Organized Noize’s Rico Wade was laid to rest at an Atlanta funeral Friday — a day that coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of Outkast’s debut album Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik — and after the private service, Big Boi and Andre 3000 turned to social media to pay tribute to the pioneering producer who died earlier this month at the age of 52.

“Without Rico Wade… There would be no Outkast,” Big Boi wrote. “From the beginning. Organized Noize signed us. They were our big brothers, and they did a production deal with Laface Records.

Rico Wade, the pioneering Atlanta-based hip-hop producer of Organized Noize and leader of the Dungeon Family, has died. He was 52 years old.

Wade’s passing was confirmed by a representative on Saturday. No cause of death has been given at this time. In a statement, his family wrote, “We are devastated by the news of the passing of our dear brother Rico Wade. The world has lost one of the most innovative architects in music, and we have lost an invaluable friend. Rico was the cornerstone of Organized Noize and the Dungeon Family, and we will forever treasure his memory and the moments we shared, creating music as a united team. Our hearts weigh heavy with sorrow, and we kindly request privacy and empathy during this challenging period. Rico’s presence will always have a special spot in our hearts, and in the music we presented to the world.”

Rico Wade, a key Outkast producer and member of Organized Noize, who also co-founded the Dungeon Family collective, has died. He was 52.

No cause of death is available at this time, a representative for Organized Noize told The Hollywood Reporter.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of our son, father, husband and brother Rico Wade,” his family shared in a statement. “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a talented individual who touched the lives of so many. We ask that you respect the legacy of our loved one and our privacy at this time.”

Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown founded the Dungeon Family collective in the early 1990s. The hip-hop group included Big Boi, André 3000, CeeLo Green, Big Rube, Big Gipp, Khujo and, later, Wade’s little cousin, Future.

At a recent college football game performance, Big Boi decided to bring out one of his pet owls with mixed results.

Big Boi, whose real name is Antwan Patton, was performing at Kennesaw State University in Georgia when the rapper went onstage with the owl, which is a nod to the school’s mascot, started to flap its wings and tried to go down to the ground.

During this accident, Sleepy Brown, who was the other performer, took to the microphone to distract the crowd. Big Boi could be seen trying to tend to the owl. A handler then came to Big Boi’s aid to take the owl away from him.

Big Boi’s affinity isn’t something new – he owns a total of four pet owls. In 2021, Big Boi showed off one of his pet owls, Hootie, in a social media video.

If you haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet, well, you're missing out on one of the funniest and action packed movies of the year. That said, this art by Patrick Brown doesn't spoil anything, and perfectly encapsulates the characters and tone of the film (Batista in particular is eerily accurate). The rap duo didn’t disappoint their enduring fans, who’ve waited seven years for such a reunion. Among the old hits, OutKast performed, “Ms. Jackson,” “Hey Ya!,” “So Fresh, So Clean,” “The Way You Move,” and “Elevators (Me & You).” All told, the duo performed over two dozen tracks in a set that lasted nearly two hours.

Stage gimmicks included a massive translucent cube on to which images were displayed while Andre 300 and Big Boi rapped within. The duo also performed from a kitchen table – reminiscent of how they once came up with their raps. A taxidermy polar bear also made its way onto the stage Friday night.

The listing offers Patrick Brown and Shara Cormier congratulations on the news that the couple is expecting a baby together - and it has apparently been signed by Brown's wife Timeshia, Metro.co.uk reported.

If Outkast isn't reuniting at Coachella 2014, they better speak up now.  Billboard kicked off the rumor earlier this week and, last night, Revolt.tv confirmed that the Atlanta hip-hop duo is set to reunite for select festival gigs next year. Now longtime Outkast collaborator Sleepy Brown posted the below image to Instagram, which reads "Outkast headlining Coachella 2014." Yesterday, Billboard published a report citing "multiple sources"; last night, Diddy's Revolt TV confirmed the news, saying that the reunion will be performances only (as in, no album). And then last night, Outkast pal Sleepy Brown Instagrammed this picture, which reads "Outkast Headlining Coachella 2014." Also, it'll be the twentieth anniversary of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. Its almost here! From what I've heard, Aliens: Colonial Marines has been a severe disappointment, but fear not! I bring some fun Aliens themed Valentine's Day art to lift your spirits! Thanks to the amazing Patrick Brown you've got this wonderful (and gory) valentine to gander at and put on your respective desktops. It was a just-for-fun piece he did after watching his buddy play a session of Colonial Marines. Electronic Arts has announced that not only are Hip-Hop stars Big Boi and B.O.B. performing Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel‘s theme song “Double or Nothing” but they will also appear in the game as part of a pre-order bonus contact mission.

The rappers play the roles of the playable operatives Charles “Chuy” Rendall [Big Boi] and Anthony “Baker” Barnes [B.O.B.] in the game as part of the GameStop exclusive Hit-Makers Kit. In addition to the exclusive contact mission, the Hit-Makers Kit also gives players access to custom masks and weapon skins that were designed by B.O.B and Big Boi.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel launches on March 26, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Check out the Hit-Makers Kit trailer featuring the in-game Big Boi and B.O.B. below.

EA Teams Up With Hip-Hop Icons Big Boi and B.o.B...

GTA IV star Niko wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but even if you didn't love him you'll probably dig this awesome series of sketches done by Patrick Brown. The art depicts NiKo jacking (or as he calls it, Jecking) rides (be it Horse or Light Cycle) from a variety of franchises, including Avatar, Red Dead Redemption, Halo, Tron, & more. My faves are shown above and below, but he has several more on his Deviant Art page. I'm fond of his art style and I love how fun and original these are. There are so many others I would like to see. How about Niko trying to steal a Mako (hey look it rhymes!), or trying to hot wire a Claw tank from Black Ops II? Just some ideas to keep the party going.

Having seen some of his fantastic colored pieces, here's hoping these get the same treatment someday. Until...

I loved watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! It's one of those shows I wish was still around. We just don't see stuff like this on TV anymore, and it's kind of sad. Here's a great piece of Halloween Geek Art dedicated to the slayer. It was created by artist Patrick Brown who admits he hated the series until he started watching it again with his girlfriend. In fact, he reveals that it's now one of his favorite shows.
