  • I have to say that I expected the ending to be more twisted with Professor Cha passing away but staying in the hospital with Seung Tak. But needless to say, the actual ending works fine. It is always good for K-Dramas to end on a good note with complete resolution of conflicts and making peace with life.

The fact that our life time isn't finite is a sole reminder to do our very best and not regret in any spectrum you will be in, whether you will just cease to exist or in an endless dream. This drama covers the ups-and-downs of the nature of living beings.
  • I started watching this show for Kim Bum, but I was blown away by Rain. The plot itself is amazing, script-writing mind-blowing, and the acting is the icing on the cake. There are certain times when you might feel annoyed, but stick around, it gets better. The characters are super entertaining, and you are in for laughs and tears.

The show ended on a good note with everything going back into its place.

Rain and Kim Bum's bromance throughout the show was incredible. The ghost characters added those extra laughs and made all the difference.

Overall it's a feel-good kinda show with a good storyline, direction, cast and I recommend you watch it if you haven't already.
  • I agree with others that the beginning is slow, and there are some other pads and fillers here and there. But the cast is excellent, and the bromance between characters played by Rain and Kim Bum is worth the whole series. They are hilarious, warm, and wonderful. Strongly recommended.
  • I got tired of watching dramas of the same genre every day. Eventually I noticed a difference. A strange combination of mystery and thriller has been noticed in the play. In the midst of life and death, the beard is also taught to perform one's duty and to remain intact.
  • This was heart warming, fun and beautiful to watch, both Rain and Kim are a strong duo together, the turning point in their characters and every feeling they felt through the change was on point.

You won't regret watching the long hours of these episodes, actually, once an episode had finished you will be wanting to see what happens next. Full of surprises and unexpected moments. This series will put a smile on your face for sure.

This is probably one of the best comedy medical drama to watch, go give it a try!

The storyline is very unique, it's not your typical medical romance or serious drama. It focuses more on fantasy, between ghosts and one living doctor, but its definitely not horror.

Even if Rain is here, I think every actor brought this show. Starting from the villains, to the coma ghosts, and everyone. Rain and Kim Bum did not disappoint in portraying comedy, they literally made us laugh. Having the sad scenes, it effectively made me tear up too!

There are lessons to learn in this show. There's unconditional love, where even if they hurt you the most, you'd still love them till your very last breath. Genuine friendship-despite the differences, there will be always a special connection between you and them. Helping one another, giving small or big things makes people happy, so let's give a lending hand to one another. And lastly, A true doctor would never disregard other patients. Every patients deserves another life, whether it may be impossible or not. This show would remind you to always reflect on your actions, because your ways may hurt other people.

Despite the pro's in this story, there are cons that didn't necessarily ruin the show but I believe it somewhat might annoy you(anyhow, I'll go from minor to major irritations). Starting off with the shakey camera, this happens most of the time. While watching the show I was kinda hoping it would stop in some of the episodes, but no. It continuously kept on shaking throughout the whole series. Second, there are so many unnecessary flashbacks, a scene you saw 2 minutes ago would be showed off again. Do I have to see the same scene over and over again when I just saw it? Next, The "I want the money and power" genre is used too much on dramas, but I think this helped the drama have it's own arguments. Fourthly, the shadows did not help make the ghosts obvious that they are ghosts. From what I know, ghosts don't have shadows(?) so I wish they edited that out. Fifth, By the middle or almost end of the story, some people knew that Koh was being possessed by Youngmin. I dont think this should've had happened. Lets be realistic, no one would believe that Seung-Tak was being possessed besides himself. But hey, Dr. Jang, Dr Ahn, the Administrative Director, and Soo Jeong believed that Seung-Tak was being possessed. Sixth and Seventh, The coma ghosts stories were a cliffhanger and never got their happy endings. Sure, Bomi and Hun-Gil survived, but did they get to admit they had feelings for eachother? Especially Hun-Gil? And Guk-Chan, what happened after he was released in the hospital? There was so much potential in them because without them, Young-Min would be a stupid roaming around ghost. Eighth, if they added romance, then the romance should've been atleast fluttering. In relation to the 2nd con, the flashbacks of Dr. Jang and Cha were so repetitive. Was skipping meals and living together is all they did? Finally, It was very unfair that Young-Min remembered what happened while he was in a coma. What about the other ghosts? The rule was not remembering what happened while being a ghost. Moreover, the ending was probably rushed when Cha was already alive. But it didn't fail to be sad.

