  • this is a very good movie, with solid acting..reminds me of the movie "12 angry men" in a way that is both surprising and well presented. great movie all around, and it is shameful that good movies are not getting the support that "blockbusters" are receiving. hopefully this will change with the push for better movies all around. it is great to see actors who do not moonlight as rap or r&b stars. real actors with real chops. when one watches this movie, you get the feeling that you are watching a well written and acted, play. kudos to the writer and director. I would like to have heard the directors comments on the making of this movie, and it's place in the current market of movies today. quite frankly, movies made by and with African American actors should do more to keep sound actors in their movies. Looking for the hottest r7b star for your movie, is not unlike the mad dash to get elvis in as much movies as possible. LoL
  • 1st of all I am very shocked as to how this movie did not make it to the theaters. Absoulutly loved it loved it loved it....Definitely 10/10......It's a thriller, crime, drama, true life. It breaks your heart because this movie is so much like reality these days...Everyone must watch this movie at least 1. not only teaches you how important it is to stay out of trouble but it shows you how people live Life behind bars...100% recommend you to watch and share with friends and family... I shared it with my family and friends as soon as I saw this film and they all agreed with me and rated the movie 10/10.. Thanks to the director and all the amazing actors who made this movie a movie to remember A piece of Art....
  • EVERYONE READING THIS: GET THIS MOVIE. IT IS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. GREAT ACTING, GREAT SCRIPT, GREAT DIRECTING. Wonderful cast. This movie is so good. Full of actions and twist. The reality of this makes this movie seem like a true story. I haven't found out if it is true or not. I am telling everyone I know about this movie. For those of you that have loved ones incarcerated, its hard to watch because it seems so real but still a great movie. Its not your average prison movie, its about the strength of men. When put in extreme circumstances how they endure, how they grow, how they survive. A tribute to every man that has turned his life around regardless of the situation. Its so moving, encouraging, inspiring. I can't say enough about this movie. I'm so appalled that it didn't make it to the theaters. Loved it and will watch it again. You must pay attention to detail in this movie to understand each character.

I picked this up because it said it was based on a true story, and I enjoy movies about the strength of human spirit in adversity. However I doubt very much it really is based on a true story, it isn't possible to find any of the supposedly true life characters, and there doesn't appear to be a Mannsfield prison (although there is a Mansfield Correctional Institute in Ohio, which houses minimum security up to death row inmates). Also this is a very low budget film, shot in 14 days with some fairly amateur acting, and a very patchy soundtrack. ALL THAT SAID it is still a very entertaining story, you really want these guys to support each other and find their own justice. There is a gritty realism to the story that is more satisfying than many, the characters are strong and believable and the dialogue is mostly good. I particularly enjoyed the "boardroom scene" which allowed the characters to build on the strength of the friendship that brought them through their torture, and to discover an indomitable self worth. I've recommended this movie to my friends.

The movie introduces the Mannsfield 12 by way of a rap sheet. While this is a quick way to give us background, it is impossible to memorize all that information.

Aaron D. Spears plays Ali. He is slightly different from the rest of the gang. He is smart and just wants to do his time and get out. He is protected by the guards. A new white kid, Andrew Perryman (Garette Ratliff Henson) son of a rich man (Richard Lyonhart) has entered the Massachusetts Institute. The warden ( V.J. Foster ) is being paid $50,000 a month to keep his son from being harmed.

The warden "leans" on the Mannsfield 12 with a Black Betty to ensure he gets his money. The "12" are all in the east wing. They run things from there, including drugs and comfort girls. They get paid and the warden gets a kick-back. Perryman has started smoking crack and is paranoid, afraid of being raped by Monsta (Justice Smith). The "12" think the warden can do with less money now that he has a new income, however the warden gets greedy and demands 50% instead of the usual 10% to the dismay of Hunnit Grand (Tony Todd) the leader of group who runs things from his wheelchair. However things don't go as planned which is what makes this story interesting.

It is a good movie, but there are some plot weaknesses. Amazing how criminals suddenly become noble and honest in prison. The ending was not what I expected.

No real nudity, no real sex scenes, some blood, torture, f-bombs.
