  • When I first got this, I just wanted to see some Mech robots beat the living daylights out of each other. The first few episodes satisfied me with some heroic comebacks and punch lines, but as the story progressed the theme changes drastically, which really caught my attention. You start wondering who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? But even this is not the best part of the anime. I personally loved the way the story was depicted pictorial with as little narration as possible and this gave a whole new dimension of understanding. Yes this technique has been used countless times but I found this exceptionally good. I recommend watching this anime just for the directing alone. If you feel like watching a Mech fight Gun X Sword is satisfying. Eventually even you will be hooked on to this brilliant anime. You have been warned!!!

Van is on a mission to once and for all kill the claw who murdered his fiancee at his wedding and he meets this little girl called Wendy who is looking for her brother Michael who has been taken by the claw.

I just find the series very slow moving and sluggish, but hey at least it gets the point across for it is trying to go for. Even though Van and Ray are the only characters which are like but have a sword and a gun.

The music feels more like the 90's Batman the animated series and The flash live action show with a mix of cowboy bebop.

The dub cast was pretty good all things considered major props for casting a boy and a girl as Melissa and Carossa, plus it gave Sterling a career at least.

    My overall score 7/10
  • As of late a flood of Japanese animated series(most of them a complete crap) have hit the US soil. GunxSword is the most amazing of any one of those. It has beautiful animation, potent voice acting, and a storyline that requires multiple viewings to fully understand. Ten out of Ten. Perhaps the thing that makes GunxSword stand out above its anime competition it the multitude of underlying messages. It has some of the more obvious dialectical themes, love/hate, hope/despair, devotion/betrayal but it is also driven by a gathering of more subtle ideas (I will leave the viewer to find those for themselves. Anyone who has the time that it takes to fully appreciate GunxSword should do so. Also, if you are a fan of unjustified violence and a "Dogma" like delusional ideas then this is the show for you. For me, that is merely a bonus to an amazing piece of art...
  • GUN X SWORD (2005) is a gem of an anime, a quirky revenge space western, taking place on another planet, filled with eccentric characters, mech robotics and crazy villains. I always felt like this one was severely underrated and vastly under appreciated. It's just hella cool.

"There are a lot of crime in Planet of Endless Illusion, but people don't give up their own hope. Van, a man who watched his bride killed searches for the mysterious killer, known as the Claw, to take his revenge, however he's not the only one that searches for the Claw. A young girl named Wendy is also searching for the mysterious villain, in hope to save her brother."

Overall, this anime rocked and is one for the collection. As one of my favorite lesser known gems, I find this one to be very rewatchable as well. I loved the music, as well. The series is super quirky, humorous and just far out there. While, at first it might seem very run-of-the-mill, if you take a chance and watch the whole thing, it's really super original and memorable! Just a great show. Watch this if you are a fan of quirky, space westerns filled with eccentric characters, unlikely friendships, mech suits and loaded with a revenge plot.
  • When I first started collecting this series on DVD,I have to say out of all the shows with lots of Mecha, this one is the greatest. I want to say that this series is like a western film, and it has lots of amazing things in this show. The character's I liked in this series are:Van,Ray,and Priscilla, and the Eldora 4. But what series really explains to us is that we all want vengeance to get back at someone for what they do. And another that this series explains to us is that everybody has a different path to take, and what they must do. But however, this is one of the coolest shows to see. So if you are looking for something cool, then get this series, and you will see what I mean!

    Warning: Spoilers
Gun x Sword is a great Western revenge style anime series set on another world (colonized). The show is centered around a mecha-driving (called "armors") drifter named Van and his pursuit of "the claw" who murdered Van's wife. Van has a tag-a-long young girl named Wendy who is searching for her brother (yes, the two searches are connected). The story is fairly intricate as it progresses and the way Van and Wendy negotiate through the world they are cast out on is decently thought out.

The series has great action both person-to-person and with the robots. Lots of fun is had seeing Van and Wendy have to deal with each other's eccentricities (especially Van's issue with condiments) and alternate getting on each other's nerves and caring for each other.

The music including intro/ending pieces is pretty catchy and the animation style is nicely done.

    Definitely a series worth watching.
