The animated superhero franchise began in 2004 with the original movie, which was the sixth feature ever released by Pixar, just one year after their landmark release Finding Nemo. Although it took fourteen years for them to follow the movie with a sequel, 2018's Incredibles 2, the movie was a massive success, earning $1.24 billion and maintaining a record as the highest-grossing Pixar movie of all time until it was surpassed in 2024 by Inside Out 2.
