Daredevil: Born Againmarks the beginning of a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it redoubles its effort to represent the street-level side of its expansive franchise. The new Disney+ series is a continuation of Netflix's Daredevil, which kicked off what later became known as "The Defenders Saga." Separated from but still taking place within the larger MCU, the Defenders Saga consisted of multiple TV-ma series starring ground-level superheroes like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and the Punisher. While these characters all operated separately, several came together for an epic crossover miniseries, The Defenders, in 2017.
The Defenders was the culmination of the Defenders Saga, bringing together the franchise's main heroes for a massive battle that none of them could have won on their own.
