Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry Reunite to Perform at Benefit Show: Watch
Image
Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry played live together for the first time in two years at a private benefit for Tyler’s charitable organization Janie’s Fund in San Francisco on Wednesday night (April 30th).

The “Toxic Twins,” as the singer and guitarist are affectionately known, hadn’t performed on the same stage since Tyler suffered a vocal injury just three shows into Aerosmith’s farewell tour in September 2023. The following year, the legendary rock band announced they were retiring from touring due to Tyler’s condition, and canceled a rescheduled tour that was set to begin in September 2024.

While Tyler returned to the stage in early February of this year at a Grammy party benefitting Janie’s Fund, Perry was unable to join him that night, although Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton did share the stage with the singer for that performance.

On Wednesday night, Tyler and Perry...

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry Reunite for Benefit Concert
Image
Aerosmith may have said farewell for a final time at a Long Island concert in September 2023, but that won’t stop Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from reuniting for a good cause. The so-called “Toxic Twins” shared a stage together again on Wednesday at a San Francisco benefit concert to raise money for Janie’s Fund, the nonprofit organization Tyler founded to help vulnerable women (like the one he sang about in “Janie’s Got a Gun.”)

With help from an all-star band, the duo performed five of their greatest...

He Said He Wanted a Revolution. He Tried to Find It in New York

A presidential candidate who plays to white grievance is almost assassinated. A Black woman runs for president. A major deportation threat hangs in the air. People take to the streets to protest bombings and genocide. Sounds very much like modern times. Instead, it’s the post-Woodstock world of the early Seventies seen in Kevin Macdonald’s One to One: John & Yoko, a documentary that dares to take you into one of the most polarizing periods of one of pop culture’s most controversial couples. It’s the movie you...

One to One: John & Yoko Review — Fractured Focus Undermines Connection
Image
Few stories about pop culture are more prevalent than the myth that Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles. For decades, it has been clear other extenuating factors led to John Lennon leaving the band, and yet the story continues to percolate. To help dispel this idea, One to One: John & Yoko examines the famous couple during their life in New York City in 1972. In the process, it follows Lennon and Ono as they mount various pressure campaigns to change the policies and politics of the era. While not entirely successful in showcasing the couple, director Kevin Macdonald paints a compelling, if overly broad, vision of the moment.

First Trailer for Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme Tells the Story of a Family Business
Image
This summer marks the return of Wes Anderson, now with an Oscar in-hand for his quartet of Roald Dahl adaptations. The Phoenician Scheme tells the story of a family (and family business) and stars Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe; Mia Threapleton as Sister Liesl, his daughter and a nun; Michael Cera as Bjorn Lund, their tutor. With a cast also including Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, and Benedict Cumberbatch, Focus Features has now released the first trailer ahead of a likely Cannes debut, May 30 limited opening, and June 6 wide release.

Despite shooting all of his live-action features, along with his recent Oscar-winning The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Robert Yeoman took a break from his Anderson collaborations. Stepping in as director of photography, as he did for the Coens...

The Four-Part Beatles Biopic Has Officially Found Its John, Paul, George, And Ringo
Image
"Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary." No, that's not the logline for the next Marvel movie, but for the four Beatles films set to be directed by Sam Mendes. It's best to clear your schedule, though, as they're all set to be released in April 2028. You read that right — four films in one month focusing on one of the most important bands in music history. If we could needle-drop "Help!" here, we absolutely would.

The frankly wild decision to make four fab films about each individual member of the Beatles was confirmed at CinemaCon, after reports last year that Mendes was giving The Beatles their own "Avengers" movies. The reveal also finally confirmed who was playing the titular band. Paul Mescal is down for Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan is Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn is playing George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson is John Lennon, if you can imagine that.

Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme Sets Summer Release
Image
Two years after Asteroid City, get ready for another summer of Wes Anderson. Focus Features announced today that the director’s latest feature, and first since being crowned an Oscar winner, The Phoenician Scheme, will be arriving in limited release beginning May 30, 2025 before going wide on June 6. This release strategy seems the director and starry cast are preparing for a Cannes Film Festival debut.

