The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
(2022)

Dissapointed. Lacks any heart or authenticity
This movie showcases that you can have all the money in the world to create a series, but money doesn't make a good story--heart does. And it was missing. Along with good dialogue that makes sense. The episodes also felt slow. I am disappointed because this series feels shallow and poorly executed, and I wish someone else had went on to bring to life the incredible stories of Tolkien, such as was true with the films of LOTR. I think less budget on how unnecessary presentation (such as the characters perfect hair and makeup in the grunge of nature) would have been welcome, and instead, more focus on how it makes you feel as the audience. It feels forced and fake.

Gladiator
(2000)

Edge of my seat
I remember watching this movie for the first time when I was in high school and it was a groundbreaking movie was such an incredible actor that I will never forget that experience. What stands out the most is the extent of what people do to stand up for what is right.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
(2001)

My fantasy hook
This is the movie that first introduced me to the fantasy genre! Incredible film and it is very well written and especially for the films budget, you get above and beyond in quality that you can't match even today when compared to The Hobbit.

Rite of the Shaman
(2022)

Bridging reality with fantasy
This film is well executed. The characters do a wonderful job of drawing you in to cultivate a sense of connection. I cherish storylines that have deep meaning and films that surprise me within the storyline, and the Rite of the Shaman effortlessly ticks both boxes. This is a movie with a powerful message that is creatively woven into elements of fantasy.
