Warner Bros. Pictures has dated M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural romantic thriller Remain for Oct. 23, 2026. It was always expected that The Sixth Sense director’s next movie would go to Warners given the filmmaker’s deal there.
The only other wide entry on Oct. 23, 2026 is Jordan Peele’s next movie at Universal. Given the genre of it all here, one of these titles might ultimately have to move. If the showdown sticks, that’s intriguing: Shyamalan released several genre titles via Universal including Split, Glass, Old and Knock at the Cabin. He went over to Warner Bros to release Trap last summer which grossed close to $84M at the worldwide box office. Warners also released Shyamalan’s daughter’s movie, The Watchers, from Ishana Shyamalan; that pic grossing over $33M at the global box office.
As Deadline first told you, Jake Gyllenhaal stars in an original story co-created by Shyamalan and global-bestselling novelist Nicholas Sparks.

The Multiverse cracked open, three Spider-Men shared the screen, and a sentient goat screamed in IMAX, yes, Phase 4 of the MCU has been a wild ride. While the Disney+ shows were out here multiplying timelines and emotions, the theatrical side of Phase 4 delivered everything from epic team-ups to, well, Eternals. Oscar Isaac’s The King Of Kings Is Taking Over Box Office!(Photo Credit –YouTube)
The King of Kings stormed into theaters this past weekend against all odds and up against some formidable spiritual contenders but still managed to carve out a bit of box office history. Even with the trio of The Chosen: Last Supper chapters competing for the same faith-driven audience, this animated epic not only held its ground but soared past long-standing records. The King of Kings dethroned The Prince of Egypt decades after it set the benchmark, with a roaring $20 million domestic debut while marking the biggest opening ever for a biblical animated film, per Collider.
Critics Shrug, Audiences Roar
Audiences have made their voices heard loud and clear. Despite lukewarm reviews from critics, who’ve left it teetering at a modest 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s supporters have rallied with a glowing 98% audience score,...

All Harry Potter Movies Ranked By Box Office Collection ( Photo Credit – Prime Video )
When it comes to legendary movie franchises, Harry Potter is up there, casting spells at the box office from day one. Kicking off in 2001 with The Sorcerer’s Stone (or Philosopher’s Stone if you’re fancy and British), the series grew into an eight-film phenomenon that shaped a generation, created a billion-dollar empire, and probably inspired a few owl purchases.
While the main saga wrapped in 2011 with The Deathly Hallows Part 2, aka the one that broke hearts and records, it didn’t end there. We got Fantastic Beasts, stage plays, video games, theme park rides, and endless debates over which Hogwarts house rules. Despite J.K. Rowling’s recent controversy clouding the fandom, the films still hold a nostalgic glow for millions who grew up alongside The Boy Who Lived, the girl who knew it all, and...

While there have been several iterations of the iconic Planet of the Apes, nothing has the pop cultural significance of the 1968 original. The sci-fi film did not just conform to the tropes of the genre, but also included political commentary, elements of horror, and an insane twist that still hits hard despite being one of the most recognized images in human history.
The iconic half-buried Statue of Liberty is a huge revelation in the movie and one hell of a way to end it. It reveals something that everyone obviously feared but never dared to think of, as it is too tragic and dark a scenario to think of. So, what exactly does the symbol of the Statue of Liberty mean?

Ever since the Golden Age of Hollywood explored film Noir and mystery thrillers, a variety of directors and writers have made a point of giving the audience unexpected twist endings to make films that much better. From cerebral science fiction movies to psychological thrillers, the best twists make for an entirely new experience upon second viewing. While some twists can be uninspired or predictable, others are simply perfect.
Twists can come in all forms, from whodunit mysteries finally revealing the culprit to the reveal of hidden allegiances and betrayals. When directors manage to pull off a great twist, it often leads to some of the most iconic movies there are, sometimes defining an entire decade in a single story. When done well, these films reach the very peak of cinema, and their big reveals keep audiences talking for decades after release.

Bruce Willis, known for his legendary performance as John McClane in the Die Hard franchise, celebrated his 70th birthday on March 19. Samuel L. Jackson, who co-starred with him in 1994’s Pulp Fiction, 1995’s Die Hard with a Vengeance, 1999’s Unbreakable, and 2019’s Glass, recently recalled some words of wisdom he received from the Sixth Sense star.
"He told me, 'Hopefully you’ll be able to find a character that, when you make bad movies, and they don't make any money, you can always go back to this character everybody loves," Jackson told Vanity Fair. He added that Willis used two popular action stars to prove his point. "He said, '[Arnold Schwarzenegger]'s got Terminator, [Sylvester Stallone's] got Rocky [and] Rambo. I've got John McClane."
Jackson continued to elaborate on the advice from Willis, while referring to his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as the former director of S.H.I.