Extra: i wish they would release a season 2 with the same casts. I would lovingly and gladly support this show again and again!!!!!
  • I did expect Prof Cha Young Min not to recover however, the ending was acceptable to me and a happy one too. Prof Cha recorded himself (whilst in the body of Dr. Go Seung Tak) so as not to forget his 'ghost' existence story when he comes out of his coma. The medical action taken by the doctors were very exciting. The mental trauma that Dr. Go Seung Tak went through and how overcame it was very realistic. It shows that we should not regret our chosen vocations whilst alive and accomplish what we had set out to do without regret and in this case becoming doctors was to save lives.

The best part of the Korean Drama "Ghost Doctor" is the bromance. The chemistry between the two main leads is unmistakable, with smooth performances to boot and comedy overflowing their sweet interactions. Their relationship was, in addition, well-paced and it matured naturally rather than forced. That was aided by the well-handled body swapping.

On the other hand, the relationship between the female doctor and the main lead was boring, out of style and got things necessarily complicated, not to mention it added cheesy moments that didn't help with the main bromance.

That being said, the rest of the side characters were delightful and it was nice that they had their own ark that was finished and not left undone!

So, overall, 6 out of 10.
  • Ghost Doctor doesn't have any heavy romance involved. This is a supernatural bromance between a star surgeon learning to shed his arrogant nature and a cocky young resident doctor learning to, uh, embrace the privileged circumstances he was born into on his way to the top.

Started watching the show due to Kim Beum, but Rain was terrific as well. The importance of doctors, and saving every human lives is well portrayed in the show.

Although it may feel a little stucked with the narrative in the midway, but the last couple of episodes makes it up. Ghost Doctor ends where you expect it to and the familiar journey has been comfortable and to some extent, memorable.

    My Rating : 8/10.
  • A feel good fantasy K-Drama that sticks to the template & delivers a captivating series. An arrogant genius doctor Young Min is met with an accident, where he goes into coma becoming a "coma ghost" & ironically he is the only one capable of doing the surgery that could save him. Then there's the young resident Seung Tak who is also a genius doctor theoretically but to become a great surgeon, he needs to overcome his own fears. In addition, the young genius doctor can also see ghosts & is the only one whom Young Min can possess. How the duo of the living & the ghost learn to be a team to become better doctors they were destined to be forms rest of the story.

The series sticks to the basics, effectively establishes all the characters as usually seen in K-Dramas where a battalion of side characters turn out to be worth rooting for. Seung Tak's love story felt underdeveloped & rather sacrificed to elevate Young Min's love story. Mainly because their backstory was much meatier. It's a fantasy so creative liberties are taken in all the 16 episodes, the whole villain angle got resolved very easily, infact that sub plot gets sidelined entirely as the focus is entirely on the romantic comedy between the 4 lead pairs & the drama involving the patients. It is the performances that firmly elevate those routine scenes and the actors did give their best here.

With all it's blemishes, Ghost Doctor is still an endearing watch where even the filler episodes succeed in keeping one hooked.

Good series each ep gets better--there is a few annoying parts but not alot-watch it and judge yourself.bet u will enjoy it. Shame uk dont have tv drama like this.
  • I loved loved and ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS SHOW.

And as I mentioned just now, throughout the show I had this HUGE grin on my face.

The show is such a treat to watch. It's funny, it's witty, it's melodramatic, it's fun, and it's just amazing.

I was getting very disappointed in k drama story lines but altho the antagonism side of the story is a very repetitive one, the protagonists and the main story line of Koh Seung tak and Cha Young min was just beautiful.

I usually watch tv shows at 1.5x speed, but I always had to slow down on Young min and Seung tak scenes. They were just... ahhhh chef's kiss. Their bonding and the journey they both went through, Perfect.

A few things that needed working on: 1) The senior doctors acting so reluctant at the thought of surgeries felt very...weird. I mean even if you don't participate in many surgeries, at that age you've still gathered enough experience to get the work done. The amount of incompetence they showed, it's a surprise a hospital would even keep them. That was a plot deficiency because I can't expect doctors to be so repugnant to surgeries and still be employed.

