    Ouch.
This is quite possibly the worst movie of all time. Pouty New Yorkers "finding themselves." Novel idea. Cliché after cliché, "artists" yearning to quit day jobs, unfulfilled romantic interests, lovable loser friends. That's fine if you can do it well. This movie takes pretty much every wrong turn possible. I want those 92 minutes of my life back. Be warned.

One positive--Ajay Naidu of Office Space fame. Not necessarily his performance--no one gives a performance beyond pedestrian in this movie--but at least the movie's direct copy of his struggle with the printer from Office Space evokes some nice memories of a great movie.
  • So I rented this movie from the local Hollywood Video Store. I was very attracted to it by the simple cover. I read the back which didn't reveal much, but I was compelled that it was independent. I am always one to try a new independent film. This is a true independent effort. Not one of those big budget films with big stars that claim it is independent just so the sound artsy. This movie seems like a small group of friends grabbed a early 90's model home video cammera, wrote a simple plot outline, and had a lot of fun making a film. It is a pretty good movie with characters you feel comfortable with from the beggining and some charming moments along the way. It want something different for a change...give this one a look see.
  • Many movies claim that their story revolves in a "real life" atmosphere. They say their characters are "real";yet in the movie, everything seems to work out in the end."You Are Here*" is a realistic movie. The characters are just everyday people and maybe you know someone like them.Jeff Winner's introduction for the movie summed it up quite nice,he made a movie that people can relate to.When you watch it you might say,"Yeah,I know what that guy is going through.I've been there before." etc,etc..The point of the movie is this;you wake up and dread going to work but you go anyway. You waste away your day working for this company. You know there's something better out there but you are too afraid to go for it.Then one day you just snap. You break the confines of the mundane and just go for it.And in the end,you are alot happier."You Are Here*" is a great movie. One of the best independent films I've seen in awhile.A hell of alot better than "Gummo".Ugh,read my review for that.
  • I love this movie. Maybe because my life mirrors it, being a struggling artist (musician) in Manhattan. So many things distract and confuse, Secrets are hard to keep, time is passing by and my friends and I are not getting any younger. This movie captured all those feelings. The actors did a great job of being real but also sometimes extreme in their actions. The soundtrack is great and really lends the movie through an emotional journey. It is clear at times that this crew did not have the budget they might have wanted but that just makes me curious to see what this director will do when he does.