She is 71, and Kennedy has been in discussions of what a succession would look like. However, at the time of writing, she's not leaving Lucasfilm yet. The commentary in this article about people weirdly celebrating still applies.

From Hollywood classics like Casablanca to modern thrillers like Gone Girl and The Departed, the way a movie ends can leave a lasting impression on audiences. One of the best ways to ensure a film remains memorable in the minds of a viewer is to deliver an unexpected twist, challenging everything they thought they knew about the story. When done right, these endings can ensure a movie remains relevant and popular for decades after release.
While some movies are almost impossible to watch spoiler-free, this shouldn't rob newcomers of the ability to do so. Revealing the twist of a movie remains one of the biggest taboos in pop culture for good reason, with the emotional experience of some iconic movies incomplete without the ability to be shocked. Wherever possible, certain masterpieces should always be experienced with as little knowledge of the story as possible, giving fans the emotional roller coaster filmmakers intended.

In terms of all-time last-second movie twists, The Sixth Sense is one of the best. M. Night Shyamalan's hit ghost story was a significant success at the box office and a critical darling, nominated for Best Picture at the 2000 Academy Awards. Much of the film's success hinged on word of mouth, generated by pulling the rug out from underneath its audience at the last minute and revealing that Bruce Willis' psychiatrist, Malcolm Crowe, had been dead all along.
However, the truth regarding The Sixth Sense's plot twist is always hiding in plain sight right from the beginning of the film. M. Night Shyamalan structured the film so that anyone in the audience who wanted to go back and rewatch the film immediately after finishing it would be rewarded for their efforts because the clues are more obvious than ever on the second watch.

Jack Nicholson Aced The Role Of Joker And Earned Big ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
When Warner Bros. wanted him to play Gotham’s most infamous villain in Tim Burton’s 1989 classic, Jack Nicholson saw more than a chance to wear green hair and a twisted grin. He saw an opportunity to make serious money, and he delivered. His deal was one of the smartest contracts in Hollywood history.
Nicholson didn’t need Warner Bros. as much as Warner Bros. needed him. By 1986, Nicholson was already a massive star with two Oscars, box office hits, and a global fanbase. He knew his worth. Producer Gary Peters knew it too, but getting Nicholson was far from a given. Burton only became director after Peters managed studio politics to push Michael Keaton into the Batman role, and Nicholson was the only real linchpin left to make this blockbuster happen.

Trap is M. Night Shyamalan's newest film, and as such, many fans went in expecting to see a massive plot twist or two. Some, however, were more skeptical because of the trailer trailer that seemingly spoiled the plot twist early by revealing Josh Hartnett's character as a serial killer. Thankfully, Shyamalan had a few tricks up his sleeve, because Hartnett's killer wasn't the plot twist audiences were waiting for.
Like many of Shyamalan's films, Trap features a few twists and turns that fans might not see coming. Most of the movie is set inside a huge pop-star concert meticulously staged to catch Hartnett's character. However, Shyamalan is constantly playing with the audience's expectations, leading Trap into unexpected -- and often confusing -- directions.

Its hard to ignore that Philadelphia-born director M. Night Shyamalan has crafted one of the most indelible brands in filmmaking over the past 25 years. Ask the average movie fan to explain Shyamalans impact, and the answer is fairly simple: he consistently showcases a potent mix of skillful storytelling and unexpected plot twists that leave audiences reeling.
Among Shyamalan's extensive filmography, two movies stand out for their particularly mind-blowing twists: The Sixth Sense (1999) and Split (2016). These two films, separated by nearly two decades, share a compelling, hard-to-ignore connection.

One of the most iconic movie twists comes in The Sixth Sense. M. Night Shyamalan's ghost story is a tense thriller for much of the runtime, but it ends with the shocking surprise that Malcolm (Bruce Willis) has been dead the entire movie and is one of the ghosts young Cole (Haley Joel Osment) sees. The reveal is one of those brilliant twists that immediately makes the viewer want to watch the movie again from the beginning to see if they can spot all the hidden clues in The Sixth Sense.
As it turns out, Shyamalan stacks the movie full of hints of the truth about Malcolm that, looking back on it, spells out the ending perfectly. While M. Night Shyamalan saw his career stall out thanks to his overreliance on twist endings, the one that started it all remains his best, and that is because he didn't cheat when telling this story.

