A lot goes into a good performance – from research to blocking to facial expressions and beyond. But at its core, an acting performance comes down to reading lines of dialogue on a piece of paper. Many actors do their level best to read the lines as written. Some other actors, bless them, like to get a little more creative.
Television and film are filled with fascinating line readings from actors. Whether it’s an emphasis on an unusual syllable or just an outright scream, certain performers are able to make dialogue feel particularly vibrant. As pop culture travelers ourselves, we’ve come across many interesting line readings over the years. What follows are some of our favorites. Be sure to share yours in the comments as well!

“Euphoria” Season 3 has been delayed at HBO.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
The scripts for Season 3 are still being written. The news comes after a report that the show’s third season has been scrapped entirely.
Production on the show’s third season had long been delayed, in part due to the Hollywood strikes and the July 2023 death of Angus Cloud, who played local drug dealer Fez. The show has also launched most of its cast — including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer — into the upper echelon of Hollywood, making it harder to coordinate production schedules.
In November 2023, HBO confirmed that the show’s third season was expected to premiere in 2025, meaning there would be at least a three-year gap between seasons since...

Actress Sydney Sweeney appeared as Julia Cornwall a.k.a. Spider-Woman in Sony Pictures’ 2024’s Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson. Directed by S. J. Clarkson, the movie failed to perform according to the expectations of the studios. Madame Web is the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and explores the origin story of Cassie Webb played by Johnson.

Sydney Sweeney isn’t taking a break anytime soon, as she revealed that she’s finally heading back to the Euphoria set to start filming season three.
During a recent interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, the actress was asked if she was planning “to take a little time off after all this madness” following a busy past year with Anyone But You, Madame Web, and Immaculate press tours.
But Sweeney informed Horowitz that next on her plate is filming for the next season of Sam Levinson’s hit HBO series. “I go into Euphoria,” she noted.
However, she wouldn’t confirm an exact date or if she’s seen any scripts yet when asked, adding, “Maybe. I don’t know.” But Sweeney said she is excited to reunite with the cast for the highly anticipated third season.
“I always feel like I go home,” she said of the series.

Sydney Sweeney may just be the expert when it comes to puking on camera.
On the latest episode of Hot Ones, the Emmy-nominated actress shared the gruesome behind-the-scenes details of how she and Sam Levinson created the perfect projectile vomit in the infamous season two hot tub scene in Euphoria.
“There was a lot of work that went behind that,” Sweeney said, “because Sam, of course, wanted it to be just projectile vomit everywhere.”
The Anyone But You star explained that, typically, fake vomit for TV shows is made of a mixed-up paste of whatever is lying around that the craft team has access to, combined with milk and water. “You just put it in your mouth, and then you hold it, and you puke it up,” she added.
But that wasn’t good enough for Levinson. He wanted extreme vomit.
So, to meet these standards, she explained, “They had to get a pump,...

“Euphoria” Season 3 has been slated for 2025, HBO boss Casey Bloys announced at a press event Thursday morning.

Not much else has been revealed about the upcoming third season of “Euphoria,” except for Levinson teasing in August that he views the next batch of episodes as a “film noir.” The showrunner said that through the eyes of Zendaya’s Rue, he will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
“Euphoria” stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Angus Cloud, Barbie Ferreira and Dominic Fike as troubled high schoolers caught up in a world of drugs, love and crime.

HBO officially picked up Euphoria Season 3 in February 2022.
"Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season two to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart," said Francesca Orsi, executive VP HBO Programming.
"We couldn't be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season three."

Recently, I Googled a keyword associated with the media coverage of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, the millennial power couple who recently announced they were ending their four-and-a-half-year marriage on Instagram following weeks of speculation.
There was a story attributing the split to the couple’s “very different lifestyles,” with a “source with direct knowledge” telling TMZ: “She likes to party, he likes to stay at home.” There was a story, also on TMZ, describing Jonas as being in “dad mode,” taking his two young daughters out to breakfast in L.

Triple-threat star Zendaya might have risen to fame for her work on the Disney Channel, but her acting in the HBO series Euphoria made her an “it girl.” While Zendaya is the primary character in a show full of interesting, detailed portrayals, Euphoria is probably best known for its scandalous plotlines and cutting-edge subject matter. The series has received numerous awards and honors, and recently, following the announcement of an upcoming third season, more fans are hopping on the Euphoria bandwagon than ever before. While little has been confirmed about the third season, what fans do know provides a tantalizing glimpse of what lies ahead.

If you thought Euphoria was dark, wait until you see Euphoria Season 3 -- whenever that may be.
In an interview with Elle, series creator Sam Levinson said that fans should expect the upcoming season to be like a "film noir."
Zendaya's Rue will, once again, be front and center.
We'll follow Rue as she "explores what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world."
Zendaya spoke as part of the same interview, which was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The actress said she's attracted to challenging roles but feels she can't play Rue's high school years forever.
"From a character perspective, I want to find things that will push me," Zendaya said.
"As I get older, you know, I can't play a teenager for the rest of my life."
Despite Euphoria Season 2 wrapping in February 2022, a premiere date for the third season is still a long way off.

