Denzel Washington began his historic creative partnership with director Tony Scott with the 1995 submarine action thriller film Crimson Tide, which was a commercial and critical success and established the actor as a box-office star. Washington and Scott next re-teamed with the 2004 action thriller film Man on Fire, followed by the 2006 science-fiction action film Déjà Vu, and the 2009 action thriller film The Taking of Pelham 123.
