  • Forget the bad acting, tension n suspense is lacking in this film. Apart from the attractive babe Katya, nothing is good in this film.
  • A teen thriller to enjoy your late Halloween celebrations. What brings genius to the simple plot of friendship and love being celebrated on New Year's Eve is the length of time the script holds the audience's attention throughout the entire film with much of it taking place in a gondola.

Creative dream sequences, aerial cinematography and scenescapes of the Russian mountain ranges are tactfully used to build suspense and propel the story between the friends who inevitably begin turning on one another.

The characters aren't developed enough for us to genuinely connect with them as they slowly begin turning on one another. The rapid descend into madness by some of the characters is a little hard to swallow with extreme measures being taken that barely make sense

The whole movie I was like": Put the bloody hood on!!!!!"'
  • This is possibly the worse played out movie from the starting pointing, to the climax, to the resolution. They tried to make it a realistic thriller but made events so un-real that the whole time you're thinking "that would never happen in real life" and it frustrates you to a point of no end. Once is reaches its climax there is a whole hour before it ends and it's drawn out. Only watch this movie if you're quarantined due to the coronavirus.
  • Watchable, but forgettable.

    Awesome mountain vistas.

Awful english audio dub, Would be better with subtitles.

Character portrayals did not elicit much empathy.

And, yes, if you are stuck in freezing cold temperatures and wearing a winter coat with a hood attached, probably a good idea to put the hood on --Even if if would cover up that attractive yet incredibly wind and snow resistant hairdo!
  • The voice overs were just terrible. Not even laughably terrible. Just all around bad. Maybe would of been better if the movie was in subtitles. Couldn't get through more than an hour. Had a couple decent scenes but nothing very entertaining. Wouldn't recommend it.
  • The idea of the movie being stolen from very cool movie Frozen 2010, even the hand that got stuck to the cold metal ...

Adam Green should be...gracious someone wanted to make an indirect sequel to his Frozen.

I like the same sub-genre film, Open Water and yes, I totally dug its frightful sequel, and even though this technically isn't also a franchise, it might as well been. 4 peeps are stuck, New Year's Eve, 100 meters off the ground, during a blizzard in a gondola lift. Kinda the same thing, with less shelter, in Adam Green's Frozen about 3 stuck on a ski lift for days.

For some reason, this one struct more of a cord with me since I am deathly afraid of heights and these victims were far less restrained and always on the edge of falling. I can't tell you how many heart attacks I narrowly avoided while watching this.

It's not all praise I had for this, sadly. I'm hoping there was a subtitled version because the dubbed version was so hard to deal with. Their voices were incredibly annoying and fit none of the characters. Almost a mockery of them. I'd rather read my movies than deal with 5th rate dubbing voices.

Also, it's painfully obvious this film had a severely low budget. I can recall three main scenes of great peril and all of them were no-show, cut-aways, the last being in the climax. And this wasn't Jaws; this wasn't because of suspense. It was downright budgetary.

You know how Hollywood loves to remake foreign films by the dozens? America, if you're listening, REMAKE THIS. Heck, a $5 million budget probably could cover all we needed to see.

Despite poor quality and predictability, if you're afraid of heights and love movies that scare you: watch this.

    ***

Final Thoughts: The character who gave me the most anxiety with my Falling Fear, was gorgeous. I know several men in my life that look like him, only all non-white. Of course, that doesn't matter; I'll take any of them. All of them, if given the chance.

    Anyways...
  • I think I would have liked this movie more if I'd seen it in the original Russian language. The bad dubbing totally destroyed the movie. Thank god I live in Europe where we get to see almost every movie with the original audio. With subtitles. So what. We can read. Tecnically a good enough movie, to keep you watching.
  • Bad script, bad acting, bad sxf. Don't waste your time on this one. Just pass

If you remember and enjoyed the movie Frozen from 2010 then you just might like this. Both acting and story line are good in my opinion. If you are into highy commercialized over budget movies then this might not be your cup of tea. I disagree with the person that said don't bother with this film. Maybe the thirteen version of Transformers is more his flavor.

Nicely put together with slick graphics and a good looking cast.

The film has a good premise however it needed more of a build up, we needed to get to know these people prior to them getting into the doomed ski lift.