Telling the story of a family and a family business, the film, co-written by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola, stars Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe; Mia Threapleton as Sister Liesl, his daughter and a nun; Michael Cera as Bjorn Lund, their tutor. Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, and Benedict Cumberbatch are also among the ensemble.

Barry Keoghan To Play Ringo Starr In Sam Mendes’ Beatles Movies, Drummer Says
Image
Following months of speculation, The Beatles’ Ringo Starr has confirmed that Barry Keoghan is being eyed to play him in the forthcoming series of Beatles films that Sam Mendes will direct for Sony.

When asked about the prospect by Entertainment Tonight, the iconic drummer said, “I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”

We were first to report on plans for the quartet of Beatles films back in February, and casting rumors have swirled ever since. While unconfirmed, it’s believed Paul Mescal is circling the role of Paul McCartney, with Harris Dickinson to play John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn to portray George Harrison. No cast deals for the film are currently in place, we’re told.

Mendes’ vision for the Beatles film series is to make four separate, but interconnected theatrical films — one from the point of view...

Tonight, the top five couples performed two dances with hopes of competing in the Season 33 finale next week. Which couples climbed to the top of the leaderboard?

Ilona Maher & Alan Bersten Dramatically Improve For The DWTS Semifinals

During the semifinals, the top five couples performed one unlearned dance — one ballroom and one Latin routine. As always, Joey Graziadei and Chandler Kinney performed remarkably well and took home fantastic scores.

Joey and his partner Jenna Johnson earned a perfect 30/30 for their Foxtrot to “I Won’t Dance” by Erin Boheme featuring District 78. Meanwhile, Chandler and her partner Brandon Armstrong earned high praise from the judges and a few 10s as well.

But fans felt incredibly impressed to see Olympic Rugby player...

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Semi-Finals: Here’s Who’s Competing in the Finale
Image
This story contains spoilers for the Nov. 19 episode of “Dancing With the Stars”

In Tuesday night’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” each of the five remaining couples performed one ballroom dance and one Latin dance but only four earned enough points and votes to go on to next week’s finale… at least that’s how the show usually works.

The elimination came down to the two Olympic athletes: Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik… but, in a repeat of Season 32, no one was sent home before the finale. Which means all five couples will be competing in the finale.

Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson earned their first perfect score for a Foxtrot to “I Won’t Dance” by Erin Boheme. The beaming “Bachelor” star said, “Never got one of those before. Feels really good!” Derek Hough raved, “Fred Astaire is high-fiving you right now,” and dubbed it “one...

‘One to One: John & Yoko’ Review: A Revelatory Inside Look at John Lennon, in Concert and in the World
Image
I’ve seen documentaries reveal fascinating dimensions of John Lennon — films like “The U.S. vs. John Lennon” (2006), which chronicled his political activism and the Nixon administration’s attempts to deport him, or “The Lost Weekend: A Love Story” (2022), a portrait of Lennon’s relationship with May Pang. But “One to One: John & Yoko,” despite its rather nondescript title, may be the most accomplished and arresting of these tightly angled Lennon profiles. “The Lost Weekend” showed us a side of Lennon that had been somewhat under the radar. “One to One” deals with the period just before the Lost Weekend, starting in August 1971, when John and Yoko moved from their country estate outside London to New York City, where they spent 18 months living in a small apartment in the West Village. (It was after that that they moved into the Dakota.)

Lennon was out and about, digging the city,...

‘One to One: John & Yoko’ Review: Odd, Chaotic Documentary Explores a Dizzying Time for John Lennon
Image
If a cross-section of documentary filmmakers were offered access to live performances, behind-the-scenes footage and even private phone calls during a couple of years in the life and career of John Lennon, it’s unlikely that many of them would choose the period of 1971-1972. That was when Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, got heavily into political causes and made “Some Time in New York City,” an unwieldy and hamfisted slice of rock ‘n’ roll agitprop that long ago secured its reputation as the worst album of Lennon’s career.

