A new offensive on well-known anime and manga piracy sites has come via mass deletions of comment sections, as Disqus withdraws support over copyright infringement.

Torrent Freak reports that a swathe of piracy sites have been hit with notices from the popular embedded commenting platform Disqus, informing the sites that all comments made through its service will be deleted. Targets include KickAssAnime, with over 23 million visits in February, Bato.to (24.6 million) and many more. Readers can check out Disqus' letter addressed to KickAssAnime below.

Legality aside, piracy site comment sections have long served as important communities for fans, perhaps best evidenced in recent months by the strong reaction to Crunchyroll disabling its comment section. Many believe it was in response to 'review-bombing' and homophobic abuse during episodes of the boys' love anime Twilight Out of Focus.

Most anime fans would tell others that the best way to watch anime is with the original Japanese audio with subtitles. When I heard that Jyanome’s Twilight Out of Focus was getting an anime adaptation, I knew it would be one of my favorite releases of 2024. Twilight Out of Focus is one of the newest romance anime released this season. This Bl love story is a romantic tale of teenagers at an all-boys school finding love. There are a few couples featured in Twilight Out Of Focus, but Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Otomo have had the most romantic scenes so far.

Official production staff behind one of the hottest -- and certainly strangest -- anime series of the Summer 2024 season have just reimagined Rambo as a whole new breed of action hero.

In an August 3 X (formerly Twitter) post from the anime's official PR account, Sylvester Stallone's iconic John Rambo is given the My Deer Friend Nokotan treatment. In the attached image, the titular anime character is seen bearing her classic Japanese schoolgirl outfit and fantastical antlers, but with massive muscles and holding a rocket launcher with flames filling the background, while holding the same pose that Rambo is also seen in the iconic theatrical release poster for 1985's Rambo: First Blood Part II.
