James Gunn is currently on a tight and hectic schedule working on both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2. With both hands full and timetable loaded, fans have felt deeply concerned about the filmmaker and the fate of the two projects.
John Cena in Peacemaker
The director addressed this query on his social media platform, and it seems he is devoting more time for Superman while still making visible progress on the Peacemaker sequel. It is a tough job to handle two different projects and develop them at the same time, but that seems to be the thrill and joy of it.

Just like the first season, James Gunn has written every episode of Peacemaker season 2, but he won’t be able to direct as many this time around as he’s in the midst of directing Superman. “Yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some),” Gunn said last month. He added that that will be “three other great directors joining me for the season.“

James Gunn shared a helmet selfie on Instagram to announce the production of Peacemaker season 2 has now started.
James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad was excellent. Then again, he had already helmed two great Guardians Of The Galaxy films, not to mention the hilarious Super, so we knew he’d be able to juxtapose the violence and the humour well.
When it was announced (and teased at the end of The Suicide Squad) that John Cena’s Peacemaker would be getting his own spin-off TV show, fans were cautiously excited but also a little worried about how the character would translate into a longer format.
Well, Peacemaker, which debuted in 2022 was a hoot. From the wonderfully bonkers opening credits, which saw the entire cast do an extravagant dance number, to the even more bonkers narrative, the series was much better than anyone was expecting.

Warner Bros. Lands ‘Black Samurai’ Movie From ‘The Color Purple’ Director Blitz Bazawule (Exclusive)
In a competitive situation, Warner Bros. has landed “The Color Purple” director Blitz Bazawule’s next project, which takes on the legendary Yasuke, an African warrior who became the first Black samurai.

After impressing the industry with his 2018 debut “The Burial of Kojo,” helming episodes of Ava DuVernay’s “Cherish the Day” and working with Beyoncé on her feature-length visual album “Black Is King,” Bazawule made his major studio debut with 2023’s “The Color Purple.”

With the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ the Dceu era came to a close, making way for Gunn’s and Safran’s Dcu. It’s been known for years that the Dcu would mirror the MCU, with multiple phases or “chapters.”
The first chapter, ‘Gods & Monsters,’ was announced, with ‘Creature Commandos’ being its inaugural project. However, ‘Superman: Legacy’ is set to unofficially kickstart the new Dcu. Notably, ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 will transition from Dceu to the new Dcu, with Gunn ensuring it fits seamlessly into the canon.
Gunn recently confirmed that ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and ‘Waller’ will be filmed simultaneously. According to Pwinsider, John Cena will be occupied from June to November 2024 with shooting the second season. Cena will be filming in the Atlanta area during this time, with production expected to wrap up around Thanksgiving.

Movie-goers will know that we’ve had a surge of video-game and toy-based films in recent years, most of which have done good. There’s The Lego Movie, the new Super Mario animated film, Barbie, and more… and Minecraft, one of the most popular games in history, is slated to become the most recent addition to this list. The movie has been announced a while ago and is set for an April 4, 2025 release, and we have finally seen some shots from the filming, which is now in process.
The movie is filmed in New Zealand, as far as it is known, and while it was originally slated to start in 2023, the SAG-AFTRA strike postponed the production of the movie and while it had begun by mid-January 2024, the delays are obvious. First things first, just what everyone wants to read the morning after Oscar Sunday: stats. At this year’s ceremony — which, thanks to an earlier start time, blessedly wrapped up before 10:30 p.m. Et — 13 women won Oscars. 11 of those winners enjoyed their first Academy Award win ever. That means that, at the 2024 Oscars, nearly 85 percent of its female winners smashed one of Hollywood’s highest, brightest ceilings for the first time.
As ever, that stat comes with a caveat or two, as some of the night’s biggest wins for female stars were repeats: Billie Eilish (alongside brother Finneas O’Connell) picked up her second Best Song win for the Barbie track “What Was I Made for,” making her the youngest two-time Oscar winner ever. And, perhaps most notably, a stunned Emma Stone won her second Best Actress statuette for her work in “Poor Things,” beating out first-time nominee Lily Gladstone...

