The acting in this is so over the top and hammy, or should be criminal.

The story line is a good one, where a family owned B&B is threatened with foreclosure just before Christmas. The family works to save it in time and there's the evil blanket eh doesn't want them to. All the banker lacks is the moustache he twirls as he's plotting against Moose and Squirrel.

The lead actress.. Did she take acting lessons from "Over Emote Inc."? Is she related to someone involved in the writing or producing if this movie? Is that how she got the gig?

The script is weak and predictable.

The filming isn't as clean as it could have been. The lens seems to have a light film of Vaseline over it.

The editing is hilarious when people talk and their lips aren't moving, and vice versa.

I watched to the end only because I wanted to know I was right.
  • My daughter and I love Christmas movies. I look forward to the season just for them. While watching with my daughter I was thinking this was one of the stupidest Christmas rom com's I've ever seen. Then a lightbulb moment occurred! Tada! It's a parody of a Hallmark Christmas movie! After that I was able to enjoy it more. Not sure if that was the original intent, but it sure seems that way.
  • I watched this "made for TV" movie last night. It was okay for killing time but it wasn't that good. I know how it is to work with unknown actors. You could tell that the actors had little experience with their crafts. But this is what I expect from films like this. But I understand that actors have to start somewhere. I call these films one of those twenty movies made in a week at a churn-mill that are made only for TV. Locations were nice but the direction was really bad.

This movie was not good. The writing was atrocious, the editing was awful, and the story line was choppy. Things were happening but not explained. I'm not a Banker or Hedge-fund manager so I didn't understand exactly what happened to her money except that it was stolen.

This has some of the most laughably bad lighting and editing I've ever seen in a commercially released movie. In more than one scene the light completely changes from one POV to the next. One scene in particular stands out as a clunker: the bank guy and his fat buddy are in his office. The one guy is sitting. Then it cuts to show the guy walking to the chair they just showed him seated in! And the other guy is doing something like they didn't even know they had started rolling.!!! Just laughably bad and edited by someone who apparently had no concept of what editing involved or apparently had never seen a film before.
  • I like pretty much all made for tv romance movies. I've watched 100s but this one was unfortunately sooo bad! The plot was so patchy and unrealistic and bad. Acting was over the top. I'm writing this review to make sure no one else wastes their time.
  • There is nothing good to say about this movie - poor writing, stilted acting, unlikable characters and muddled direction - I could not stand to watch it to the end.

If this was made to be a parody of Christmas movies then it did well. I honestly believe this is the worst movie I have ever seen made unless showtime is doing some charity thing where they take submissions for films made by junior high kids on an iPhone. I am sure the people who made it care for it greatly but my friends and I will now make a Christmas tradition to watch and laugh at this "film." Plot is all over the place and makes so little sense.

    Warning: Spoilers
Who edited this? Three people? Including the director/writer/producer, Mr. Hudson? Did you guys see it before sending it for screening?! So out of sync! The premise was not that bad albeit the fact that the storyline was a copy of You've Got Mail. But too many, just too many mistakes, carelessness, sloppy writing, lighting problems, technical issues, and one of the most botched and poor editing I have ever seen. Ms. Redmond's acting was tolerable; Mr. Jones overacted; Ms. McGuire was professional! Goodness! I wanted to relax after a 10-hour shift at the urgent care. What I watched gave me a heartburn!

    Warning: Spoilers
About 39 minutes and 50 seconds into the movie the editor put in about 20 seconds of scrape footage where the actors aren't talking but their dialogue is on the sound track. Really!?! The scrape footage shows the lead actor placing a prop (a necklace) on the ground so he can find it and pick it up later in the scene. It's amazing that the editor missed all this.

There is also a huge flaw in the plot line. The lead actress's $2 million house is being foreclosed upon a bank that is owed just $30 thousand dollars. All she had to do was go to another bank and take out a mortgage. The whole city knew about the foreclosure. It was even in the paper, but not a single person suggested that she refinance. Really?!?

Finally, what is with the video image quality. My Galaxy phone could do better. Really!
  • If Tommy Wiseau made Christmas movies they wouldn't hold a candle to this masterpiece. Brace yourself for the dramatic twists and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Watch for easter eggs like cars that are missing doors, and awkwardly dubbed over scenes where clearly people are meant to be talking but aren't moving their mouths. And if Christmas isn't your thing that's fine, other than a few scenes taking place at a Christmas party and it being cold outside, this movie has nothing to do with the holiday. 10/10 would watch again.
  • Lots of irony in this movie with the location and the obvious satirical nature of it.

This movie is just awful. Some of the scenes have horrible acoustics. The acting is just not good and the script is disastrous. How is the devious banker both evil and supposedly Mr. Charming? Makes no sense. The only saving graces of this film are the set and Sarah McGuire, who is the only true actor in this Grade C movie. She's likable, authentic, and engaging. The movie itself is just ugh...
  • Pros: PG rating, title location, actor who plays the son of the male lead.