Its also a little cheesy and could have used a better dub.

All that said, it's a neat Friday night teen thriller.
  • Many reviewers have compared this to and recommended watching the movie "Frozen". I have seen both, and I think Break is actually a better and much more entertaining than Frozen. When the characters are presented in a life/death situation you can really see how there personalities change as far as who is only look out for themselves , who is ruthless and who is calm and clever, and who will turn on one another. To a degree it is predictable, but I don't think anyone is going to expect a smooth ride on a lift. It was about an hour and twenty minutes and it actually went by quickly.

It's impossible to talk about this movie, without talking about Frozen from Adam Green. This is the Russian version of Frozen and while it is not really bad, it's not good either.

    So So
The idea for this movie is great, but the script is too boring

Can anybody help me what is the songs the man listen to on his Apple Music?

I thought this looked really good, the trailer hyped it. I was able to overlook the dubbing and subpar acting but the characters weren't developed at all, the story quickly went to ridiculous, and my biggest issue aside from the complete suspension of reality and common sense is is there no emergency services in Russia? Is it common practice to not check a stuck cable car?! Wtf. Frozen used the time to develop the characters, there was a believability to the oversight, the characters were intelligent and the ending realistic. Break was making me laugh and how did she go from wanting to dump him and have an abortion to yes I'm marry you and have your baby, I already love it and have fantasies of running in a field with IT balloons. And she pulled the ring out of where?! Wasn't that what he needed to go back for 🤦‍♀️
  • I'm not sure if this would have worked better as a short. That being said it's pretty fun. The movie centers around a group of friends celebrating new years eve in the mountains. They bribe a worker to transport them in a wire car but theres an accident and It leaves them stranded. The rest of the movie of course has them trying to figure out how to get off the damn thing before they freeze to death. As usual they begin to turn on eachother and its basically survival of the lucky and most conniving. The movie has a nice, suspenseful atmosphere but it never ratchets up the intensity to a level where it seems memorable. All in all it's a fun but forgettable disaster pic that makes for a decent way to pass the time.

    3/5

This movie is unpredictable and I mean it's unpredictable in a bad way like nobody is that dumb. Also those young adults act in the most cliché way possible. Not even the attractive cast can turn this movie into a good one. I've seen better movies wirh less budget. This movie has barely any tension.

    Warning: Spoilers
I like it. Many people are not use to with Russian movies's different view from Western movie.
  • I couldnt even finish watching til the end because the acting and the dialogues were so bad, there is not even a word to describe it. The story is a good idea, although its similar to the movie frozen which is far better than this crap.
  • This is a nice movie. You are excited from the beginning to the end. I liked all the characters, in my opinion there was a good casting. The story has several moments, I really felt fear in several moments.

I think that the problem is that so many viewers are used to the perfect bodies, the perfect faces, English all the way and luxurious places that they don't accept different ways of making movies, different beauty standards, different cultures, different values.

IMO, this movie was not boring at all. It made me remember Cliffhanger, with Sylvester Stallone, it gets a 6,4 , maybe because it has american actors and locations.
  • Indeed you are not going to see something masterpiece, if you are just looking to watch a movie that worth the time or if you just like this kind of movies so this one gonna be a good choice, there is no problem in the acting like some people said and the actors are allocated well
  • WHY did they feel it was necessary to dub the voices into English???? It almost reminds me of those BAD Kung-Fu movies from the 1970's. In my opinion, the dubbing KILLED what could have been a pretty OK thrill ride. It was REALLY HARD to get past the HORRIBLE voices, but if you can get past that, the film is worth a watch. Sure...this film TOTALLY RIPPED OFF "Frozen" (which was a FAR BETTER movie) but if you have an hour and a half to kill, this one isn't that bad. It does have some good suspense at times. Overall I'll give it a 5 out of 10. Not GREAT...but not awful either.
  • Similar (almost exact) idea to the ski lift thriller "Frozen" but not nearly as well done. This story wasn't as realistic or coherent. The sappy subplot and silly song choices used didn't help either. That being said I was entertained enough to watch the whole thing. But go watch "Frozen" for a better "ride."

It's amazing that it took 4 people to write this garbage. Just watch Frozen, it's so much better.
