  • Rarely this isn't heavily soapy which I found unusual for a Brazilian production The English dubbing is much better than usual.

I watched both series in a week

Both season have pretty heavy content matter so use discretion.

Lead female carries both series well, however some of the support pails in comparison. Never the less it's worth a watch, doesn't get bogged down as these type often do.
  • Good morning, Veronica is a very nice Brazilian surprise on Netflix. With a good quality script, aided by the excellent criminologist and writer Ilana Casoy, the series features some very credible characters such as the psychopath Brandão and his abused wife, Janete. The direction is convincing, but there is certainly room for improvement. Brazilian crime dramas still suffer a bit, specially in the action scenes and here this can be noticed at times. Not top notch, but good enough. The cast is somewhat uneven. Du Moscovis and Carmila Morgado, in the roles of the problematic couple, are extremely good and convincing. The protagonist, Tainá Müller, feels very restrained and sometimes fails to demonstrate the expected emotions, especially in her family sequences. But she shows some growth throughout the series, improving at the end. Some other actors are ok, but the other policemen and criminals offer nothing more than overacting caricatures, resembling bad characters from soap operas. In general, despite having points which can be improved, it is a very interesting series that is worth watching. Just give it a chance.
  • Warning: Spoilers
A sensible series raising a gripping subject with very good acting, especially by Camila Morgado, Eduardo Moscovis and Tainá Müller, but lacking true horrifying suspense. To its detriment it has bad editing, back and forth plots & storylines and a somewhat melodramatic tone, ruining the real sensations and unpleasant experience that viewers should feel.

Heroine or vigilante, not credible IMO and the first chapter wasn't supposed to finish that way.

You either go full attacking style depicting a terrible subject so hardly felt by many women or you turn it into an armed police clerk soap-opera. For now, the series took the latter turn for the sake of maybe cashing in and as a result, it is weakened and suspended in the air.

  • American writers & directors should take notes! I've enjoyed the culturally sprinkled series & movies over the years that Netflix offer But the Brazilian series are the most authentic and well acted. Didn't think I would ever give a crime series a 10 (Perfect Score)!
  • I just finished watching season 2, after watching season 1 over again to remind me exactly what happened.

There are a whole slew of things that happen in this TV series that are simply not plausible. But really, the subject matter, acting, and story are so compelling that it really doesn't hinder the viewer from watching it. Frankly I was spellbound throughout the series.

There are a lot of unexpected turns of events and there is a lot of suspense and drama. Definitely adult subject matter and not appropriate for children. The writers are quite courageous in tackling some difficult topics that many writers may tend to avoid. Don't want to give too many details away. But aside from the in your face abuse of women, this series touches on subjects such as fanaticism, femicide, cultic mind control based abuse, strange cultic religious beliefs and practices, and a plethora of sinister mafia based activity and infiltration of various agencies including police authorities.

Apparently some or maybe a lot of the subject matter is based on real events. It kind of reminds me of Eyes Wide Shut in that people wielding incredible power are doing extreme evil right under peoples' noses or behind the scenes and no one seems to suspect a thing. Or if they did suspect a thing they didn't live very long. Along comes Veronica who gets curious and starts her own investigation which leads her into discovery of crimes that stagger the imagination. In effect going in where angels fear to tread. As each horrific detail is discovered by Veronica, the deeper she gets involved, until she is in over her head. But somehow she musters up the resolve, courage and strength to not give up. She gets help along this hellish journey from some very courageous people.

The number one plus of this series besides the unique story line and suspense is the great acting by Taina Muller and she is a looker too. As others have said her acting itself actually gets better throughout the two seasons. Some of the other acting is somewhat uneven but overall very convincing.

I was glued to my TV to watch every second of it and it really kept my attention on high alert. Which is the mark of an entertaining TV series. Definitely the best thing out of Brazil that I have seen, and rivals many of the best foreign crime dramas from many other countries. The ending looks like it will result in a season 3.

Liked it a lot. Heroine was made to be weak at times, strong at others. There has to be room for growth or it will be a one season show
  • I liked the series a lot. It's so tense and scary.I was on the verge all the time afraid of what might happen next. The show does a great job in depicting abuse both mental and physical. It has a strong female lead who I liked and sympathized. This is a good detective series, one of the best for the last year. It should definitely get more publicity.

Yes, as I said the show has started with a good premise... And is suspenseful and keeps us a li'l guessing... Let's see where it takes us...
  • I think this is the best brazilian show on Netflix ever.