But that’s the period that director Kevin Macdonald and co-director Sam Rice-Edwards had to work with to make “One to One: John & Yoko,” which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Friday and will also play in Telluride this weekend. The filmmakers have managed to make a bracing, scattered and somewhat revelatory look at...

Incubus Kick Off “Morning View + the Hits Tour” in Detroit: See Photos, Setlist
Image
Incubus kicked off their 2024 “Morning View + the Hits Tour” in Detroit, Michigan over the weekend, where they played their 2001 album Morning View in full. The tour comes on the heels of Morning View Xxiii, a re-recorded version of the album that arrived back in May.

Incubus intended to have their 20th anniversary Morning View celebration in 2021, but the pandemic had other plans — instead of the full-fledged tour they’ve now finally embarked on, Incubus held a special livestreamed performance at the house that Morning View was recorded at in October 2021.

The group also commemorated the album with a hometown performance at the Hollywood Bowl last fall, where Lizzo appeared as a guest to play flute on closing track “Aqueous Transmission.” They previously brought their 1999 breakout LP Make Yourself on tour to celebrate that album’s 20th birthday in 2019 — now, it’s Morning View’s turn.

Cruella Soundtrack Guide: Every Song In The Movie
Image
The Cruella soundtrack is a mix of classic and modern songs that match the 1970s setting of the film. The music enhances Cruella's character transformation from a rebellious young girl to a powerful fashion icon. The soundtrack features various genres and artists, contributing to the movie's fun and engaging atmosphere.

The Cruella soundtrack is a memorable one compiling hits from the 1960s and '70s, but the officially released Cruella soundtrack doesn't include all the music that's in the movie. Emma Stone's hugely entertaining performance as Cruella is perfectly accompanied by a compelling blend of rock, R&b, pop, and punk music. Cruella achieves a lot through the selection of music that soundtracks it, as more than 30 songs released throughout the 1960s and '70s feature in the movie. They range from classic funk to feminist power ballads, and the soundtrack is able to create a strong sense of time and place.

Per the official description, the currently untitled series “centers on Segura, who also serves as the show’s narrator, as he takes us through each episode in a series of vignettes. Wes Anderson Teams with Cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel for The Phoenician Scheme
Image
Outside of perhaps Steven Spielberg and Janusz Kamiński, there may be no director-cinematographer collaboration that’s more extensive in modern-day cinema than that of Wes Anderson and Robert Yeoman. Having shot all of his live-action features, along with his recent Oscar-winning The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Yeoman is now taking a break for Anderson’s next feature The Phoenician Scheme.

Stepping in as director of photography, as he did for the Coens when Roger Deakins wasn’t available for Inside Llewyn Davis, is Bruno Delbonnel, who also shot Amélie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Across the Universe, and The Tragedy of Macbeth. However, it won’t be the first time the cinematographer has worked with Wes Anderson, as he shot his H&m holiday ad “Come Together” and even briefly appeared in The French Dispatch.

Co-written by Roman Coppola and Wes Anderson, this new film stars Benicio Del Toro,...

Gary Clark Jr. is Way Beyond the Blues on ‘Jpeg Raw’

Anointed a blues-guitar prodigy before he was old enough to drive, 40-year old Austin, Texas, native Gary Clark Jr. has spent much of his career thinking outside his primary genre, and his latest, Jpeg Raw, sounds more than ever like the music Clark wants to make rather than the music folks think he makes.

Since as early on as his second album, the underrated 2015 collection The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, Clark has embraced everything from fuzzy rock to funk to Prince-ly psychedelia. Jpeg Raw continues his never-ending quest for new fire,...

