This show is full of surprises, intense and emotional, I'm in love with Victoria and Albert (please marry in the real life), they are a very unique couple, going through everything together and having such wonderful moments... Scenes of Tom Hughes in this episode were incredible and so powerful, the developt of his character It's unbelievable, give an Emmy to that man!

flash-1047 January 2020While remaining entertaining drama, this episode of Victoria has jumped the shark as historically accurate fiction; none of the most prominent things probably happened. The Upstairs revelation, while consistent with the historical record (though not the casting), is only a theory, and not the most likely one. The mandatory Downstairs plot has finally abandoned the pretense of a connection between the names of its characters and real people. The connection between the two plots has succumbed to the mandatory twenty-first century trope that characters in an historical drama, of whatever century, are only admirable when their attitudes are actually from 1968, and make them disregard their duties in their actual time.

Hitchcoc22 January 2018Albert receives news that his father has died. He passes while having sex with a prostitute. Albert is stunned because he and his father have had few kind words. He spends time with his brother and uncle and some harsh secrets are revealed that cause huge pain to Albert. While there, Victoria is having a hard time ruling. She is also having a terrible time dealing with her newborn child who will be the Prince of Wales and king thereafter. A tragedy in a factor forces Victoria to get among the people. Another subplot is the release to the public that a boy has managed to gain access to the castle. This upsets everyone. The Prince makes threats to the servants, wanting to know who leaked the story. We see more human frailty in Albert because of what he has heard. He must decide what the honorable thing is to do.

bobcobb30117 August 2018It wasn't a bad episode, and certainly dealt with an interesting time in history, but for some reason I just can't get excited about some of the Albert-centric storylines they give us.
Tom Hughes is not a bad actor, but it just isn't working this season. I was not sympathetic to his struggle at all.
