The White Tiger
(2021)

The allusion of killing the master
A great allusion of killing the master. "The world belongs to the brown and yellow men". It points to killing of the white person who oppressed India for generations. It is in essence India's story.

and absolute master piece the Pulp Fiction of India
Great actors, great cinematography and most importantly well intertwined plot. Remind of Pulp Fiction. It is up to you to detrmine whether the actors are good or bad, victims or perpetrators.

Recep Ivedik 6
(2019)

Hard to understand if you are not from a post-ottoman country
I am fro bulgaria and I am a die-hard fan of the recep ivedik series. He reinds e of so any people fro the neighborhood in which I grew up at. Of course he is an exaggeration. I guess people from western cultures can't understand why it is so funny they can not relate with the image of the typical post-ottoman lower class person. Recep Ivedik is a masterpiece, the director presents in a humoristic way everything that is both good and bad about our culture with a brave stroke. If you are a westerner you will find it hard to understand why it is funny, but believe me recep ivedik is very real person indeed

A Death in the Gunj
(2016)

Chekhov's gun in its best
When a movie begins with a gun on the wall it has to shoot by the end. And well it does and the blood is spatter all over the family tree. Family can completely destroy an individual to drive a person to madness. A good reminder of how a person has to treat his fellow man.

Secret Superstar
(2017)

brought be to tears
Literally i haven't cried on a movie for a long time, a cinematic masterpiece, revealing the strength of human charter, determination and the willingness to fight for justice!

Andhadhun
(2018)

Half-blind rabit a running thope
Why a rabbit? It is the running theme through out the movie. My personal opinion is that the rabbit is a trope. Just for your information rabbits sleep with open eyes so that they are always alert for danger. Think about this while watching the movie. Akash is neither blind nor seeing. He is in a limbo state. His visiion was taken after witnesing a crime and after a sort of redemption his eyesight is back. My theory is that in fact the makers of the movie are setting up a katharsis of a sort. What is more we are all left in the dark. We are blinded for what really happened and that's what makes the movie a masterpiece. We as viewers having eyes, still can not see the full extent of what actually happens in the physical world. We are also in a way "blind" for the motives and desires of other people. Sophie remains blind for Akash's real charecter, and so are we. Simi is "blind" when it comes to Pramod's motives of going to Bangalore and he is "blind" when it comes to her inner world. Maybe only Akash has the qualities of a rabbit seeing in the dark while sleeping and only he fully understands the world around him after his sight is back.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
(2013)

Indian cinema in its best
I have often been critical of western cinema here and this movie just proves my point. A masterpiece of a movie, nothing sweet, no cliches nothing unrealisitc. I wish the west could still make such movies.

Vikram Vedha
(2017)

Tired of western cinema? Check out Indian movies
As a westerner I have grown extremely unsatisfied with the plot and charachter development in western cinema. I have been watching Indian movies and Vikram Vedha strikes a cord that misses in western cinema. It asks questions vital to our urge to rationalize the world arounf us. What is ethical and what is not? The screenwriter leaves the question to each of us in the ending standoff scene, so that it is up to us to decide on what is right and wrong. The cast is wonderful giving their best. There are no unrealistic action scenes and the cinematography is on a high level. The only thing that would make the movie better is some better music, the choice of songs was pretty poor.

Pardeh
(2013)

A movie about liberty, made in a prison.
Pull the curtains, hide yourself, don't open the door, be afraid, you are being watched! A real portrail of a what it is like, when you are imprisoned. Panahi, wisely avoids making the movie overly political, thus letting all of us able to relate. No matter the issue in your life, fear locks you up. And it is fear to blame not the outside world. Sometimes we need an intruder to break us free, so that we can tear the curtains apart. Panahi, in line with the artistic tradition chooses a woman to be the bearer of liberty.

Drishyam
(2015)

A real superhero movie
In an era of superhero blockbusters Drishyam gives us a breath of fresh air. The main charecter is not all muscular good guy beating the bad guys. This movie presents us with a loving father, a middle class man who makes the best of efforts to defy political power by using just his mind. Ajay Devgn gives a real "pater familia" performance and in my humble opinion the Jeethu Joseph's script is to remain a classic not only for Indian cinema but cinema as a whole. You know you are waching a master piece when the play of less than 4 actors can give you goose bumps, and when weeks after seeing the movie you still ask yourself questions of the type "who was really guilty".

3 Idiots
(2009)

Breaking my personal racial steryotypes
To be honest before seeing this movie I had a very steriotipical view on Indian Cinema. You know, eveyone bursts into dance in the middle of the film and the good guys beating up the bad guys with super hero powers. Or the cheese plots of the poor boy marrying the rich girl... Well Hirani's directing totally shifted my views not only on Indian cinema but also helped me understand and appraciate Indian culture. For me it was easy to relate with the struggles of the charecters to face their family's plans for them as well as to survive the rat race that our lives have turned into, in spite of the fact that I have no asian background. Hirani manages to make a serious case by using explicit humor which makes the movie a real masterpiece.

Aquaman
(2018)

Plot written by a 13 years old
If you want a cliche plot about a superhero who beats up the bad guys, with characther complexity and dialogues like that of high-school theatrical performance than this is the movie for you. The only thing that can be priased about the movie is its special effects, and if someone is to get a prize it is the geeks who worked day and night to create a video game visuals which is like 85% of the content of the movie. Otherwise, excellently played by Jason Momoa although I feel like he is wasting his talent playing in cheese "kickass" cliche roles.
