Nihal gave a lovely performance as the son of a small town printing press owner who isn't much of a student, to his father's dismay. He declares his intention to have his own business, and disregards his father's negative predictions about his prospects. Vijayanand is the story of the rise of a common man from a small town in Karnataka to become the owner of maybe the most successful lorry, newspaper and television business in India. The film is said to be based closely on the story of a real person, Vijay Sankeshwar. It seems intended to inspire Indians to overcome the obstacles presented by competitors, and it raises the question as to what the appropriate response to the competitors is.

    Nice...
Nihal silences a certain section of detractors who wanted a notable actor to play the lead. His commitment to the role, even radically altering his features to fit into the character, is applaudable. Bharath Bopanna as Anand Sankeswar fits the bill and has given a neat performance. Anant Nag as BG Sankeshwar is the highlight of Vijayanand, who stays true to the character of a humble person in North Karnataka, and his presence is profound, especially through his dialogue delivery. Ravichandran too has a strong presence in the film, which has a decent performance by Prakash Belawadi, who plays a press editor. Other characters too have done justice to their respective roles.
  • Vijayanand (2022) : Movie Review -

Indian businessman Vijay Sankeshwar brings his life journey to the silver screen, not for any commercial purpose but to inspire people (that's what his son says in the film). Rishika Sharma and Nihal are both newbies and have a lot to learn, so it would have been better if they had waited and made this film after some years. The story of Vijay Sankeshwar's life is indeed inspiring and dramatic and deserves to be told on the silver screen, but not with such low-level filmmaking. Kannada cinema is rising to new heights this year with KGF 2 and Kantara, and people here in the Hindi belts are waiting for the next sensation. Unfortunately, Vijayanand isn't the one.

The film starts off with Vijay Sankeshwar's (Nihal R.) childhood and teenage days as his son, Anand (Bharath Bopanna), narrates the story. After having a verbal fight with his father, Vijay, a 19-year-old boy, starts his transport business in Gadag, a small city in the heart of North Karnataka. He faces a backlash for his decision and soon learns of the conspiracies of his competitors. He then seeks help from a Robin Hood, Ganesh (V. Ravichandran), who backs his ambitions. Vijay soon emerges as a hit in the transport business and subsequently enters politics and the media business as well. The film showcases his downfall, rise, and struggle in parts, while his son has his own journey to tell at the same time.

Vijayanand has a good script, no doubt, but not a good screenplay. It just doesn't excel in exploring Vijay's life as an inspirational figure because it carries a certain heroic notion in its mind. It creates some scenes of its own that are far ahead of what you call "cinematic liberty." You don't need any certification or proof for that, because you can sense it while watching it. Many questions remain unanswered, including why Vijayanand sold his popular newspaper, the rise and success of Digvijay 24 x 7, and the Padma Shri award. His life had every vehicle to drive you through a cinematic experience, but the basic fuel, the screenplay, is filled with impurities. That filtering process was desperately needed here.

Talking about performances, Nihal R. Hasn't done anything bad, but the conviction was missing somewhere. He looks the same for about 10-15 years, then hardly changes his specs. The variety in his looks was missing, as was his body language. On a personal note, I am not really sure if Vijay sir could have had so many action fights in his Life and he could be so angry. I met him during the promotions of this film, and he was such a sweet person to talk to. Can't believe that he was so tough against his rivals, as shown in the film. No offence to Nihal, by the way; I met him too, and he's just the same kind person. Anyway, his performance is decent, but I was expecting more as this genre (biopic) has more potential. Siri Prahlad looks a traditional beauty in every scene she has; Bopanna sounds below par; Anant Nag is too underwhelming for his high stature; and so is V. Ravichandran. Vinaya Prasad hardly has any scenes to be noticed, and Prakash Belawadi passes out the scenes with his experience, if not his dedication.

The action scenes in Vijayanand are too loud. It might just remind you of KGF's noisy chapter that we saw in the heat of summer. Either you hate it or you enjoy it; that's entirely up to your taste in films. I hated KGF 2 for being extra loud, but here it's not about being louder but being over-the-top and outdated. The music didn't hurt my ears, and the camera work didn't hurt my eyes. However, the editing did annoy me. I kept checking the time to see how long it would take the editor to finish this trip in VRL's vehicle. Some scenes are forwarded too quickly, while others are terribly slow. Rishika's direction isn't worthy enough to justify the legacy of Vijay Sankeshwar. This could have been a game-changing project for her in a positive way, but the tides turned in the opposite direction. Never mind; may she achieve success with her next project. For the time being, this is a gone case for me.