Jimmy Kimmel did a fantastic job with the 2024 Oscars opening monologue, touching briefly on politics but mostly focusing the jokes around this year’s nominees. Kimmel called out Greta Gerwig’s Oscar snub, this year’s Oppenheimer nomination being a new “high” in Robert Downey Jr’s career, and compared Emma Stone playing an adult woman with the brain of a child to the woman who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union address. Kimmel’s monologue ended with a standing ovation as he brought Teamsters & IATSE members onto the stage, thanking them for standing with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA during last year’s strikes.

Another Oscars season is over. The 96th Academy Awards have wrapped, and the full 2024 Oscars winners list has been revealed.
“Oppenheimer” had an air of inevitability about it unlike few Best Picture contenders in recent memory: IndieWire’s Anne Thompson predicted it would win seven Oscars tonight, including the top prize. And indeed it did, nabbing seven statuettes overall. But the triumphs for “Oppenheimer” at the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards, the BAFTAs, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards suggested it was the film to beat, by any standard.
“Oppenheimer” also received the most nominations overall, with 13. Its seven wins were for: Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr., Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Picture — the most of any film tonight. The next-most nominations was 11 for “Poor Things,” and then 10 for “Killers of the Flower Moon.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the first big award of the night at the Oscars, taking home a win in the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in "The Holdovers." Randolph beat out some impressive competition as she was up against Emily Blunt ("Oppenheimer''), Danielle Brooks ("The Color Purple"), America Ferrera ("Barbie"), and Jodie Foster ("Nyad"). And in doing so, she completed arguably the most impressive run of any actor this awards season.
In addition to the Oscar, Randolph won awards for her performance at the Critics Choice Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the BAFTAs, and the Golden Globes. It's not that an actor who goes on to win an Oscar doesn't win some other awards along the way, but pulling off a sweep like that is rare air, and it's undoubtedly impressive. Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the first Oscar of her career for “The Holdovers,” a 1970s-set dramedy about a trio that’s stuck at a New England prep school over the holidays.
She took home the trophy for best supporting actress on her first nomination. But in her acceptance speech, she revealed that she didn’t always see herself becoming an actor. That is, until her mother encouraged her to seek out the local theater department.

The Oscars are done for another year and Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy are newly minted Oscar winners for Oppenheimer! Overall, it was an expected and welcome result, with Oppenheimer also taking home Best Picture, while Poor Things star Emma Stone won a second Oscar, in a surprising, but well-earned result. Overall, it was the icing on the cake of a refreshingly entertaining edition of the Oscars – one of the best in years.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph (‘The Holdovers’) becomes 10th Black woman to win Best Supporting Actress Oscar
Just as Gold Derby predicted, Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”) has prevailed at the 2024 Oscars in the category of Best Supporting Actress. Backstage at the Independent Spirit Awards on February 25, Da’Vine Joy Randolph told reporters she wasn’t counting on anything major this Oscars weekend: “I’m not expecting anything,” Randolph said when asked about her Oscar chances. “I’m not betting on anything. I’m just happy to be invited into the building. To me, I’ve already won, because I’ve gained the respect of you guys. That’s what matters to me the most.”
A lovely sentiment, but it became Oscar official on Sunday evening when Randolph won the 2024 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Mary Lamb in “The Holdovers,” a cook at a private school in the 1970s dealing with the recent death of her son in Vietnam.
Co-starring Paul Giamatti (who is also nominated tonight) and Dominic Sessa, the true three-hander from Alexander Payne is nominated for a total of five Oscars, including Best Picture,...

The Color Purple star — who looks radiant in the black dress featuring a dramatic leg slit — has been working with star stylist Jennifer Austin for less than six months, but the relationship has quickly evolved from friends and colleagues to a sensibility that felt only familial.
“From the first moment, we felt like sisters,” Austin tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I had met her a few times, and I’ve always been a fan of hers, from Orange is the New Black to when I would see her performing in The Color Purple or The Piano Lesson in New York. She’s so talented and has such an incredible energy, so when my agent called to ask whether I wanted to take this meeting, my response was ‘Absolutely!'”
