  • There is a fine line between respecting the intellectual property and expanding it. Do too little of the latter and you get an army of fans complaining you've destroyed their childhood. But do too much of the former and you get something that lacks any mystery. Unfortunately this is the case of Scorpion's Revenge. Nice animation, decent voice acting and a lot of violence. But in the end it's the same old story of Scorpion getting his family killed and seeking revenge against the same people. The characters are a subset of those in Mortal Kombat II plus Quan-Chi, with cameos for some of them, like short Kitana and Jax sequences, a Motaro for a few seconds, no other ninjas or robots except Scorpion and Sub-Zero (and too little of that one), no Kung Lao and no Jade or Mileena. It promises a sequel where we can see more of Shao-Khan, who only appears at the end, Thanos style.

That being said, the film was solid from start to end, with entertaining fight scenes. I dare say, though, that the beginning of the film was way better than the rest. If they would have continued in the same style, first of all it would have been a Japanese anime, second of all it would have been awesome!

Bottom line: only in this crazy world you can see a WB logo where Daffy Duck is being grabbed by Scorpion's "Get over here!". What I want is an R rated MK movie with Mileena as the antihero. Make it happen , WB!
  • I wasn't expecting a perfect R-rated animated film. It has all the badass moments, incredible fight scenes, and humor, and they also show one of the best bloody gory fatalities that I enjoyed and they actually delivered it very well. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is an awesome animated film to watch.
  • When I started watching it and seen it was WB,I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. I was blown away by it.I've been waiting for something good to come out of Mortal Kombat forever, and boy did I get it. All the characters ya know from the series and they didn't hold back at all with the blood and gore you would expect from MK. Its the best MK movie ever made hands down. I only hope WB stays with MK and makes many more of its caliber.
  • Scorpion's revenge is a retelling of the first Mortal Kombat game, upon which the first live action film was based. However, it delves more into Scorpion's background and how he came to be the undead vengeful spirit / yellow ninja that fans have come to love. It's every bit as gory as you'd expect and then some. This animated film isn't for the squeamish. You'll see plenty of evicerations, decapitations, impalings, and nonstop blood and guts. This isn't a kiddie cartoon by any means, nor should you expect it to be. The animation and A-list voicework was superb. Warner pulled no punches here.

    WTF
I loved it, now why cant live action do screenplays like this amazing animated movie please continue series
  • Warning: Spoilers
Movie was good , it had nice little references of the game but it lacked some iconic characters like: kung lao, mileena , ermac , cyrax , smoke , night wolf, kenshi, etc kitana only got 3 minutes of screen time which is a bummer Some other characters got killed off before we we even get to watch them in action It was mostly focused on the earth realm fighters not complaining but It would've been alot better if we'd seen some more scenes from other characters And I "personally" think it was a lost chance for an R rated movie with that much violence not to have a split second of sexual scenes in it , the movie didn't even show kitanas full height! All the scenes was from waist up. But honestly it wasn't that bad and it's worth watching there were some cheesy lines that were noticeable too, not too much to ruin the experience but still , showing that sonya blade is an awesome warrior and a fierce fighter is great but adding lines like "this is no place for a little girl" to the mix only kinda ruins it Still it was pretty good
  • I absolutely loved it, it's not perfect but it's great, the fight scenes are full of impact and gruesome moments, the humor in this animation (most of it comes from Johnny Cage) is also a positive, the main character... Well, I love Scorpion but I really think they could have gave him more depth, maybe it was limited because of the movie's length which is way too short but, that's probably why it's so fun.

It's a fast-paced, impressive and very entertaining movie, loved it.
  • MKLSR is bloody and sadistic.

The story is the cliché story of them coming to a realm to fight to the death. Blah blah blah. You know the rest. Something's although are different. This version is about Scorpion. It's like an Origin story for Scorpion.

The twist with Sub zero felt rushed. The whole film felt empty. You see tons of people in the beginning then they disappear.

The production was excellent. The violence was the most violent I've ever seen in a cartoon. Its top-notch gore and they didn't PC it down for the children. The Only thing that was an error was Cage's character. Cage seemed like he was on the spectrum.

    What can be learned? Hope.

    Verdict: Get over here.
  • Surprisingly good for an animation, probably better than the films. Excellent effects and descent story line to go with it.

After reading the reviews, I really expected something amazing. It's not the worst movie I've sat through, but it just didn't live up to the hype. It's definitely the most violent animated film I've ever watched, but that's cool that's Mortal Kombat for ya. One of my biggest gripes is that the story seemed rushed and modified unnecessarily. This would have been a lot better as a 2 part movie. The character design was good, but the animation itself is choppy. Last, much of the dialog sounds like it was written by an 11 year old who thinks he sounds cool cursing when his parents aren't around. I'm no prude to profanity, but so much it just sounds forced... like kids do.

Honestly, I hope you enjoy the movie. You paid for it after all. Just don't be surprised if it's not what you're expecting.
  • Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is everything you want in a Mortal Kombat Animated movie: Bloody action, bad language, everything. It is so good. The movie does not deserve a 6.6. It deserves a 10 out of 10.

One of the best animated series, please continue, we need more.
  • How many times will they retell this same story? First, a videogame, then a movie, then remake each at least once more and do a few t.v shows.

This is perfectly fine for what it is. I liked it a hell of a lot more than this year's live action. It's not Shakespear, and it's not meant to be.

We have here the same story, more or less, but with the liberties that animation gives to the writers, plus the Scorpion plot integrated. That means more characters, more action, more fan service, and a bit more story too.

And it is perfect. The animation quality is off the charts. I love the designs, but that depends on the viewer. The bloody battles, the humor, the fast pace, the craziness. Everything works.

I guess some voice actors are better than others (Sony and Shang Tsung are kind of weak, Scorpion and Cage great, the rest more than fine). The score is good but not awesome, and the dialogue is what you can expect (serviceable to advance the story and not much more than that). What this movie does is this: I want more animated Mortal Kombat movies, and I'm desperate to see if they can translate this level of passion for the IP to the live action movies. I can't conceive how a fan wouldn't like it. I don't know about non fans.

    Thanks. Thanks for this.

In this animation, MK is as it should be. Live action movies unfortunately are not of this quality. It has high-paced action. It's definitely not boring. There isn't much character depth. But the fights in the tournament will satisfy fans of the game. Although the fights are a bit short, many characters are given enough space. Considering the duration of the animation, the stories are partially handled well. There are humorous dialogues. They stayed true to the story in this successful production. The good news is that there's plenty of blood and gore, just like in the game. Mortal Kombat fans should definitely watch this production. They won't regret it. The character I choose most while playing this game is Scorpion.

The action scenes were totally epic and spine-shivering..... enjoyed alot love the story line and the well built character background 👌
  • If done right, Mortal Kombat has the potential to become a billion dollar franchise! This movie, while it does have some changes from the original story, takes a step in the right direction.

    Warning: Spoilers
The movie starts incredibly well but unfortunately that's where it ends. The plot could have went more towards the story of Scorpion and give us the once a generation story but it shoe horns in liu Kang, Johnny cage and Sonya. The three of them are really unnecessary here and Sonya blade is way too over powered, so much so she fights midway through the movie and it was so unrealistic it took me right out of the movie.

Had the story focused on Scorpion and him moving through the tournament it would have been more cohesive. He has a fight with Sub-Zero and it's extremely anticlimactic. Disappointed.
  • Bring on more animated mortal kombat movies with a story from every known character.
  • This movie surprised me indeed.. It had a lot of action and it sure wasn't milk toast at all, very fitting of the mortal Kombat name for sure. I almost can't believe that this movie was produced and put out.
