  • Went in without any expectation, except a little bit of thought of being disappointed. In the end, I'm actually surprised that this movie isn't as bad as a lot of horros I've seen over time.... I know as of right now 4 out of 10 isn't the best rating at all, but I think it's a bit better than that.

It starts out slow and cliche and a lot of...questionable things happen. But I just think the way the story goes, it isn't as bad once you're a little sucked into it.

All n' all, there are better horros out there, but certainly, also worse... that's why I think this still deserves a solid 6.0 was a good watch for one time.
  • This is one of those movies that suffers from sitting on the fence between two genres, and not fully satisfying either. Really, it is a thriller with slight supernatural overtones, which are never totally explored in any depth. The acting is good throughout, although I did find the leads constant state of helplessness a little wearying. In my personal opinion, I think it would have worked better as a straight out psychological thriller, as the supernatural side didn't really add anything to the story.
  • I have no issue with the acting or the directing but the story was very drawn out and not thought out that well at all. By the half mark I had already grown patient and completely bored. At the end of the movie I didn't care about anyone not even the baby and missing kids there just was no connection to anyone or anything.

What a boring movie. Its certainly not a horror movie. Yes, if you get scared by watching kids as ghost. And not very scary kids. A young mother investigates what led to her fathers death. And gets haunted by spirits from an unsolved mystery 30 years ago. You can already begin to feel how boring this is. And the 10 rating, is given by someone who has a connetction to the movie. They have only been Imdb members for a couple of days. That is one way to find out if the review is biased or not.
  • Enjoyed it. Reasonable casting, acting, direction, script, production. Premise acceptable. Well executed. Expect common complaints that it's either too slow or too long, But for those of us who consume the genre it's better than most. Overly critical is that the lead can't quite carry the role, but then only the best actresses could, because the demand for emotional portrayal and transformation required for the part would overwhelm most.

The lead's doe-eyed discoveries after having a baby in a coma aren't enough to keep the tension this film needs to be an effective horror. The family secrets and plot twists slowly leak out instead of grabbing you.
  • Well, the movie is not a bad movie, maybe some people could find it a little long or maybe not scary enough, but is well acted.

It could be more developed in writing but for an independent movie is okay. Certainly there are a lot of recent bad independent movies so I think that thisovie is entertaining enough.

The scary parts is not well developed in a psychological way and the leading character don't allow us to care more about her, because she seems so vehement in some attitudes. The police guy is a good actor but I think his character could be developed better.

If you like a decent acting and a decent story that can scare you sometimes, you could enjoy this movie.
  • Possibly could Have been a good story but the movie is so slow and boring, does not build up tension nor suspense which I guess it was going for. So many irrelevant issues and so poorly directed that you just didn't care. At the end I just thought, what a stupid movie and I wasted my time. Don't wast your time, it is boring, slow, without satisfaction and even some of the acting is just not up to standard. The director apparently told the actors to behave a certain way but it fell flat and did not attain whatever the director was going after. I can't believe watching it they couldn't figure out how bad it was.

This really is an awful "horror" movie, it's laughable in places and totally embarrassing in others. A film with more holes than the proverbial colander, poor acting and dialogue means this pathetic farce is best left alone.
  • There's a lot of slow burn psychological thrillers / horrors floating around these days.

Some not knowing what they want to be, or what they really are?

You can go into these films having higher expectations and being sorely mislead.

'The kindred' is a refreshing example of doing everything right and not trying to over achieve.

It knows what it wants to be and with a few unexpected surprises.

Things kick off really quick and just when you think it's nearing a drag it really picks up and doesn't stop right up-to the end.

For me its the characters that really drive events, portrayed all round by some real talent. There's a lot of actors in this I really admire, some I'd even go to say are highly underrated who fit they're roles perfectly and turn in some insanely strong performances.

A slight misconception as being a 'horror' maybe, some ghostly shock moments (executed very well) add to what is more a very dark murder mystery / thriller that wouldn't look out of place next the likes of a series such as 'Luther' or an abundance of bbc / uk film successes.

That being said, for an independent UK based film it's looks well polished, well directed and executed.

The script is well crafted and well researched.

Loved the score, really adds to atmosphere in scenes.

Really glad I experienced it and highly recommended it.

Decent acting and cast , story was weak and very slow. It felt like i was watching a lifetime movie . Not at all scary . You have seen it all before, predictable and boring .Would not reccommend.
  • This film is truly garbage and really difficult to find something worse worse than this film, someone should explain to me why at the end of the film the detective core to go to warn the mother the detective is perhaps a seer? However, the film is long and boring I don't know how people do people who have not been able to understand after 30 minutes the plot of the film that was so obvious and it was already understood who was the culprit and practically everything there was to understand then the Final is truly stupid and meaningless, what I wonder and how the producers do not review such a script and full of errors!

    Warning: Spoilers
I think this movie is a result of a filmmaking enthusiast drug-dealer's way of making a money laundering front.

It's so Bad that I think UK should be banned from making from the film industry for a year after this movie!

It's so bad I think it's the writer's first trial to write a screenplay using an old version of ChatGPT.

It's the worst thing the UK produced to the world categorized with opium, colonialism and slavery!

I ran out of ideas to give, but the movie still keeps on and on and on, it's so irritating and boring, but I'm trying to be acceptant of other people's taste and preferences that's why I'm still watching.

Oh btw Johnny Sins kinda Has a cameo at the end.
  • Everyone in this film, aside from the actor playing Frank is just flat and boring. The perpetual victimhood of the lead actress and the over abundance of the lead actors teeth...it's all just too much.

There's so much scenery chewing in this film that I'm surprised there's any set left by the end of the first 15 minutes. This film is full of tropes we've already seen in other movies. This isn't a horror, it is trying to be something between The Changeling and Rosemary's baby and fails both miserably. Random creepy dead children with no connection to anything does not a storyline make.

Say yourself the boredom and go watch Rick and Morty.
  • I really enjoyed this film. If you are looking for an out and out horror with blood spurting everywhere then this is probably not for you. But if you like a film with some depth, great acting and a smart storyline then give this a watch. A great British cast to.
  • I was flipping through amazon orime looking for a nice chill outmovue and foolishly decided to watch the kindred as i love James Cosmo, Blake Harrison and the wonderful James Dreyfus.

The film was full of surprises, twists and turns and a roller coaster ride with a great climax. We had low expectation as we had not heard of it, but thourghly enjoyed it. It is worth the watch.

From start to finish I genuinely had no idea where the film was going to go- and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout! From the well crafted script to engaging performances, a creepy and emotive British horror!

Really good film, would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a film that's not predictable. A good cast, and well filmed. Some quite scary moments, when you least expect them.
  • What stands out from this Horror/Thriller is the standard of the writing, constant twists and subtle reveals throughout make for an entertaining watch. The acting is very realistic and the well known cast do an excellent job of carrying through the script. No idea why some reviews say it's not scary I was terrified throughout!
  • The was a well thought out and planned film. Good story. Good flow. Good acting. In order for me to truly enjoy a film, it has to be cohesive. This was. The ghost children were just the right amount of creepy. Nice twist in there too. Highly recommend giving it a try.
