• If you like Wes Andersen , you'll like this series. If you're looking for a documentary on Nazi Germany's occupation of France and the plight of Jewish intellectuals trying to leave the country you could probably find better historical accuracy somewhere else. But the story is based on true events with amazing individuals, doing amazing things as depicted by amazing actors in a somewhat surrealistic or farcical presentation. The cinematography is fantastic. The soundtrack is great, and virtually all of the actors are wonderful. As well as the hats, dresses, masks and other costumes presented here. If you want to dwell on the bleakness of war stay away. If you want to see the absurdity of war and the ability of human beings find frivolity and joy and life in wartime this series might be for you.
