This episode has to be the best of the entire series in my opinion. It was so emotional it made me shed some tears.
  • Everything about this episode was spectacular. Heart-warming, honest, and engrossing story-telling, great direction and editing, great acting, amazing dialogue. It just had everything. This is one of the absolute best TV episodes of all time. This one deserves an award.

Very good flashback episode showing how Howie joined the 118. Not just a rehash of Hen's episode either. Actually tied in well with the end of the last episode. Great music too.

And behold fire in a firefighter serie.

I was afraid it would be a cheeky episode, but it was a nice origin story with nice emotions and good talks between the crew.

As a firefighter I understand a lot of the talks in this episode. Yeah it is dramatized and over the top on the incidents, but the talks are well thought of and make sense.

The hard way of dealing with the proby with the captain...it seems like a rerun from Hen. Leadership like that wouldn't be tolerated that long (or maybe I just used to other kind of leadership😉). But it gives a nice layer in the way the backstory is created.

And yes, fire (which I miss on the series)
  • This episode highlights the range of Kenneth Choi's skills as an actor. I'm not a regular viewer of this show, but I'll watch it if nothing else is on. It was refreshing to see an entire episode about his character & back story. Kenneth Choi was the best part of this episode and I'm excited to see more of his work in the future. The second best part of the episode was Lou Ferrigno Jr. ;)

Although it was nice to see apart of his life story...I wish it was longer so we didn't have to wait longer I'm impatient and need to watch next episode now have to wait a whole week unless they are having another break 😭
  • Spent the whole episode reminiscing about Howie. Who cares! Get on with the story.

I get doing the back story thing. But did we really need to see Howie go through basically the same thing that Hen did as a rookie? Last year's episode Hen Begins was much better and more compelling.

Great episode but really wished we could have seen something about the last episode and not just about Howie
  • Total waste of an hour. Who cares is all I'm left asking after wasting my time on this filler episode. I'd rather have had a week off than this garbage.
  • Just as things were getting interesting, they decide to bore us with another useless character centric episode. True it wasn't as whiny and filled with self indulgent bs, like that Hen episode was. But still, that's not why I've decided to keep watching. The thing with this show, is that it takes itself so seriously sometimes, it's very off putting. Which lacks honesty too. Obvious bait and switch...
