  • Although it is not the most ambitious film in history, it does fulfill its goal of entertaining.
  • Not actually terrible. That's not to say it's anything close to good, but it did surprise me ever so slightly; especially after an extremely ropy first 5-10 minutes.

Ricardo Hurtado (Tyler) is OK as the film's lead, while Alkoya Brunson (Eric) has most of the somewhat amusing moments. The premise is watchable, though only after the awful initial school scenes that made me fear the worst. Once they reach Malibu everything does move in the correct direction - still with some major issues, of course.

There's also a running gag throughout featuring Michael Mourra (Jeffy), which is mildly funny; he's used for the predictable interludes, but it is done in a way that is kinda different. I appreciate that.

Great call making 'Malibu Rescue' run for just 69mins, any longer would have deteriorated my rating massively. I see this has also turned into a television series, I'm not sure I could put up with it for 8 episodes; though I'll probably return when the sequel film is released.
  • Look, this isn't "Schindler's List." Don't expect cinematic, dramatic grandeur; this is light, sunny and sandy family-friendly fare that thoroughly thrilled our young ones and kept the adults sufficiently amused. Sometimes, especially as the weather warms for the summer months, that's really all any of us need.

If you can accept it as that, without expecting more from it than what it is, you will enjoy it.

Also enjoyable: seeing Steve Sanders back on the beach, especially those of Malibu, just like in those "Beverly Hills: 90210" days. Ziering plays the role well and feels like such a natural by the water. Watch it if for Ziering alone!
  • Seriously that is the worst movie on Netflix. And I don't me it's really bad. It is so bad that I just made this account to warn you that it is the worst movie I've ever seen on Netflix. The storyline sucks, the dialogues are awful and the movie doesn't follow any logic at all. And... oh i just saw a scene where the supervisors broke the Geneva convention. Watch on own risk.
  • Man, I'm so tired of uppity antagonist ALWAYS being Caucasian male. Its so social media programing.

One very odd thing about this formula is that it means most movies employ more C. males than other races, because the 'bad guy' is always C male, while the 'good guys' are usually a selection from each race.

Some of the modern TV series are starting to insert various races into the antagonist character, (more acting jobs for the minority races)

There were some running gags in this that made it funny, but for me the constant pounding of the Evil C. male eventually had me turning it off about half way through.
  • If you're a fan of the old nick and Disney made for TV movies this will fit right in. If your looking for good plot, writing, and acting you're watching the wrong movie.

Really good watch, probably won't watch again, but can recommend. (Was excited to see there is a sequel)

A "troupe of misfits", "coming of age" story that is very well produced. Disney likes to push the "throw enough money at it" concept, but a good movie / show / franchise doesn't come together without a good cast that works well together. This movie has a fun cast that really embodies their characters.

Overall humor is good, but it's about a California beach for privileged people, so you can only do so much with it. They specifically had to use a group of characters that "don't belong there", and that's all based on a California inside joke of the "valley" now being a place where poor (average) people live.

A movie where "ha ha, you don't even have a butler" could be a conceivable joke is never going to be great unless that is the entire focal point of the movie ("Would You Rather", "Knives Out", "Paradise Falls"), and even then it needs both unique and great itself.

This might be great for younger audiences, but most adults are likely to go, "Sure, that was good" and then never think about it again.
  • I watched this movie, and I can't wait for the series. This is great for kids of all ages. There is absolutely no profanity, it's family friendly, and a fun show to watch. This is not a show for an adult want to be kid, so stop bashing our kid shows you childish adults. I'm glad to see some of our kids promoting positive values, and being good role models that our young people can follow. Parents if you're looking for a show that your kids can watch and get a good clean laugh from good clean jokes then Malibu Rescue is the show, and Series to watch. This is like a Baywatch for KIDS!!!
  • Super cute and fun! Perfect summer movie, whole hearted with good jokes. Made me smile!
  • People are reviewing this movie as if it's a documentary or a movie for adults. Neither are the case. I will make this pretty simple, if you liked the old Nickelodeon movies such as Snow Day, then you'll like this. It's funny and stays away from the political agenda non-sense in a lot of netflix movies today. This is FAR from the worst thing on netflix. If you're looking for a comedy intended for KIDS, and enjoy the old NIckelodeon movies, then you'll enjoy this.
  • Surprised to see so many negative reviews, granted this is no Avenger series or even a Wonder Woman. Neither does this movie pretend to be one, it's a straight up feel good movie and that's what it succeeds in doing.

Dont go with a high expectations and you won't be disappointed
  • This show is awesome. It is well written, very funny, and a quality show that is Rarely produced these days. The cast has great synergy. Highly recommend.
  • Malibu Rescue is a good beach movie for kids in the new generation. Some is a bit cliche but it's alright.