Donnie Wahlberg's role in The Sixth Sense was a brief but unforgettable part of the horror movie. The singer and actor has played a handful of movie and TV characters and shared his personal life in two reality series, allowing a behind-the-scenes look at running a fast food franchise with his brothers in Wahlburgers and his relationship with Jennie McCarthy on Donnie Loves Jenny. M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense is famous for its twist in the last moments of the movie, which connects back to Wahlberg's small role as Vincent Grey.

The debate about which Scrubs episode is the best will probably never be settled, but there is definitely a trend that emerges when the sitcom's upper echelon of offerings is assembled and analyzed. All nine seasons of Scrubs aired between 2001 and 2010, and there are several episodes regarded as the show's superlative efforts. With a Scrubs revival seemingly on the way, the cult classic will have a tough task trying to improve upon its original run, but it stands a chance of doing so if it takes its past successes into account.
Every doctor in Scrubs had a variety of arcs. The show's storylines went from comical absurdity to heartfelt tearjerker in the blink of an eye, and both approaches were incredibly effective during its nine years on the air. When Billy Crystal regularly hosted the Academy Awards, he liked to begin the show with a montage where he was inserted into the nominated films. The 2000 opening leaned more on Hollywood history, with Crystal appearing in vintage films like The Graduate and Psycho. There were still jokes about that year’s movies, though, like when a Charlie Chaplin homage included a title card where Crystal quoted the most famous line from The Sixth Sense: “I see dead people.” Crystal later had some more fun with the M. Night Shyamalan sensation with a song parody,...

It's been a busy year for M. Night Shyamalan. This summer, he dropped the wildly entertaining (and wildly silly) concert-set serial killer thriller "Trap," starring Josh Hartnett and Shyamalan's daughter, Saleka. The "Sixth Sense" director has several other projects in the works, but he's also been branching out as a producer, producing Ishana Shyamalan's "The Watchers" earlier this year and "Caddo Lake," co-directed by Logan George and Celine Held, this month. It's the latter film that's been climbing the streaming charts this week, with the latest viewership data from FlixPatrol listing it as the most-watched movie on HBO, home to the streaming site Max.
According to the data site, "Caddo Lake" is the most popular movie on HBO today, outpacing Gary Dauberman's long-anticipated "Salem's Lot" remake and some 2024 theatrical releases, including Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's "Bad Boys: Ride Or Die," Mark Wahlberg's inspirational stray dog flick "Arthur The King,...

The thriller genre has long walked the line between mystery and horror, with some of the genre's best movies covering serial killers, such as Silence of the Lambs. While many of these films strive to be more grounded stories, others embrace the supernatural, covering everything from ghosts to psychics as major plot devices. While some of these films can miss the mark, others make for brilliant experiences every bit as terrifying as a good horror movie, often balancing both genres at once.
Supernatural thrillers typically focus on themes of justice and revenge for the spirits of the dead, sometimes following a protagonist as they're guided towards the truth by a ghost. While these elements can make a good mystery movie feel far-fetched and fantastical, they also give viewers some of the best and most terrifying thrillers out there. The genre has always been at its best when it's unafraid of scaring audiences,...

In all of Terry Gilliams impressive repertoire, 12 Monkeys stands out as his most commercially successful and well-remembered. The film is exciting, thought-provoking, and impressively well-acted by Brad Pitt, Madeleine Stowe, and, of course, Bruce Willis. Gilliam had met Willis during casting for The Fisher King, and he described the actor as "somebody who is strong and dangerous but also vulnerable". And nobody can deny that Willis is capable of John McClane style bad-assery and Sixth Sense subtlety alike. But Gilliam had another reason for hiring the action mega-star. That reason was, according to the director, that Bruce Willis has a very penile-shaped head.

Haley Joel Osment might have found his new calling as a celebrity impersonator if his impression of Republican vice presidential nominee Jd Vance is anything to go by. The Sixth Sense actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, October 1, in a parody political ad spoofing Vance’s cringe-inducing visit to a donut shop back in August. Adorned in a suit, beard, and eyeliner, Osment’s Vance fired back at those who called him “weird,” “creepy,” and “awkward” by showing he could have a normal interaction with everyday folk. “They want you to think that I can’t order a simple door nut — donut. S***,” Osment said at the start of the segment. He then strode into the donut shop, cut in front of an elderly woman, and made awkward small talk with the employee behind the counter. “Donut,” he said, to which the employee replied, “Which one?” “Whatever makes sense,...

