The unrivaled Queen of the murder mystery, Agatha Christie, has had many of her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections receive the adaptation treatment, often at the hands of the BBC. Now, in an unsurprising yet exciting announcement cited via Radio Times, Christie is having another of her mysteries adapted by the Beeb, namely her 1967 novel Endless Night, which has received a three-part series order. The adaptation is already placed in the capable and experienced hands of The Sixth Commandment's Sarah Phelps, who has already made five separate Christie-based shows for the BBC, including And Then There Were None, The Witness for the Prosecution, and Ordeal by Innocence. Excited about her involvement, Phelps said in a statement:
"One of Agatha Christie’s last novels, this is a chilling story of love, sex, deceit and death, of how far we’ll go to get our heart's desire and what we...

The BBC and BritBox International have landed on Endless Night as their latest Agatha Christie adaptation from Sarah Phelps.
Set in 1967, the book is neither a Poirot or a Marple but follows man-of-many-trades Michael Rogers, who finds himself working as chauffeur for the enigmatic designer du jour Rudolf Santonix. Transfixed by Santonix’s latest project, a beautiful house in the English countryside, Mike dreams of meeting the love of his life and taking up residence. But unbeknownst to Mike, the house that he has set his heart on has a dark past that goes back for centuries.
The show is the latest in a long succession of Christie adaptations on the BBC and BritBox from Phelps and ITV Studios-owned Mammoth Screen, with the latest being Towards Zero starring Anjelica Huston. Fifth Season is selling worldwide.

Agatha Christie lived a life shrouded in mystery yet now the BBC is attempting to solve the riddle using artificial intelligence to bring the iconic author back to life.
BBC Studios has worked with Agatha Christie Limited to forge a writing course led by Christie for its BBC Maestro platform.
The news was unveiled at a swanky event at London’s Claridge’s hotel this afternoon in the presence of Christie’s great grandson James Prichard, who runs Agatha Christie Ltd, along with a host of top talent and BBC execs.
BBC Maestro, which runs e-courses led by talent like Harlan Coben and Jed Mercurio, has teamed with Christie’s estate, a professional actress and VFX artists to recreate her voice and likeness using AI-enhanced tech and restored audio recordings.
Christie is played by actress Vivien Keene in the course videos but her voice and appearance has been sharpened by artificial intelligence.

With the official trailer just released for Neon's upcoming movie The Life of Chuck, Stephen King fans simply can't wait to check out filmmaker Mike Flanagan's adaptation of the best-selling author's short story. It's a unique tale laid out by the horror mastermind best known for frightening novels like Cujo, Salem's Lot and It, since The Life of Chuck is alternatively a more uplifting tale. On that note, fans of acclaimed writer-director Mike Flanagan are certainly intrigued to see how this other master of horror has brought King's work to life on the big screen.
Flanagan has been in the horror game for years but shot to stardom with the release of his successful Netflix series, The Haunting of Hill House (2018). Then came Flanagan's hit follow-up, The Haunting of Bly Manor. Both shows star Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who recently caught up with MovieWeb while he was promoting his new miniseries,...

For close to two decades, Jack Nicholson and Anjelica Huston were one of Hollywood’s top power couples. And while the flame fizzled, Nicholson proved how much of a card he still is by offering Huston his home as a refuge for her as she evacuated during this year’s wildfires in Los Angeles.
Anjelica Huston recently spoke of how Jack Nicholson reached out, saying, “The phone just rang out of nowhere, and it was him. It’s always a comfort when he calls. It was heartbreakingly sweet. I’ve gone back over it several times in my head, and I think next time I’d accept the invitation.”
Anjelica Huston and Jack Nicholson don’t see each other much anymore, which comes down to a mixture of being busy and construction… “Life gets in the way. Also, for some reason, they’ve been doing endless rerouting and road work near his house,...

Growing up, whenever I heard the name Agatha Christie, it was generally because our family’s TV was tuned to PBS. And while what I’m about to say is in no way fair to the famed mystery writer’s rich oeuvre, nor its wide and varied body of television adaptations, it’s true: I pretty much associated the author’s name with stuffy-seeming men with signature mustaches, looking intrigued.

Academy Award-winner Anjelica Huston continues to steal the show in whichever project she's gracing. That includes the small screen, with the renowned American actress venturing over to the English territory for Agatha Christie's Towards Zero as her latest on-screen venture. For those who have read the iconic author's 1944 detective novel, Lady Tressilian is a key figure in the storyline — so it's a no-brainer that the role in a modern-day TV adaptation would go to a Hollywood staple like Huston.
Portraying the Lady's assistant in the TV show is Anjana Vasan (Black Mirror). Tressilian also has a grown son who has just scandalously taken a new lover when the miniseries begins, a beautiful young woman named Kay (played by Sex Education star Mimi Keene). MovieWeb recently caught up with Vasan and Keene in a paired interview leading up to the release of Towards Zero on BritBox. Both performers reflected...

A sun-soaked tale full of beautiful rich people doing terrible things, including a transgressive sexual act that’s got the tabloids foaming at the mouth. On paper, BritBox import “Towards Zero” sounds like another salacious drama to ride on the coattails of “The White Lotus.” Yet it stems, in fact, from the bygone era of cozy crime fiction where the only stiff appendage was the upper lip.
Indeed, following the likes of “And Then There Were None,” “The Pale Horse,” and “Ordeal by Innocence,” the 1930s tale is the latest Agatha Christie whodunit to get a semi-contemporary spin. And just like her predecessor, period drama queen Sarah Phelps, screenwriter Rachel Bennette gives the purists plenty to scream blue murder over.
“BBC viewers left stunned by ‘filthy’ X-rated scene,” was a typical conservative media headline after the three-part series premiered in the UK last month. “Is ‘Towards Zero’ the raciest Agatha Christie ever?...