I'm not brazilian but if you gonna watch it, keep in the original language!!!

It's so unique, brilliant and goosebumps
  • Started with this one at Netflix because of Covid ofcourse. I didn't regret it. If you like shows with a sparkling opening, a original set of characters and a very very VERY nasty villain, this is yours to be consumed. Forget the minor time errors and a few plotholes, this is a admirable and sometimes breathtaking trip. Have fun!

    AMAZING
Really good. Worth seeing it! Great direction, acting and photography.

As a brazilian im always amazed in how the quality of our content keep on groing and giving us some solid story telling.

The series is very good, for our standarts, is not hollywood content, but yet is a good view in the crime gener. Good tension building, without taking much from the "scary jump" genre what is a good choice, because you always looking for that moment that someone will jump into you, and that almost never realy happens, making for a good tension holder. But most of the time you are really hooked in the main plot, holping to get a little glinpse of the next chapter of the series.

My biggest problem is with the ending, sending the wrong message, the "Heroin" becoming a vigilante only tells the audience that your govern is incompetent and if you need help is better for you to take the manners in your on hands. That is not what is expected to pass to the public, and fails to deliver a good answer for the biggest problem appointed.

But story wise, is a good series that deserves a chance if you like this kind of genre.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Look at the dates they were put up. Obviously written by family, friends, producers, etc.

It was an average show with an utterly incompetent hero. She wants to solve cases but doesn't want to take the detective exam because her cop dad supposedly killed her mom and then tried to kill himself? Instead she'll be a clerk in the Homicide division, being reminded of her father daily and butting in on cases that would be illegal for her to interfere in? Not only that, but she still lives in the house where her mother was killed, but just keeps the door locked? Who wants to live in a "murder house?"

She is directly responsible for the deaths of four (and maybe more) people because of her incompetence, yet we're supposed to root for her? She's tailing a killer and then loses him (while recording everything on audio that she doesn't use to arrest the bad guy)? Why didn't she involve anyone else in tailing this guy? Why didn't she call the guy who keeps hitting on her, or the coroner to help her tail this guy? Why don't you use a SAT phone so you'll be sure not to lose a call?

She knows the bad cop lady visited her dad in the nursing home and tortured him with cigarettes, but she doesn't do anything about it? She also knows bad cop lady tried to kill her on the road, and does nothing about it? Sure, the whole police force is corrupt but she doesn't contact every news source in Brazil? She's totally cool with killing a guy with acid, but she doesn't go after the people who murdered her mother and threaten her family?

She was already in the vicinity of the bad guy's lair, so why does she need to follow the clues that Janet left in her puzzle books? Just drive to the place where you lost them the first time, and pick up the trail from there. She only missed him by around 300 yards the first time. And she didn't follow the shotgun blasts the first time around? The bad guy was still in the area, cuz he had to bury the body.

Then at the end she's going to become La Femme Nikita?

Write smarter. Your protagonist doesn't have to make idiotic mistakes in order to propel the story forward. And please stop threatening the hero's family in these cop shows. It's such a cliche (like the retiring police captain). While we're at it, no more perfectly rectangular grave holes that in no way could've been created with a shovel.
  • It is a great show, I agree .... A must see...from Brasil. I am impressed. Reminded me the australian movie : Hounds of love. Great job, bravo!

Good Morning, Veronica: Veronica witnesses a woman's suicide in her homicide unit and what starts off as an investigation into a conman who drugs and robs women soon takes a grimmer turn. A serial killer is also at work. Noir isn't a dark enough word to describe this Brazilian drama which is replete with disturbing scenes of violence, torture and murder. A tale of conspiracy and police/political corruption stretching back for generations unfolds. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart. Created by Raphael Montes who wrote the novel it's based on. Eight episodes, on Netflix. 8/10.

If anything season 2 of Good Morning, Veronica is even better. The conspiracy deepens as Veronica has to combat a powerful Religious Cult leader with mafia links. The cult runs human trafficking, infiltration of the police and government. Children at an orphanage run by the Cult are trained to fill these positions or become mercenaries, those who don't make the cut are trafficked. Veronica is on the run but she has helpers. Her family and the world at large believe that she is dead. Some horrifying scenes, again not for the squeamish. The constant tension is maintained throughout the narrative as Veronica uncovers more dark secrets. Some of this disturbing hidden history is personal to Veronica. Six episodes on Netflix. 8.5/10.