Bush Announce Greatest Hits Compilation, Share New Song “Nowhere to Go But Everywhere”: Stream
Image
Bush have announced a career-spanning greatest hits compilation, Loaded: The Greatest Hits 1994-2023, out November 10th via Round Hill Records.

The UK alt-rockers shared the news alongside a new song that’s included on the comp entitled “Nowhere to Go But Everywhere” — the namesake of the group’s North American tour this fall. The track is a heavy grunger with surging power chords and a standout vocal performance from frontman Gavin Rossdale.

The rest of the collection will cull from Bush’s extensive back catalog, with the tracklist flowing chronologically from the band’s ’90s glory days up through its prolific post-2010 output following the 2011 comeback effort, The Sea of Memories.

“I’m really grateful that I get the chance to make music after all of this time,” Gavin Rossdale commented in a press release. “The privilege is not lost on me. I’m still in the octagon, and I...

How ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ Became a Real (Fake) Band
Image
Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin arrived at his final audition to play fictional 1970s rock star Billy Dunne without, by his own admission, the strongest grasp on the type of musician he was expected to embody.

His future showrunners had already taken a shine to the dimpled British actor, as had music supervisor Frankie Pine and producer Hello Sunshine’s president Lauren Neustadter, but one last hurdle remained before he could land the male lead in Amazon’s hot adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. He had to sing live for the project’s music producers, Blake Mills and Tony Berg. Pine gave Claflin a shot of moonshine to soothe his nerves. The actor entered the storied halls of Sound City Studios, the Van Nuys building where Mick Fleetwood first met Lindsey Buckingham, and proceeded to kind of blow it. “I had prepared Elton John’s ‘Your Song,...

Emmy Rossum Shares How She Feels About Playing Tom Holland’s Mom In ‘The Crowded Room’
Image
Emmy Rossum spoke about playing Tom Holland’s mother in “The Crowded Room” during a chat with Et Canada’s Morgan Hoffman.

Rossum is 36 years old in real life, while Holland is 27, meaning there’s just a nine-year age gap.

However, the actress told Hoffman the casting makes sense, sharing: “You know, when I read the script, I was so moved by the mother-son relationship.

“We watch this character, you know, as a really kind of… has this childish energy herself. She’s a young 25-year-old mom with an 8-year-old son, a single mom working two jobs, trying her best to love and protect a child who is full of creativity and imagination, but a little bit different.

“And we watch over time, over 10 years as their relationship erodes. And there’s an incredible poignancy and sadness,” she continued.

The Voice Recap: Night 1 of Season 23's Playoffs Sends Six Singers Packing
Image
Given the frequency with which the coaches on The Voice make decisions that leave us howling, it was with some trepidation that I sat down to watch Monday’s episode. Since the Playoffs weren’t live this season, that meant that viewers would have no say in their outcome, and it would be entirely up to Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan to choose which contestants stay and which contestants go. And three out of five members of each team were going to be cut. “That is super Hunger Games,” Kelly observed. Was I — and possibly...

Ken Bruce: How ex-bbc DJ introduced his new Greatest Hits Radio show
Image
Ken Bruce announced a “brand new start” as he launched his Greatest Hits Radio show.

The veteran DJ left BBC Radio 2 after 31 years last month, where he presented the 9.30am to 12pm show.

On Monday (3 April), he began his new stint with the Bauer station, where he will host the 10am to 1pm show – something he has admitted “struggling” to get used to.

Bruce immediately addressed his inherited listeners who have followed him from the BBC. For his final Radio 2 show, he closed out with “The End”, which is the penultimate song on Beatles record Abbey Road.

His opening song choice for Greatest Hits Radio was designed specifically for them.

“Last time we spoke we had ‘The End’ and now, together, we’re going back to the beginning for a brand new start,” he said, before playing Abbey Road album opener “Come Together”.

Sam Claflin Looks Back On Making A Name For Himself As The Shirtless Hunk
Image
Sam Claflin reflects on making a name for himself as the shirtless hunk in a new interview with GQ Hype.

