The upcoming Smosh movie isn’t the only project on which Defy Media and Lionsgate are collaborating. In addition to the film starring the duo behind one of YouTube’s most successful channels (and one of the internet’s most successful young adult brands), the companies just announced the launch of Movies on Break. It's "a curated selection of 200 films from the Lionsgate library” that are ad-supported with pre-roll and mid-roll commercial spots, but otherwise free-to-view onto a section of the Defy Media owned-and-operated Break.com website that draws over 18 million unique monthly viewers.

Movies on Break launches with 80 films categorized into a handful of separate verticals with enticing names, such as They Were In That?, Never Ending Sequels (which currently features Leprechaun 2, 3, 4, Leprechaun In The Hood, and Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood), 420 Flicks (which currently features The Stonged Age and Cheerleader Ninjas), Before They Were Famous (which currently features...

When you Google "cheerleading movies," the top hits include the likes of Bring It On (and its four straight-to-dvd sequels), Sugar & Spice, Ninja Cheerleaders, and (no joke) Cheerleader Ninjas. When you Google "football movies," the top hits include Remember the Titans, Friday Night Lights, Any Given Sunday, The Blind Side, and Rudy, just to mention a few. Why does the entertainment business see cheerleading as a sport that lends itself to comedy, while the world of football's the idea place to set a drama? Released on DVD on July 5 is the horror flick Vampire, winner of the Outstanding Feature award at the International Vampire Film Festival.

The film stars Jason Carter (Blood Ties, Revamped), Garett Maggart (CSI: Miami, Days of our Lives) and Kira Reed (Cheerleader Ninjas, The Final Victim).

Following a string of bloody murders, a real vampire is captured by a mysterious secret military unit, imprisoned in a high security medical centre and then subjected to horrific and brutal medical experiments in an attempt to discover the source of his power.

As the experiments become more gruesome, the project's doctor becomes torn between sympathy for the patient's suffering and the concern for the evil that threatens to consume everyone involved. 

Vampire (certificate 15) will be released on DVD by Stax Entertainment. Running time: 110mins.

You haven't seen Iranian Kidney Bargain Sale? Then you haven't dipped a toe into the motliest crew on record

The other day I finally got a chance to see Iranian Kidney Bargain Sale, a documentary I'd been meaning to get to for some time. Chronicling the adventures of assorted young Iranians who sell their kidneys to buy a taxi, or finance their ­education, or pay off debts, Iranian Kidney Bargain Sale is not the kind of movie that is readily available at most local video stores. But it is available – free – in the movie section at YouTube. So is a lot of other stuff.

To continue my review of my epic journey to watch all my films from A-z, this is the Third part.

For those that don’t know I am watching all 700+ Dvd/Bluray films from A-z which has so far taken me 2+ years to get to the end of G’s!

I thought I should retrospectively review each letter and give my top 5 films from each alpha block and maybe bring your attention to some films you may not have seen, films you’ve not seen in ages or films you should give another try.

Another letter and another bunch of classics I should own and a selection of ones I’m glad to say I don’t own.