    2) After a couple of episodes, Seung tak really stops caring when talking to Dr Cha. It's like he's forgotten that living people exist. He'll be talking to Dr Cha in corridors, in the ER, in literally every place, even with people around. He would've been labelled a freak anywhere else and not wrongly so considering ghosts aren't supposed to be existing that way.

    3) Dr Jang (or was it Kang?) was in America for a good 12/13 years and you can't possibly expect me to believe that she speaks English just like an any other Korean. When you live in a native country, you pick their accents and their dialect but she didn't. And that's a really big plot hole. The directors and producers should work on accent coaching too considering how globalized k dramas have become now.

    4) 20 years ago, people had mobile phones? I mean even if they did, weren't pagers used to call doctors to depts and not phones? So far as I remember phone calls were really expensive when phones came out.

A very strong contender for the worst medical drama. The equivalent of filming two patients' beds and calling it a "hospital". From the very beginning they did such a poor job in setting building that it's constantly sticking out in your face. To give a few examples: The hospital is completely dependent on a single skillful witch doctor that otherwise everyone would be dead without his witchcraft which eliminated any hierarchy in the hospital. The hospital had no rules, anyone can come and go as they please, anyone can get a patient into the operation room and perform a surgery and no one faces consequences to anything they do because writing such scenes would take more effort. The hospital management is non-existent, there's only one guy in charge (the bad guy Tae In Ho) with no one around him or beside him managing the hospital. Even worse, the actor is known for his side roles as a subordinate character so giving him a position in charge while lacking any intimidation and gravity to his character has ruined the role and killed the little tension the drama had. There are more examples to this lackluster hospital setting but these were the most obvious.

However, if you managed to over glance the entire setting and just hyper focus on the main 2 leads then the drama is alright. The 2 main leads first encounter and the first episode had an abhorrent and despicable dynamic to watch on screen but, to my surprise, it got a lot better later on and turned out to be fun which was the only reason that saved the drama and made it watchable.

I love this so much. Rain oppa and kim bum oppa super funny and cute together. Love their bromance vibes. Definitely worth watching. For the weak in heart the surgery scene very unrealistic so no worries and so you may relax and watch it with a peaceful mind.

I had watched several medical kdramas, and this is one of the best! Not only medical terms but there are some mystery involved as well. Finished this only within 3 days lol never felt boring to watch this. A heart warming, touching and comedy genres mixed into one. You won't regret it. I also noticed there are some new or unfamiliar actors involved, but they still nailed it!
  • The episodes 1-6 still fine, and nice but episode 7 start to be nonsense. Episode 8 became worse and episode 9 was a total rubbish. Later episodes have many setbacks non logical common sense. The last episode is also a worse, wrapped up lousily.

Too bad that the more you watch, the worse the logic.

Not an ideal drama because too many dramas out there are far better. How can they still make such a quality in 2022?

10/10 is my rating. This is a 2022 South Korean paranormal mystery medical drama with 16, 60 minute episodes.

Cha Young-min (Rain) is a highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeon who suffers no idiots. He is a professor at the teaching hospital and is mentoring a cadre of residents when an unexpected accident leaves him in a coma and wandering the hospital as a coma ghost. One of his mentees, Go Seung-tak (Kim -Bum) was a dislike at first site situation. Seung-tak is the heir to the hospital and is pursuing medicine at the direction of his grandfather who wants his grandson to know the business from the ground up. The thing is Seung-tak is book brilliant but adverse to doing anything hands on and his plan was to coast through on his brains without doing any hands on practice. When Young-min becomes a coma ghost he is able to take over Seung-tak but no one else. Since he was the only doctor of his skill at that hospital and many complex cases come in he finds that he needs Seung-tak's body to be able to save patients with the need for complex surgery. As things go along it seems that Young-min's injury may not have been an accident. Someone wants both him and Seung-tak out of the picture. These two who are so at odds with each other find they must work together to save patients and also to figure out who is trying to eliminate both doctors.

