The second and final season of Andorhas begun streaming on Disney+, covering the final stretch of time leading up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Because of this, returning characters from the Star Wars films, such as Ben Mendelsohn's Krennic, will be playing a pivotal role in this final season. So, that begs the question of whether Imperial figures such as Darth Vader or Emperor Palpatine himself would make a cameo in the series.

Gilroy was asked as much in an interview with Rolling Stone, where the showrunner explained that he didn't include both characters for different reasons. While Vader would be too constraining of a character to write, it would be Palpatine who proved to be too heavy and influential on the series to handle, as Gilroy would say:

“No, that was never on my agenda. Writing for Darth Vader is really limiting. I’ve done it.