Little is known about the upcoming third season of HBO’s “Euphoria,” which has been long-delayed by scheduling conflicts and now hangs in limbo due to the actors and writers strikes. But in a new Elle cover story on Zendaya, series creator Sam Levinson offered a few crumbs of information.
Levinson told Elle he views Season 3 of “Euphoria” as a “film noir,” teasing that, through the eyes of Zendaya’s Rue, he will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
Speaking about his leading actor, whose character’s struggles with addiction are loosely based on Levinson’s own experiences, the showrunner said, “She’s the most competitive person I know, in a good way. She’s constantly growing as an artist and always seeking a challenge. She’s never complacent.”
“Euphoria” aired its Season 2 finale on Feb. 27, 2022, with its third season renewal announced by HBO three weeks prior.

Speaking about his leading actor, whose character’s struggles with addiction are loosely based on Levinson’s own experiences, the showrunner said, “She’s the most competitive person I know, in a good way. She’s constantly growing as an artist and always seeking a challenge. She’s never complacent.”

Jennie Ruby Jane said her dancing scenes in the series premiere of “The Idol” came together seamlessly thanks to her experience in K-pop girl group Blackpink.
“I didn’t have a lot of time to learn the choreo for the dance scenes. But thankfully I do this all the time, so it came naturally to me,” Jane said in a HBO featurette exploring the making of the premiere episode.
In HBO’s “The Idol,” which centers rebounding pop star Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), Jane plays Dyanne, a dancer whose professional life blends with her personal life through her friendship with Jocelyn.
When Jocelyn gets overloaded with photoshoots for her comeback album cover and an interview with a Vanity Fair journalist played by Hari Nef, the pop star takes a break to catch her breath amid rehearsal for her upcoming single as the choreographer instructs Dyanne to take her place. “Euphoria” fans might have been surprised to see the Sam Levinson universe extending into the series premiere of his new series “The Idol” with a cameo from “Euphoria” royalty Alexa Demie, who plays Maddy Perez in the HBO drama.
In the first episode of the “The Idol,” Demie can be seen briefly in the nightclub scene, as she dances with rebounding pop star Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and Dyanne (Jennie Ruby Jane) in the nightspot owned by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye). The trio dances together initially before Jocelyn peels off to meet up with Tedros, and Demie’s character continues to dance with Dyanne.

Julia Garner is still hung up on the Madonna biopic.
After being cast as the Material Girl pop icon in June 2022, the film was shelved by Universal in January 2023. Madonna, who co-wrote, produced, and is set to direct her own life story for the big screen, recently announced a world tour.
However, “Inventing Anna” alum Garner teased that’s not the end of Madonna’s biopic.
“I don’t want to tell too much,” Garner said to Entertainment Tonight. “I’m going to keep things…fingers crossed.”
Garner reportedly endured an intense audition process to land the role of Madonna. The so-called boot camp was also attended by Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, and Emma Laird, with singers Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira also having previously been considered for the lead part. Julia Fox was rumored to be cast as Madonna’s longtime friend and fellow actress Debi Mazar.

It may be 2023, but the early aughts are alive and well. The 2000s brought a plethora of fashion trends — some that were deemed so outrageous (exposed thongs, fuzzy bucket hats, extra-extra-wide jeans), once they disappeared it seemed unlikely that they’d ever return again. But as the old adage goes, fashion is cyclical, and we are currently knee-deep in the Y2K fashion renaissance. But when we think of noughties-era (the period from 2000 to 2009) style icons like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Christina Aguilera posing on the red carpet, skin-showing ensembles first come to mind, so how are we supposed to reinterpret the trend for 2023?

Though Euphoria features a large ensemble cast, it’s nearly impossible to imagine the show without Alexa Demie. The actor’s portrayal of Maddy Perez has made her a household name and inspired a number of memes, and fashion looks. Los Angeles, Jan 25 (Ians) The anticipated biopic of music legend Madonna is taking an indefinite holiday. The project, which the icon was going to direct herself, is no longer in development at Universal Pictures.
Speculation over the fate of the movie began instantly after Madonna announced a career-spanning world tour last week — one that sold out shows in New York, London, Paris and other cities in minutes, reports ‘Variety’.
Insiders familiar with Madonna said her sole focus is the tour, but she remains committed to making a film about her life one day.
While announced in 2020, development on the film lingered on through the end of 2022.
Madonna worked on two script drafts encompassing large periods of her creative and personal life. An earlier version was written with Oscar winner Diablo Cody (their writing sessions were widely disseminated on social media).
Erin Cressida Wilson took a second pass.

Madonna's life story apparently won't be getting the biopic treatment after all - at least not right now. On Jan. 24, multiple sources confirmed to Variety that the project, which was set to star "Inventing Anna" and "Ozark" actor Julia Garner, would not be moving forward after the "Like a Prayer" singer announced her world tour earlier in the month.
Since Madonna was set to direct the movie herself, it makes sense that she won't be available for the foreseeable future. According to the outlet, Madonna's "sole focus is the tour," which will keep her busy throughout 2023. However, insiders told Variety that the legendary pop star is still committed to making her biopic happen one day.
In June 2022, Variety reported that Garner was poised as the frontrunner for the iconic part, bypassing more than a dozen candidates being considered. Other Hollywood starlets who were reportedly in talks to play Madonna include Florence Pugh,...