The actor, who is now starring in Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & The Six”, knows he spent years appealing to a certain audience.

The magazine points out, “If your sister fancied a blond character in a movie between 2011 and 2016, there is an approximately 40 per cent chance it was Sam Claflin.”

Claflin responds, “I think I was on the ‘upcoming hot under-30-year-olds list’ for like ten years and I was like, ‘I’m still not coming.’

“A lot of guys recognize me because their girlfriends have forced them to watch something I’m in.”

Sam Claflin Recalls Singing Elton John’s ‘Your Song’ ‘Terribly’ For ‘Daisy Jones’ Audition
Image
Sam Claflin says his audition for “Daisy Jones & The Six” couldn’t have gone worse.

Speaking with Variety about the upcoming series, the actor, who plays lead singer Billy Dunne, says he landed the role despite his “terrible” song performance.

Based on the book of the same name, it follows the rise and fall of a Fleetwood Mac-like band the Six.

As Claflin was preparing for the audition, he learned he would have to a sing a ’70s rock song. The U.K. native admitted he wasn’t a big music fan and chose something from the Apple Music app.

“I went into a recording studio for the first time in my life, confronted with a microphone and people watching me in a fishbowl,” Claflin recalled. “I sang Elton John’s ‘Your Song.’ Terribly.”

Sam Claflin Finds His Voice: How the ‘Hunger Games’ Scene-Stealer Became a Rock Star in ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’
Image
Sam Claflin was preparing to audition for the role of Billy Dunne in “Daisy Jones & the Six,” the Prime Video adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel about a fictional 1970s rock band, he was told he’d have to sing a ’70s rock song. The trouble was, Claflin, a U.K.-born actor who admits music has never been his thing, didn’t know any. So he scoured the Apple Music app for a genre playlist and chose the only track he felt comfortable with.

“I went into a recording studio for the first time in my life, confronted with a microphone and people watching me in a fishbowl,” Claflin says. “I sang Elton John’s ‘Your Song.’ Terribly.”

Meeting for matcha lattes in West Hollywood, I’m almost taken aback by Claflin’s instant, overwhelming warmth. There’s no need to ease into things — Claflin doesn...

Dizzee Rascal song removed from King’s coronation playlist, after it was included in ‘error’
Image
A Dizzee Rascal song has been removed from a government playlist after it was added in “error” following his assault conviction.

The rapper, whose real name is Dylan Mills, had his song “Dance Wiv Me”. featuring Calvin Harris, added to the new playlist, which was created to celebrate the King’s coronation in May.

The playlist addition comes shortly after the grime artist was found guilty of assaulting his ex-fiancé Cassandra Jones. The trial found him guilty in April, and he lost his appeal last week.

The song has now been removed from the playlist, says a spokesperson for the Dcms.

“The playlist has been created to celebrate British and Commonwealth artists ahead of the upcoming coronation,” said the Dcms in response to The Independent.

“A track featuring Dizzee Rascal was included in error and as soon as this was identified it was removed.”

The 38-year-old was found guilty of...

Demi Lovato review, Holy Fvck: A hard rock, horny rebirth album
Image
The art of the pop confessional album has been honed to perfection: Adele, Beyoncé, Olivia Rodrigo, Selena Gomez and countless others have reaped the artistic and commercial rewards of airing your dirty laundry from the top of the charts. On her road from tween Disney star to anguished R&b/country pop survivor, Demi Lovato has had a lot to process on record; last year’s Dancing with the Devil…The Art of Starting Over confronted her near fatal 2018 drug overdose and recovery, her battles with bulimia and the gender exploration that has seen her change her pronouns to them/they and back again in recent years. Now, as if her demons are still gnawing their way out more ferociously than ever, she’s turned to hard rock to exorcise them better. The fact that it’s a genre more suited to festival headline sets is merely fortune smiling.

She certainly goes all-in,...
