"Boner Police: The Movie" is an American English-language short film that runs for dlightly under half an hour and was written and directed by Peter gilroy, a fairly prolific and also successful actor and this is one of his rare journeys behind the camera. But still he can also be seen in front of it during this short film. Well what can I say about this movie. The title summarizes it pretty well I guess. It is a film that with the acting and writing takes itself seriously while not taking itself seriously at all. This is a common approach, also for many other comedies, even police comedies like this one and here I am for example talking about the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine or of course Police Academy. The difference there is they have the talent in terms of both writing and acting to make it work. This short here does not. And the consequences are drastic. There are many cringeworthy moments and honestly I would not even blame the actors too much overall. They can only be as good as the material given to them. And that is not very good to be honest. Here and there, there is a solid moment, but sooner or later the film always drifts back to its key plot and this is where it repeatedly hits rock-bottom. A bit baffled by the high rating, well relatively high over 7 isn't too shabby, this short has here on imdb, but I must say I cannot share the praise at all. High school level I'd say. Go watch something else instead.
