With the Apollo 11 mission blasting off to the Moon 40 years ago today, you can expect numerous TV, radio and newspaper stories discussing past space history over the next several days. Most interestingly, a New York Times writer remembers being a witness to history in covering the Apollo program. See the link.
Fantasy veteran Willem Dafoe (Shadow Of The Vampire, Spider-man) gets heroic in his next genre gig. He’ll play greenskinned hero Tars Tarkas in Andrew Stanton’s (Wall+E) John Carter Of Mars, which will bring Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Earthborn character to Barsoom and movie theater screens.
As for The Origin Of The Species, Charles Darwin’s life is dramatized in the upcoming film Creation (soon to debut at film festivals). Paul Bettany plays Darwin. Bettany’s real-life wife, Oscar-winning actress (and Starlog favorite) Jennifer Connelly is Darwin’s wife Emma.
