  • I don't understand why people are so hard on this short, I actually thought this was one of the better Stooge shorts featuring Joe Besser, the short had a good cast (Emil Sitka, Phillip Van Zandt, Gene Roth, Harriette Tarler), a decent script and some funny moments such as the dinner table scene, them freeing Emil Sitka's character, Larry & Joe being scared of the zombie while Moe thought they were playing charades and Larry accidentally hitting Moe in the head with a hammer and then Moe rubbing a wooden sander on Larry's head, watch Larry's facial reactions to him getting his head rubbed by a wooden sander! IMO that scene is up there with some of the best moments in Stooge history.

The short may be a little slow in parts but it does have some funny moments, this short is far more deserving than just 1 out of 10 stars, I give this short a 6 out of 10.
  • This is one of the worst Besser shorts there is. The jokes are stupid and corny. There was a funny moment or two, but that's it! In this one, Joe is as annoying as ever and only gets hit once, with a waterbag while Moe beats on Larry as much as he pleases! Sci-fi and stooges do not mix well, as proved in this clunker.

  • For a long time I'd heard about how bad all the Joe Besser-era Stooge shorts were. So when I finally got around to seeing some of them, I approached them with low expectations. And for the most part I found that they were better than I expected. I didn't find Joe all that annoying, though I could see why others would.

Now I've seen "Outer Space Jitters", and I have to say... when I heard that the Besser-era shorts were bad, this is EXACTLY what I expected them to be like.

I found this short dumb and almost totally laugh-free (although a couple of the cheap jokes did hit their mark -- barely). In my opinion it's not Joe that ruins this (although his repeated "let's get outta here" lines are unnatural and annoying). This script would not have been helped by the presence of any other third stooge.

I'm happy to report that all Besser-era shorts are not like this one -- not by any means. And I'm glad this was not the first one I saw.
  • While not totally awful, it's certainly a very far cry from being a good Stooge comedy. And that's really too bad because despite the fact that Joe Besser refused to take any of the traditional pokes and slaps that Moe used to hand out to Curly and Shemp, he was otherwise a fine comedian. Check him out in Abbott & Costello's "Africa Screams" where Joe actually has some screen time with Shemp. At this time Colombia Pictures was obviously trying to "wind up" the Stooges contract so the writing and direction are just not there for them. A sad commentary on the state of affairs for the comics at this time in the late 1950's. If you have absolutely nothing else to do, then do watch this short and you'll see automatically how things had declined for this type of comedy during the "cold war" rock and roll era of the late 50's.
  • For the longest time, this was my least favorite stooge short. The stooges with Joe Besser and an outer-space plot was always a warning sign that you were to be witness to cinematic poop. Though, fishing for something positive to say, I have had the "pleasure" of watching HORSING AROUND, which reaches to an even lower depth than this prize of a stooge short.

  • Warning: Spoilers
Combine a poor script, whiny Joe Besser, a tired Moe and Larry, almost no budget, plus some really substandard gags, and you get "Outer Space Jitters". I really didn't think any Three Stooges film could be worse than "Sweet and Hot" or "Sappy Bullfighters", but I was wrong.

The Stooges arrive on Sunev (get it?) a distant planet. There, they romance the local women, clash with the natives, are menaced by an alien goon (played by Dan Blocker, of all people), and finally make their escape. The ending has them telling the tale to their "sons", who are played by the Stooges dressed in pajamas.

This short seems as though it was filmed as an afterthought, with no consideration for the audience. Even the most undemanding fan would have to be disappointed by "Outer Space Jitters". Everything about the short is bad, and even the novelty of Blocker's presence does nothing for the film. It's really sad that the Stooges would finally be reduced to performing in this kind of shoddy production. There's nothing funny at all in this film. Save yourself 20 minutes and go do something else, but don't watch this.
  • The Three Stooges has always been some of the many actors that I have loved. I love just about every one of the shorts that they have made. I love all six of the Stooges (Curly, Shemp, Moe, Larry, Joe, and Curly Joe)! All of the shorts are hilarious and also star many other great actors and actresses which a lot of them was in many of the shorts! In My opinion The Three Stooges is some of the greatest actors ever and is the all time funniest comedy team!

This is a very good Three Stooges short with Joe! Emil Sitka, Gene Roth, Philip Van Zandt, Dan Blocker, Diana Darrin, Harriette Tarler, Arline Hunter, and Joe Palma are all in this one! This is a funny one and its really cool and is a good one to watch and is one of most different Three Stooges shorts that was filmed. Recommended!
  • The stooges are launched into space, land on a distant planet and (after the usual stooge shennanigans, save the world from alien zombies (a young dan "hoss" blocker") The only reason i give this movie a 1 is because that is as low as the ratings go. The stooges in space can be a funny idea, but to pull it off you need THREE stooges, not 2 and the very unfunny Joe Besser. Imagine what Curley could have done with what is politely a bad script. Heck, even shemp or Curley Joe DeRita could have probably salvaged at least a few chuckles. Instead we are subjected to the annoying whinning of Joe Besser. This is a stooge short ( along with just about any other Besser shorts) that even the most die hardstooge fan (and i definitely count myself in that category) could not recommend.
  • In the start Larry have a quick endorsement for the movie "Pal Joey" .
  • Thats it. Now it will be pretty easy to locate. On a good note🌐

Plz avoid playing any form of football world.🌐

Plz do not uthenize amymore mountain lions.🌐

Plz do not allow yourself to be seen by the lions.🌐
  • ...but a young Dan Blocker plays a monster here. That makes it just so much more fun. Besides, how could you have a bad Joe Besser; he played the same character through his career and if you are a fan, you'll enjoy him here. If you're not a fan...why look at the Stooges anyway?
  • OUTER SPACE JITTERS (1957) is the worst Joe Besser short I have seen so far. It's a totally weird plot. What should a caveman be brought to life on Sunev (Venus spelled backwards) anyway? Besides, the Stooges don't even wear their hair their usual funny way. The "Sunev" gag was already used in SPACE SHIP SAPPY (1957). I don't recommend this short. At least the ending was good.
