Emilia Clarke is probably excited for another chance to rinse off the dust of Westeros and not have to act alongside a tennis ball on a stick representing the eyeline of a giant dragon. Deadline reports the actor (most recently seen in cinemas in modest hit Me Before You) is set to star in a remake of The Beauty Inside, a 2015 Korean romantic comedy with a premise that exists several rows above “high concept.” The film tells the story of a man who wakes up each morning in a different body and tries desperately to stay connected to the woman he loves. So, kind of like if The Thing was a romance.
The noteworthy part of this story isn’t so much Clarke’s casting as it is the price paid for the idea, “Hey, what if we hired the guys who wrote The Fault In Our Stars to ...

Looks like the Mother of Dragons has scored another headlining gig in a big screen romance. Following her work in last year's Me Before You, Deadline reports that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke will star in The Beauty Inside, a remake of a 2015 Korean film "about a man who wakes up in a different body each day and has to stay connected to the woman he loves." Um...what now? Let's take a look at the Korean film's trailer:
From that logline, I inferred that this would be sort of a 50 First Dates sort of situation, in which the woman isn't aware that it's the same person inside all of these different identities. But I'm pretty sure that trailer makes it clear that the woman knows what's going on from the start — and what I'm really interested in is seeing her initial reaction to this bizarre revelation. Hopefully this...

Screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber have been busy this week, pitching their idea for adapting the web series-turned-Korean film “The Beauty Inside.” Now, The Hollywood Reporter states the duo have found a home for their pitch in Fox 2000 and Temple Hill, and, in addition, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) has been attached to star in the lead female role.

Of all the many, many actors and actresses that roam the fantastical lands of Westeros, Emilia Clarke has scooped up a series of enticing roles beyond the parameters of Game of Thrones. From poignant romance in Me Before You to full-blown blockbuster territory with Terminator Genisys, not all of Clarke’s film roles have turned out exactly as planned – Genisys, for instance, was angled as a bona fide franchise-starter at Paramount, but scathing reviews and a low box office turnover forced the studio to scale back plans quite dramatically.
James Cameron’s iconic sci-fi series still has a future, it seems, but it’s one that won’t involve Emilia Clarke’s Sarah Connor, for better or worse. The actress still has plenty of projects cramming up the pipeline – Disney’s Han Solo movie, along with the two-season finale of Game of Thrones – and Deadline is reporting that Clarke has...

The wild card in the quartet of major Korean releases scheduled for this year's high summer season (alongside Assassination, Veteran and The Beauty Inside), the star-driven period spectacle Memories Of The Sword proves to be a perplexing experience with jarring tone shifts and unclear aims. Not even Lee Byung-hun and Jeon Do-yeon, two of Korea's most dependable stars, can rise above the material, while newcomer Kim Go-eun is an awkward anchor to the film's emotional heft. Rebels Seol-rang and Yu-baek used to fight side by side, until Yu-baek kills their leader Poong-chun and sides with the throne. Seol-rang escapes with Poong-chun's infant child and, after losing her sight, rears her to become a warrior. 18 years later, the young Hong-hee, who seeks to avenge the...

Last spring, word arrived that electronic artist Apparat would be scoring the sci-fi romance "Equals" starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult. It was promising news, and today the film's score has become an even more exciting proposition. Dustin O'Halloran, director Drake Doremus' previous collaborator on "Like Crazy," "Breathe In," and the web series "The Beauty Inside," has joined Apparat and the pair will co-score "Equals." Penned by Nathan Parker ("Moon"), and co-starring plus Guy Pearce, Jacki Weaver Kate Lyn Sheil and Toby Huss, the film follows Silas (Hoult) who lives in a future society called The Collective where everything is peaceful, calm, fair, and polite and there is no greed, no poverty, no violence, and no emotion. However, a new disease known as Switched-On-Syndrome brings back the emotions that have been long repressed in The Collective, and...

Drake Doremus is the kind of filmmaker we love to watch. Breaking out with his 2011 heartbreaker "Like Crazy," the filmmaker has stayed busy while also slowly and gradually expanding his horizons. His short film series "The Beauty Inside" for Hp found him playing with episodic storytelling, while keeping his intimate approach intact, and his upcoming "Breathe In" (our review) starring Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones was another well-observed look at the complex emotions of love and fidelity. And while we're still (frustratingly) waiting for that latter effort to hit screens in the U.S. (it played Sundance and has opened in the U.K., but Cohen Media Group are yet to unveil it here), he's lined up his next gig. And again, he's pushing things in some intriguing ways. Doremus is eyeing Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult to star in "Equals," a futuristic love story he's cooking up. Penned by...

It's safe to say that writer/director Drake Doremus knows his way around complicated romances and relationships. From the long distance pangs of "Like Crazy," to the fantastical urges of "The Beauty Inside" (watch it in full here), to the domestic heat of "Breathe In," he's turned over the tangles of men and women in a variety of satisfying set-ups, and now he's looking to change up the game. Currently doing press rounds in the U.K. to promote "Breathe In" which opens there this weekend, Doremus revealed his next movie will take his preoccupations to a whole other realm. "My next movie is going to be a sci-fi, love story written by Nathan Parker, writer of 'Moon.' An incredible collaborator, we’ve been working together for almost a year now and hopefully we’ll be making the movie sooner than later," he told Little White Lies. To which we have to say,...

The pain of love and the strains of fidelity seem to be recurring themes in the burgeoning career of filmmaker Drake Doremus. He burst onto the scene with the long distance romancer "Like Crazy," turned an Intel/Toshiba promo opportunity into the web series "The Beauty Inside" (watch it here) and now returns to the bruising pangs of love with "Breathe In." And the first trailer is here to provide a window into what he's conjured for his latest. Re-teaming with his "Like Crazy" lead Felicity Jones, and rounding up Guy Pearce and Amy Ryan, "Like Crazy" tells the story Keith (Pearce), a former rock musician and current music teacher, who has uneasily settled into a suburban life with his wife Megan (Ryan), though the fire in their marriage has long since extinguished. But some of that passion fire is sparks when Keith allows Sophie (Jones), a English foreign exchange student,...

As far as advertising campaigns go for computer products, Intel/Toshiba has really raised the bar. And while executive will wonder whether the investment will lead to more sales/awareness of their brand and products, cinephiles can just be happy it's another avenue for rising "Like Crazy" director Drake Doremus to show off his talents. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Topher Grace are along for the ride. Launched in the middle of the summer, with a social media campaign in which participants could earn a spot in the web series, it has now been completed and all six episodes of "The Beauty Inside" are online for you to check out. The concept is rather simple, with the narrative following Alex (voiced by Grace), a young man who wakes up each day with a different appearance, and it chronicles his attempts to find a meaningful relationship.
