Kylo Ren's redemption was perfectly foreshadowed in "The Last Jedi" when he refused to kill his mother, Leia Organa. Kylo Ren's hesitation in killing Leia didn't save her from her eventual death, but it did inadvertently lead to his redemption in "The Rise of Skywalker". Leia's death became the catalyst for Ben Solo's return, and it showed how well "The Last Jedi" set up the conclusion of the sequel trilogy.

Kylo Ren's eventual return to the light side of the Force was set up perfectly in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