Cons: Casting, acting, script, pace, directing, lighting, cinematography, sound, continuity, production/sets/locations, editing, costumes....

I wish I could get back the two hours of life I wasted on the unfulfilled hope that there would be more than three small redeeming qualities to this movie. Not a bad rough draft, though. They must have run out of money before they even started. So sad.

Some may claim this is a parody; but, unfortunately, even if that was true, it was a very bad parody. It was uneven with no redeeming qualities at all. The only bright spot was the lovely inn. The only way this dog could have been salvaged is if they made it into a silent film, while showing clips of the inn.
  • Who approved this? It's hilariously bad, but not the B movie kind of bad that makes it good...it's just bad. The storyline is a typical lifetime type movie plot. I think lifetime movies have better acting and editing...
  • I don't tune into today's TV Christmas movies expecting an Oscar worthy experience, but this offering is horrible! The cast seemed to do the best with what they were given, so good job there, but the writing and story line are atrocious. How did this EVER get made?

I wanted to watch a cozy christmas movie and I thought I was getting that but the whole entire movie was pretty bad. The editing was horrific, there were scenes that were dubbed, strange cuts that would appear that had nothing to do with the current scene, and lastly, bad acting. I think Hallmark or Lifetime does a better job for sure and that is saying a lot! And the story...omg. It didn't make sense, I didn't like the ending, it didn't make sense about how they had to save the "Shakespeare Chateau". I felt the characters needed to make amends clearly before they would reach a resolution, which was choppy at best...no way would I or anyone would "fall in love" with someone after they stole their money. I just don't get it. Overall, I was entertained but let down by the way it ended, but my boyfriend and I laughed throughout because of how bad it was, we both agreed it was like watching a student film. Anyway, I'd skip it, and watch something else.
  • While there are actors, writers, directors, producers, who are rejected for far better scripts, acting, and production value, these drecks got PAID FOR THIS? And Showtime is paying to air it?

Come on Man! Women are not this stupid and so desperately in need of romance to waste their time on this!
  • This movie has no redeeming qualities.

    • The storyline is unbelievable (as in: does not ring true at any point)
    • The directing (if there was any) is really bad
    • The acting is mediocre
    • They must have had a bad day at the cutting board (they could impossibly spent more than a day)
    • The lightning is terrible (in one scene they even frequently switch between one camera with a dark filter and one without)

The film feels like it's a bad film from the 1970's even though it's supposedly made in 2019.

My big question is to those that have given this film 10/10: What have you been smoking? It must be some really heavy stuff.

I never write reviews but I really enjoyed this movie. It's a smaller budget movie that's easily clear. I however would love to watch more of these people. I think the leads did a great job and I really feel in love with the story of the movie. It had some moments that weren't done well and I think those things can be ironed out. What you have here is a strong Christmas movie with a great cast. I looked up the leads and saw this was some of their first movies. I must see keep going? I would really enjoy a sequal to Christmas at the Chateau. I would really love to see where the story takes our young couple. Or I would just love to see more of the very pretty small town. I think the lead has a strong career in acting. I hope to see more of her. She truly brought the lights down with the ending. Very strong supporting cast as well. I really enjoy the son and father. Also the banking friend of the lead was amazing and very funny. Please keep it up!!!!
  • The best part of this movie is that it was filmed entirely on location in my home town of Saint Joseph, Missouri. I loved seeing places in this charming city, especially the down town locations and library. The B&B is a real one and I might visit it sometime on a trip back home. It's a huge bit of nostalgia for me.

That said, It was a nice first attempt for the folks who made it, hopefully they will learn from the experience and the comments about technical qualities etc. In the reviews. Don't be discouraged by them use them to improve your next project. Please, Please, Please do another film in the future in Saint Joe. Perhaps, next time include the beautiful Krug park and the parkway system at the peak of autumn? Or even a multi seasonal thing.

I'll refrain from commenting on the acting and technical qualities, even though I have no ties to the movie making business, I could tell that it definitely was lacking in the acting, writing and filming fronts. I didn't expect this to be a Hollywood level production. It is what it is, learn, grow and try again! I'm glad you made the effort!

I LOVE Hallmark movies, but not this one. Sappy acting and no continuity.

I happened on it via YouTube, because it showed up in my YouTube suggested movies. That's because I'd Googled a couple of other titles.

If appears there are LOTS of UNAUTHORIZED Hallmark Movies uploaded on YouTube. YouTube really needs to check those that upload.

Watched 20 minutes of this movie, hoping it would get better. NOT!
  • This has to be the worst Xmas movie ever made. It's indescribable! I mean, the acting is complete garbage. The directing? Horrendous. The script? Unbearable.

The audio quality, too, sounds homemade and just terrible. A high school video production has way more appeal. Don't waste your holiday spirit on this piece of dog doo!

This movie was awful. And the worst part is there aren't even any commercials to fast forward through. Just almost two hours of an unwatchable movie.
