I fondly recall watching this in the late 1970s ,the days of homework and 3 tv channels in the UK.
Compared to The Sweeney or The Professionals it does not pretend to be realistic or very trendy.
But that is the strength of it,The Sweeney looks even more dated than this with the endless smoking and drinking.
I could see people smoking and punching each other in my street but this drama took me round the world,real locations.
This series was the last of the ITC globetrotting hero sort of shows.
We all love the original Saint but it was all studio bound and cheap,the acting made up for these issues.
I think this series stands up better than The Persuaders for example,in which nothing happens,ever.
But The Return of the Saint is a big budget series with good guest stars.
Some of the plots are awful but some are quit hard.
