival due to heavy rain and inclement weather, pushing Outkast's set back more than an hour Sunday night. But the Grammy-winning rap duo still put on an energetic show that kept the crowd jamming in the late hours. Outkast was one of the final acts to close out the three-day festival in Rome, Ga., which is about 60 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. The group, which consist of Andre "Andre 3000" Benjamin and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, grew up in East Point, Ga. "I know you're all muddy and dirty," said a chuckling Andre 3000, who was wearing a white wig and a black jumpsuit with a white X on the chest. "And I know y'all are going to want to go home and take a shower.

The legendary hip-hop duo Outkast reunited last night at Coachella. Watch the entire set and check out the 27-song setlist below. The expectations were high for Atlanta rappers Andre 3000 and Big Boi, who hadn’t performed together in eight years. The 90-minute show kicked off with “B.O.B.,” off the 2000 album "Stankonia," plus older tracks like “ATLiens" and "Skew It on the Bar-b.” Then the duo split into separate solo sets. They ended with their hit "Hey Ya!" Onstage guests included Janelle Monáe, Future and Sleepy Brown. Rapper Killer Mike joined the duo just as the 1:00 am curfew hit and the three didn’t perform the closing number, "The Whole World.” Backstage guests included Prince, who got a shout from Andre 3000, as well as Busta Rhymes, Too Short and Diddy (who updated fans on Instagram). Coachella was the first of Outkast’s 40-festival stint this summer, which includes CounterPoint,...

After tenyears apart, André 3000 and Big Boi made all our dreams come true by reuniting at Coachella on Friday night. Taking the stage at precisely 11:30 p.m., Outkast closed out the first day of the music festival. Friends like Sleepy Brown, Janelle Monáe, and Future joined them on stage, while the audience enjoyed 27 of Outkast's greatest hits, starting with "B.O.B." André 3000 performed some solo work in the middle of the set, and the duo wrapped up with some crowd pleasers, including "Ms. Jackson," "So Fresh, So Clean," and "The Way You Move." They closed out the show with "Hey Ya!", though they didn't make it all the way through the song. That's because the show was at risk of running over the festival's 1:00 a.m. curfew, and the mics were cut off before that happened. Ever the gentleman, André apologized to the crowd, adding,...

Outkast reunited onstage after a near decadelong hiatus with a jam-packed set at the Coachella music festival, their first of many performances planned this year. The rap duo headlined the first night of the music festival Friday in Indio, Calif., performing well-known hits such as "Hey Ya!," ''Ms. Jackson," ''The Way You Move," ''Elevators (Me & You)," and "So Fresh, So Clean." The Grammy winners performed two dozen tracks — seen via its livestream on YouTube — as they celebrated 20 years in music since the release of their 1994 debut, "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik." "Hey Coachella, are y'all alive?" Andre 3000 asked the crowd at the top of their set. "Are y'all alive? Are y'all alive?" "I really appreciate y'all coming out," he said at the end of the performance, more than 90 minutes later. "I know it's kind of weird 20 years later." Outkast worked the stage as they performed their rap anthems, and at times, they performed around...

OutKast, the first-billed headliner of Coachella 2014, took to the stage on Friday night for the first weekend of the Indio, Calif., music and arts festival.
OutKast Headlines Coachella
The rap duo didn’t disappoint their enduring fans, who’ve waited seven years for such a reunion. Among the old hits, OutKast performed, “Ms. Jackson,” “Hey Ya!,” “So Fresh, So Clean,” “The Way You Move,” and “Elevators (Me & You).” All told, the duo performed over two dozen tracks in a set that lasted nearly two hours.
Stage gimmicks included a massive translucent cube on to which images were displayed while Andre 300 and Big Boi rapped within. The duo also performed from a kitchen table – reminiscent of how they once came up with their raps. A taxidermy polar bear also made its way onto the stage Friday night.

London, March 4: A classified ad in a newspaper seems to show an act of revenge against a cheating husband and his pregnant mistress.
The listing offers Patrick Brown and Shara Cormier congratulations on the news that the couple is expecting a baby together - and it has apparently been signed by Brown's wife Timeshia, Metro.co.uk reported.
It's unclear precisely where and when this advertisement was published, although it seems that the parties involved could be from an area in Sabine County, Texas. (Ani)...

If Outkast isn't reuniting at Coachella 2014, they better speak up now. Billboard kicked off the rumor earlier this week and, last night, Revolt.tv confirmed that the Atlanta hip-hop duo is set to reunite for select festival gigs next year. Now longtime Outkast collaborator Sleepy Brown posted the below image to Instagram, which reads "Outkast headlining Coachella 2014." (Note: The image has since been deleted from Instagram.) A representative for Coachella organizer Goldenvoice replied to our request for confirmation with "no comment." Big Boi and Andre 3000 went on hiatus in 2007 to focus on solo endeavors. Next year will mark the...

Yesterday, Billboard published a report citing "multiple sources"; last night, Diddy's Revolt TV confirmed the news, saying that the reunion will be performances only (as in, no album). And then last night, Outkast pal Sleepy Brown Instagrammed this picture, which reads "Outkast Headlining Coachella 2014." Also, it'll be the twentieth anniversary of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. This could be real? We want to believe!

Its almost here! GTA V is just on the horizon, and in celebration of what will take up the majority of my time for the next few weeks, here are some cool pieces of art from fellow GTA fan Patrick Brown. I included an older piece of his, titled Legends 2012, as it's a nice glimpse at GTA's past. Also, its cool, so there's that. If you like what you see, you can head to Patrick's Facebook page and Deviant Art gallery for more of his work. Who is heading out to pick up their copy of GTA at midnight?...

From what I've heard, Aliens: Colonial Marines has been a severe disappointment, but fear not! I bring some fun Aliens themed Valentine's Day art to lift your spirits! Thanks to the amazing Patrick Brown you've got this wonderful (and gory) valentine to gander at and put on your respective desktops. It was a just-for-fun piece he did after watching his buddy play a session of Colonial Marines. I think it captures the spirit of Valentine's in its own unique way, and if you like it make sure to check out his gallery for some of his other amazing game related artwork.

GTA IV star Niko wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but even if you didn't love him you'll probably dig this awesome series of sketches done by Patrick Brown. The art depicts NiKo jacking (or as he calls it, Jecking) rides (be it Horse or Light Cycle) from a variety of franchises, including Avatar, Red Dead Redemption, Halo, Tron, & more. My faves are shown above and below, but he has several more on his Deviant Art page. I'm fond of his art style and I love how fun and original these are. There are so many others I would like to see. How about Niko trying to steal a Mako (hey look it rhymes!), or trying to hot wire a Claw tank from Black Ops II? Just some ideas to keep the party going.

I loved watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! It's one of those shows I wish was still around. We just don't see stuff like this on TV anymore, and it's kind of sad. Here's a great piece of Halloween Geek Art dedicated to the slayer. It was created by artist Patrick Brown who admits he hated the series until he started watching it again with his girlfriend. In fact, he reveals that it's now one of his favorite shows.
If for some reason you haven't seen the Buffy series yet, it's now on Instant Netflix and you should seriously start watching it now! It's the perfect time of year! What do you think of the illustration and its style?