After six years, Anjelica Huston is opening up about her experience with privately overcoming cancer.
Noting that her “bout of cancer” came after the release of her 2019 movie John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, the Oscar winner said she’s now “in the clear” with her health.
“That was a very serious moment for me. I managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself,” she told People. “It’s not something that came lightly. It came as a big shock, but it made me conscious of what I shouldn’t do, of places I shouldn’t go. One of those places was taking life too seriously. So now when the opportunity arises, I laugh, and I try not to make a big deal out of things.”
Although Huston didn’t clarify the kind of cancer with which she was diagnosed, she said she’s reached the “four-year mark” of being cancer-free.

Anjelica Huston was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, just after shooting John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, but she chose not to make it public. Only now, four years after getting the all-clear, is she speaking out about it.
Huston believes in keeping her private life private and though she was happy to share some details with People magazine, she opted not to tell them what kind of cancer it was. But she did muse on how it was a "serious moment" for her, and that she was "proud" of herself for surviving it.

A lush Italian villa becomes the backdrop for sex, deception, and betrayal in the new thriller Electra. The Apprentice's Maria Bakalova stars in the film, which is the debut feature from Hala Matar. An intriguing premise deserves an equally intriguing poster, and Electra certainly has that. Collider can exclusively reveal the first poster for the film, which will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
The film centers around two journalists who travel to an isolated Italian villa to interview a famous musician and his partner. However, everything is not as it seems, and all four of them soon become ensnared in a web of deceit. Matar is the first Bahraini woman to make a feature film in history, and her film is an exploration of "the dangers of leaving wounds unhealed and the masks we wear to belong—how avoiding the hard work of self-confrontation only deepens the fracture."

Eleven years ago, filmmaker Lior Geller’s aunt died, and Geller flew to London to help with funeral arrangements.
As a child, Geller’s Aunt Rebecca had lived in Bukovina, now an area in northern Romania, but had been sent away to hide with other children before her parents were deported ahead of the Nazi invasion of World War II. Miraculously, the family all survived the near-extermination of the region’s Jews and reunited after the war.
For Geller, Rebecca’s eventual death in 2013 was a personal turning point. “I remember thinking that the last Holocaust-survivor relative I had just passed away, and no one even knew her story,” he said. “That’s why I started researching.”

“Towards Zero” reinterprets a classic Agatha Christie mystery against the lavish backdrop of the 1930s. The series unfolds on a coastal estate where high society gathers, and a murder mystery slowly takes shape.
The narrative introduces a renowned tennis star whose complicated personal life sets the stage for a collision of aristocratic traditions and emerging modern ideas. This tale of secrets and personal dilemmas unfolds at a stately estate, where whispered family scandals and veiled resentments gradually lead to unforeseen violence.
The production captures a refined visual world, its detailed period costumes and expansive coastal views offering a window into a time marked by rigid social codes and subtle rebellions. The series juxtaposes carefully orchestrated elegance with the quiet tension simmering beneath its polished surface.
A tangled personal conflict emerges as the central character navigates a relationship caught between two very different women, each representing contrasting aspects of an evolving society.

A tangled web of jealousy, deceit and dysfunction drives the trailer for BritBox’s Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero detective drama, which dropped on Friday.
Angelica Huston stars as Lady Tressilian who hosts her favorite nephew, British tennis star Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) and his new wife Kay (Mimi Keene) and ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lily Hyland) in an aristocratic estate.
“You’ll not make a mockery of marriage under my roof,” Lady Tressilian warns Strange and his new wife as their nasty love triangle threatens to upend her summer house party. Of course being an Agatha Christie yarn set in England 1936, that disreputable unfinished business between the former sweethearts is followed by a violent death.
And that has Inspector Leach, played by Matthew Rhys, soon on the scene to ferret out a murderer from a colorful collection of suspects: a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge,...

The Silence of the Lambs has so many perfect parts. The performances, plot twists, hard-hitting dialogue, shocking violence, feminist themes and those wildly inventive camera angles. Sure, subjective Pov cinematography was done long before Jonathan Demme's Oscar-winning masterpiece, but his clever use of the visual device would go on to inspire other filmmakers for decades. That includes Sam Yates, director of the new neo-noir film Magpie, now playing in select theaters.

It’s shaping up to be a Huston family Christmas.
Siblings and Hollywood royalty Anjelica and Danny Huston are teaming on a new project, The Christmas Witch Trial of La Befana, a hybrid animated and live-action feature film that is currently shooting in Los Angeles and Ontario, Canada.
HighballTV confirmed the details of the film, which was written by David James Brock and HighballTV’s Melissa D’Agostino based on an idea they conceived with Matt Campagna who is also directing with D’Agostino, a frequent creative partner. Johnathan Sharp is producing.
The plot follows a peculiar court case that unspools after the children in a rural Italian village kidnap their legendary Christmas witch, played by Huston, and put her on trial in an attempt to stop her annual judgment from their lives. While casting a spell through witches, fantasy and Italian folklore, the project is said to touch on universal themes of grief,...