What a wonderful, inspirational movie. I come from Uttara Karnataka, and I have heard of Vijay Sankeshwar. He is a businessman and known personality in Karnataka. This movie is based on his life. It shows the problems he has faced and how he overcame themThe director Rishika Sharma has done great job in bringing the story on the celluloid. Nihal who played the role of Vijay Sankeshwar has put a lot of effort on his looks and done justice to the role given. Anant Nag, Bharat Bopanna and Siri Prahlad did their job well. Songs by Gopi Sunder are melodious and the BGM is also very nice. Superb movie.

Vijay takes a risk, defaults on debt, buys a lorry, and sets out to chase his dream. The path is exciting but filled with obstacles. One part that keeps the excitement going is how he goes about clearing the roadblocks in his life, and how he manages to succeed. The second half covers his brief entry into politics, and how he got into the media business and became number one. I recommend this movie to all the youths who are loosing interest in taking risks and considering new paths in life. Songs by Gopi Sunder are melodious and the BGM is also very nice. Vijayanand showcases an ambitious man's dogged persistence and perseverance, and is definitely an inspiring watch.
  • A great watch for the family. It has all the entertaining factors a movie goer expects. The son Vijay goes against father Anantnag's wishes and starts lorry business instead continuing his father's printing business. He faces many challenges and overcomes to achieve as the biggest lorry business in India today. He also startsnews paper business and television channel. Vijayanand is an honest attempt by the filmmaker to throw light on the life of Dr. Vijay Sankeshwar. This is the second film by director Rishika Sharma and actor Nihal. They have done a good attempt. Vijayanand showcases an ambitious man's dogged persistence and perseverance, and is definitely an inspiring watch.

    Amazing
Vijayanand is the biopic of businessman-turned-politician, Dr Vijay Sankeshwar. The film shows the rise of an ordinary man from North Karnataka. The first half of this film is engaging and the art direction by Rishika Sharma, that takes you back in time, is impressive. Music by Gopi Sundar is aptly used. Keerthan Poojari has brought magic to the screen through his lighting and frames. The second half, however, lacks tempo as the screenplay lags and loses grip. Playing Vijay Sankeshwar in this film probably required more preparation by Nihal, who still manages to impress in bits. Bharath looks promising as Anand Sankeshwar. Ananth Nag is impressive as BG Sankeshwar.

Director Rishika Sharma captures the life of an extraordinary man, who 'made his own road, and drove on it too'. Depicting the life of Vijay Sankeshwar, the founder of VRL Group, Rishika's second outing as a director tells the inspiring tale of the mammoth transport company, which started off with just one lorry. Rishika's biopic adroitly stitches the ups and downs of his life, of course, sprinkling commercial elements while doing so. Tracing the life of a personality like Vijay Sankeshwar is a huge responsibility, but Rishika makes it entertaining. Vijayanand never seems like an exaggeration; it remains pragmatic and inspiring.

Being a biopic, the film is weaved around the rise of Vijay Sankeshwar to spotlight through his diligence and perseverance in business arena. It encompasses all the significant events of his life right from his decision to break away from his traditional printing business to a new spectrum of transportation. Watched this yesterday at a theatre in Bangalore. Today's younger generation needs more movies like these which inspire them to take risks. Young people are working onstart ups. The beautiful photography of North Karnataka, superb acting, and realistically told modern story make Vijayanand a good choice as an eye-opener for someone who doesn't know Vijay Sankeshwar so well. And the music is extraordinary.

This movie is all about the vision of a personVijay Sankeshwar (Nihal) & his efforts to realize the dream, fighting against all odds. This is a movie about a simple guy trying to make it big in this world. It can easily relate to just about any successful entrepreneur who has been able to achieve his vision. Vijayanand is the story of the rise of a common man from a small town in Karnataka to become the owner of maybe the most successful lorry, newspaper and television business in India. Frames of Keerthan Poojari is serene in every aspect. It lays foundation for the period setup and enhances the mood of the film. Gopi Sundar shines both in songs as well as in the background score. Music sweeps the audience through its majestic essence every single time. Sharp dialogues lands its morale nature to the audience while all the other come up as explanations rather than a response for a situation. Quite a few time, the fourth wall is broken to convince the audience with the flesh of reality. Mast movie. People should go to the theatre and watch this movie. Kannada movie industry is making fantastic movies. This movie is directed by woman Director Rishika Sharma. This is a biography of a Businessman Vijay Sankeshwar.