Just 3 episodes in Season 3 but it neatly wraps things up with yet darker and even more depraved transgressions being uncovered. While the serial killer elements remained throughout the series, the Cultic, conspiracy and corruption tropes involving a perfect intersection of mafia, church, police and politics moved to the foreground. I highly recommend Good Morning, Veronica. On Netflix. 9/10.

The show has mastered gross violence, cruelty and typical Brazilian corruption. Sadly yhe main character appears to be an idiot. Must be written by Brazilian men who don't typically respect intelligent women...very much like the Argentinian men.

So a 'cop' going after corrupt cops uses personal phone? Uses own license plates on motorcycle? Has childish meltdowns at the precinct? Doesn't keep all evidence on thumb drives and have a few secure hiding spots? Doesn't have some reporters outside Brazil and w/in as recipients of said evidence in case she has to hide or is killed? Doesn't wear gloves when committing a crime/breaking in? Doesn't plant listening or tracking devices on suspects? Doesn't shoot to kill in one situation that would have saved someone she cared about because she got emotional? Pathetic and insulting and typical.
  • One of the best and most original crime series I've seen in my (approx) 50 years of watching TV. Agree with everything the other 10 out of 10s say - plus a massive shout out for the performances of Camila Morgado as Janete Cruz, the abused woman and Eduardo Moscovis as Cláudio Antunes Brandão, her abusive, murderous partner. Utterly convincing. Bravo to all involved in this series!

Good series I hope to be season 2.

    And all female so hot.

This show is totally awesome and had me transfixed from the start. Although I was a little disappointed in the final episode, it does set itself up beautifully for a second season. There are multiple storylines running at once, which keeps you engaged. Lots of clever twists and turns. Just when you think you have things figured out, it throws you down another S bend 😯. But be warned, the themes are very confronting and it is violent, so this is definitely not for the faint hearted.

Some of the supporting acting is so-so, but the lead performances by Taina Muller as the titular Veronica, Camila Morgado and Eduardo Moscovis are absolutely riveting! In particular, Moscovis expertly portrays one of the vilest characters I can remember. He truly is revolting, but that is great acting 🎭 .

    Can't wait for season 2
  • I understand that many ideas in "Good Morning, Veronica" may be very similar to other productions and that the script may not even be very good, a little predictable, not very innovative etc. But other than that, the story is still very engaging, the suspense works well, and the acting and the more technical aspects such as the action scenes are very good here, especially if we compare it to other Brazilian productions. Even though it was short, I really liked this last season. As a whole, I think it's a series worth checking out, especially for those who already like other shows in the same genre.

    AMAZING
Text, script, production, scenes, images, actors, interpretations; everything is perfect in the Bom Dia, Verônica series!

    The book is also amazing!

I have been impressed by the Korean Japanese and now Brazilian shows that have recently been made. This show has a strange title given the story content translated from Portuguese the show is Good morning Veronica? The only qualifier in this show is the detectives name being Veronica! The story is very dark with sexual physical abuse date rape onto human trafficking and the involvement within this of leading figures in the police lawyers members of government making it a complex story that keeps you guessing and gripped yes there are many plot holes and totally unreasonable actions from the female detective but you have to brush them to one side on the basis this is a story and by that to keep it flowing and gripping I guess she does things that most intelligent people would do differently anyway that aside hats off they did a good job in a difficult to digest storyline.

    Warning: Spoilers
One keeps watching hoping that something happens or sheds light into the plot, but no. It's very poorly written. A plus is that it shows how corrupt Brazil is but there's nothing new about that. Veronica is alone fighting all the system and Brandao's character is very hard to understand, what drives him to do all that, his grandma, I mean it's a mess. Then there are stupid scenes like in the last episode where Veronica somehow tracks down Brandao's place. The ending is filled with unnecessary drama and like all bad series today it ends leaving lose ends so it can have a second season. In conclusion: it's not a total waste of time but don't go with high hopes.
  • Marvel, incredible cast and a story that will hold you from beginning to end. and most importantly, a necessary message against domestic violence suffered by many women worldwide
  • This is worth watching, the acting is good, story is good but at times a bit slow. Lots of scenes following the actors without dialogue. But if you can get past that it's very interesting and semi-realistic drama. Also some nice scenes of SP.

While there was one bad review indicating that police are not as portrayed be advised that back stabbing and office power politics exists everywhere and even in the police. While I have no idea if corruption exists in SP police i can assure you that those in power tend to belittle those who maybe a bit better than themselves.

Good ending I hope that there is are many more seasons of this show.