The Sixth Sense is remembered for its shocking twist, its fascinating universe, and its role in turning director and writer M. Night Shyamalan into a household name. The movie centers around a child psychologist (Bruce Willis) who works with Cole (Haley Joel Osment), a little boy who can see The Sixth Sense's many ghosts. It was a critical and commercial success, having been nominated for six Academy Awards, four BAFTAs, and two Golden Globes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Osment explained exactly what set the movie apart from its contemporary horror movies. Rather than relying on jump scares to keep audiences engaged, Shyamalan instituted a rule that there would be no deceitful scares. Every thrill would be completely real and would be grounded in character moments and relationships. Check out Osment's full explanation of the rule below:

Now, this is a twist that everyone saw coming: Haley Joel Osment loved working with Bruce Willis on M. Night Shyamalan's 1999 film, The Sixth Sense. Spoiler alert! The supernatural horror movie, which centers around a young boy named Cole (Osment), who sees dead people, is well-known for its incredible, jaw-dropping twist ending. And as the psychological thriller continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Osment recalls how Willis would call him up to check in and leave thoughtful messages for his co-star. Osment said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
I heard from him a lot after it came out in those subsequent years. He'd leave voicemails at the house from time to time, just checking in. He would just call out of the blue, so sometimes it was in the lead up before travel. We went to Japan together twice, if I remember correctly, to open Sixth Sense in different cities.

The Oscar nominee recently reflected on his “fantastic” time as a child actor working with Willis on the M. Night Shyamalan movie The Sixth Sense (1999) and how their behind-the-scenes friendship endured over the years.

The Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment warmly recalls what it was like to work with Bruce Willis, who was his costar in the film. Released in 1999, The Sixth Sense is directed by M. Bruce Willis' temporal adventure in the mid-nineties somehow foreshadowed an iconic moment from another of the actor's movies that wouldn't premiere until the end of the decade. Widely regarded as one of Bruce Willis' best sci-fi movies, the project in question cleverly played - perhaps unknowingly - to its main genre label. Although Willis is best known for his action hero roles, his versatility across several movie categories is demonstrated across these two films.
As well as standing out in Willis' filmography, the movie in question that made such a precise prediction about the actor's near future is hailed as one of the best time travel movies of all time. The mind-bending story can be perceived in different ways, depending on which character's point of view is adopted by the audience. Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Trap (2024)
Trap's ending lacked the signature Shyamalan twist, leaving viewers wanting more surprise and absurdity. Hartnett's performance adds depth to a generic thriller, but fails to deliver the expected Shyamalan twist. Compared to Shyamalan's past works, Trap falls short of delivering a memorable and impactful conclusion.
As someone who goes to M. Night Shyamalan movies expecting enjoyable absurdity, I couldnt help but feel let down when Traps ending turned out to be so uncharacteristically reasonable. If I try to judge the Josh Hartnett comeback objectively, 2024s Trap is by no means a bad movie. Hartnett gives another one of those late-career performances that channels his easy charisma into a darker place, the pacing is tense, and there are a handful of fun supporting characters. However, as someone who once defended M. Night Shyamalans silly but fun twist endings at length, I was still disappointed.

Around the five-and-a-half minute mark of the nearly seven-minute-long diss track, Lamar makes a reference to Osment’s filmography but refers to him as Joel Osteen, the pastor and televangelist. The actor has only loosely been following the rap drama, but believes there was a reason behind the name switch.

M. Night Shyamalan said he couldn’t see anyone else but Josh Hartnett as lead character Cooper in his new thriller, “Trap,” noting that he loved that the “Penny Dreadful” star was willing to “risk everything” with him to make the movie.
The “Sixth Sense” director began self-financing his own films with 2015’s “The Visit,” a gamble that paid off on the very first day of release.
“There’s no way to protect yourself. We’ll all get paid if we’re successful, if we’re not, we don’t get paid. And I don’t think you should,” he told GQ in a video where he talked about his most iconic movies.
He said he wrote the role of Cooper as a “superstar,” but needed an actor who was alright with making a movie that didn’t have a studio’s backing upfront.
