• Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the least entertaining movies I've ever seen. It does have an "Animal House" wannabe feel to it, but there wasn't a single moment I enjoyed in this movie.

It's about three college guys trying to pass an exam because they are in danger of being expelled, both for their grades and their behavior. What they've been doing that is so depraved, we never see--from what we're shown, they seem mostly lame. Their upper-class girlfriends want them to pass the test and become lawyers so they can marry them and get the money. But someone hires a group of working-class girls to distract them from studying, hoping the boys will fail and lose their inheritance.

Well, it was the movie that failed. Usually, these low-grade teen romps at least are fun to watch because of how dated they seem. This one, however, didn't even have any 80's retro fun to it. I think the thing that bothered me most was the character of Margot, a scheming gold-digger. We're supposed to believe her boyfriend can't wait for the day when she finally gets intimate with him--presumably not until they're married, so she can be guaranteed of getting a piece of the fortune. The problem is, she's doing a Katherine Hepburn impersonation the whole movie which, along with her weathered countenance, made it seem like she was in her late 40's. I couldn't imagine how these college boys wouldn't be repulsed by her.

I like mindless comedies as much as anyone. I don't mind if a movie was made on a tiny budget, or feels dated because it came out in the 70's or 80's. I enjoy seeking out these forgotten obscurities. But I didn't like anything about Preppies. I won't recommend it, and I won't watch it again.