This was really the perfect drama that avoided all the tired tropes that are somewhat annoying. It had heart warming relationships, all major aspects were well finished, interesting cases, great chemistry between the leads and among all the cast. I loved the bromance. The friendship and interaction between the two male leads was super cute. Spoilers* I wasn't sure how they were going to carry off the whole "ghost doctor" angle but it made sense within believing that comatose patients are a special type of ghost. They did such an excellent job of showing not only how and why Young-min became the hard, seemingly uncaring, doctor that he was but his evolution into a doctor that not only cared deeply about the patients he knew he could save but all of the patients. Young-min and Seung-tak took the best qualities of each other and blended them together in a mentorship/friendship that was durable and made them both better people. I liked how both men had love interests and that was an important part of both of the worlds yet the central relationship was theirs. All of the ghosts in the story were interesting and complex and went through their own evolution. I liked how, while they were able to solve some of the cases of the comatose patients, there was that one they were not able to solve as that it made it more realistic. The only thing I thought was odd is you had a whole cardiac specialty section but none of the other doctors seemed capable of performing any but the most simplistic surgeries. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. That seemed a bit of a stretch to me but it wasn't a story killer. They let us know, for all the main characters, why this one or that was able to see, hear and/or interact with ghosts. The parents were not overbearing and the "children" held their ground and made it clear that while they respected their elders, they planned to live their own lives their way. So there was no bullying parent trope and there also wasn't a long separation trope. I mean Young-min and his girlfriend did have a long separation but that happened before we were introduced to the story so we didn't have to "live it" so that was a better way of doing the whole separation thing (which I still don't understand as being a necessary element but those who write these dramas seem to think it is). They also did not break up during the active story line (again that happened before the story started) another trope I am not a huge fan of. I fully expected him to wake and not remember anything that happened while he was in a coma but they found a way around that overused amnesia trope by making it so he left a film for himself and also that the heavens or gods or whomever allowed him to cheat the odds and actually remember (perhaps as a reward for saving so many lives). I worried that they would rush some of the romances but they didn't. They gave just enough detail to know what direction things were headed in then just left it there. Sometimes that can be frustrating but, in this case, it was actually perfect. I highly recommend this drama, would watch it again, and it is one of my new top favorites. It's a great medical drama, has the romance but it is not the only driving force, and has some complexity to the plot and some surprises as well.
  • The story of this K-drama is well developed, despite being dramatic every second of it. Everybody cries and everybody fights. The bromance between the two male actors is well portrayed. They are very good actors. But the female lead... she is soulless. When she calls to her American peers you can barely listen to what she is saying (so soft spoken maybe shy to speak in English?). That voice tone is not good for the character since it was supposed she studied a medical degree in the USA...so, not good acting). The connection between the couple is not there. He is more expressive and intense, but she is like absent.
  • Most awaited television serie of Rain Oppa and a great comeback Great storyline , interesting moments from one episode to another, something different and unexpected, very exciting.

    WHAT I LIKED

Although metaphysically confusing, this one had its moments.

I liked the idea of the ghost doctors.

The "coma ghosts," haplessly waiting around for a return to a real life were a nice touch.

The love-hate, sometimes abusive, relationship between the two male leads was the most entertaining part of the story.

    WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE

Too many episodes with little or no drama or tension.

Waay too many scenes of Dr. Cha staring mournfully at Dr. Jang-and a whole lot of nothing going on - episode, after episode, after episode.

Seung Tak's smile which curdled my blood more than once.

This drama crossed over into silliness way too often. For example...

A man sick with love, who's been mooning for his sweetie for sixteen straight episodes, finally is close enough to hug her.

    Then...

What does this person do? He cruelly turns away, rejects her, and basically tells her to get lost. Why? Well...ha, ha! It turns out to be a big joke.

    Yeah, right.
  • Though I am big fan of Korean series specially fantasy and spiritual related but I closed in middle of 1st spisode when I see 20 year old sergion . Director put young actors to get attention of girls ,probably all of reviews are from South Korea who loves girly type boys . I prefer good doctor instead ghost doctor . Big no for me.
  • I watched this because of Kim Bum and I started to like his chemistry with Son Na Eun in this drama. And I'm looking forward for the relationship of Go Seeing Tak and Cha Young Min.
  • This is one of the kdrama that I literally wait every weeks release. Its just that Rain and Kim bum duo is so great and also Uee and Son Naeun. The actor and actressess chemistry is on another level. The story itself is heartwarming and an eye opener. Me myself as a part of medical team really appreciate this kind of series. Thank you for having and doing this kind of series. Hoping for season 2, waiting for Koo Seung tak to operate more. Thank you.
