During a trip to Boston in 1994, ten years in the timeline after The Karate Kid, Mr. Miyagi met Julie. the granddaughter of his deceased friend from World War II. Miyagi helped the orphaned Julie cope with her anger and honed her natural skills with Miyagi-Do karate.
