• Warning: Spoilers
The Grand Riviera Hotel is one of the last family-owned hotel on Miami Beach run by Santiago Mendoza (Demián Bichir). During a hurricane, line chef Sky Garibaldi disappears under suspicious circumstance. Santiago announces the sale of the hotel turning it into condos. Gigi is his second wife. Alicia and Javi are his children from his first wife. Carolina and Yoli are his step-daughters. Helen Parker is the long-time hotel manager. The maid Ingrid is pretending to be pregnant with Javi's baby when in fact, it's the sleazy hotel concierge Mateo. New waiter Danny is secretly the brother of the missing Sky investigating her disappearance. He befriends Helen's son Jason.

This has sexy, sexy people. It's got a compelling enough mystery. There is a good family soap opera. I know it's only a summer replacement network show but it's good. It's not breaking any new grounds but it deserves more than 13 episodes. The only big problem is the reveal of Sky's disappearance. After all the red herrings, it's a rather flat reveal. It also gets too messy with Jason. It's like the show knew it was in trouble and started throwing more and more twists to gin up the excitement in the later episodes. Quite frankly, it should stay with the Katey Sagal character until a cliff-hanger ending. The plot twists sped up too much towards the end. Nevertheless, it's too bad that it couldn't find a bigger audience.
