  • A brilliant conception of thrilling experience. Kanathaya Penkutty (The missing girl) is something a nice thriller to watch. We have to consider the time when it hit on the screen then we should gain the reason to rectify some of the mistakes in it. I'm not going to point about the mistakes rather I would like to talk about my fascination with this one. It was released at the time when KG George, the great auteur doing some this kind of gems to Cinema world and here it, this one looks like George's film. But one thing has to mention about the direction. The plot, setting, and subject look pretty close to George's works but the film lack its way of representation. Straightly going through the matter through dialogues and there misses the communication through a visual medium. Anyway, the subject and the thrilling element force us to sit throughout objecting our eyes to blink because we are in the investigation along with the Police officers. The turns, twists, etc has its freshness, were the movie talks about the dark side of humanism. The derivation of human concept or humanism is revealed at the climax portion. I'm not going to spoil this writing with the exact explanation of the movie. You've to grab it and it is available on Youtube. This film does not disappoint you for sure.

Saw this film recently via You tube .Thanks to Internet i have been able to track down many forgotten gems of malayalam cinema. This is one of them. directed by perhaps one of the greatest directors of malayalam cinema, k.g.GEORGE, this tell the story behind the investigation of a murder. The victim is a school girl. she is last seen by witnesses embarking from the private bus at a junction near her house. next day her body is discovered near the rail way track . cause of death is strangulation. her distraught father(bharath gopi) identifies the body.police begin the investigation methodically and questions all available witnesses . as the case begins to reach a dead end, a twist occurs, with the appearance of a new suspect. The final revelation of the murderer will make you gasp thinking about the dark areas of the human mind. The movie gives a glimpse of how seemingly respectable people when threatened by exposure turn into monsters. Made probably on a shoe string budget, the movie has its weak spots and the available print leaves much to be desired . Still the movie is worth a watch fpr its successful depiction of the human psyche.recommended

Everything easily falls in line in Kanathaya Penkutty (The Missing Girl) but still is a riveting watch, where the investigation of a missing school-going girl leads to baffling explorations of the concept of one's school life, family, and social environment. The dialogues are humdrum as the film tries to get to the point too quickly, thereby taking some fun out of the thriller mystery that it anyway is. A good late-night watch.
  • A Girl goes missing and found dead near a Rail Track but the body was not in the Track. She was assassinated. Who is the Killer?? To find the killer, an investigation is started and the film is about how the girl was assassinated and the mystery behind the killing.

With a good Screenplay and Direction, the film stands well and like some investigative thrillers, this one has no lagging in between. All the actors did well in the film.
  • The Malayalam movie industry has always been known to produce some excellent thrillers and this movie is certainly a fine example of one such gem.

The story is simple but keeps the audience guessing till the very end !

    A must watch.
