Beachhead
(1954)

It Was A Pretty Good WW2 Movie !
I remember this movie because I saw it at Ten Mile River Boy Scout Camp about 1955-56 And I remember it because The Camp Master had made an announcement that they had a surprise for us that night. And of course all day long we wondered what it was.And of course we all came up with ideas that at the time seemed logical, but of course looking back seem funny now .And I remember it was a nice cool summer night and we sat down on the grass and then the movie started and it was Beachhead and starred actors who of course at the time I knew nothing about .And of course now I know that it was Tony Curtis,Frank Lovejoy(an underrated actor who was always good no matter what he did Mary Murphy,Eduard Franz (another fine actor who always did a great job )Skip Homier (Who passed away earlier this year RIP Skip)john Doucette and an actor named Alan Wells .And to a bunch of boy scouts having a chance to see a movie like this was a great thrill. And of course for years I remembered the story but not the name until one night I saw it on TV and realized it was the movie I had seen so many years ago .And it was as good as I remembered it .And since its been reviewed so many times I decided not to review it But instead did it this way okay? 10/31/2017 2:28P.M.

In the Heat of the Night: And Justice for Some
(1990)
Episode 5, Season 4

An episode that made me really and truly angry and still does
''And Justice For Some'Was a great episode about a drug dealer who hits a young boy on a bicycle and its seen by Deputy Bubba Skinner (Alan Autry)who gives chase and captures the smug and uncaring and coldblooded driver Troy Caldwell who shows no feelings about his victim .And is arrested and charged with the crime ,But theirs a problem hes a federal witness in a crime involving a major drug dealer and an agent Richard Donnelly tells them that they need Caldwell and will grant him immunity in the local hit and run case because they need him as a witness in the case .And I admit the first time I saw this episode I was totally angry and mad about this ''injustice''and was fuming through the whole episode and I admit I wanted to punch the actor (William Shockley)who did such a great job and that the ending was unexpected but considering what had happened was fitting justice for that character and that's my review .

Cimarron City: Beast of the Cimarron
(1958)
Episode 8, Season 1

I remembered the basic story idea but not who was the star
I always remembered this episode ,but I never knew the name of the story but I did remember the fight scene at the end in the cave And it wasn't until today (08/05/17)that I found out the name of the TV show and the episode .And its funny after all these years to finally discover the name of a show I remember from that long ago And I hadn't realized that Dan Blocker was in the show or that it starred George Montgomery I m glad I finally found out the name of the TV show and the episode .

Murder, Inc.
(1960)

One of the best true mob stories ever filmed !
I first saw this movie as part of a double bill (to be honest I forget the name of the other movie)and I had never heard of Peter Falk before but knew the other actors but every bodies attention was drawn to Falk s masterful performance as Abe ''Kid Twist''Reles was so scary that he totally dominated every scene he was in {.And to be honest in my opinion he should have won The Best Supporting Actor !It was a truly magnificent role that showed just how truly talented a performer he was And of course he showed how great he was in 'A Pocketful Of Miracles''''Robin & The Seven Hoods''The Great Race'' and of course as Lt.Columbo He was indeed a very talented and gifted actor/Thank you Peter Falk !

King Kong
(1933)

This is still the best version ever of the classic movie
As I'm writing this on 04/26/17 I'm watching the original King Kong(1933)which is in my opinion the best version of the story And what a great score by Max Steiner who really set the tone for the story And what a great cast headed by Faye Wray as Anne Darrow,Robert Armstrong as Carl Denham Bruce Cabot as Jack Driscoll Frank Reicher as The Skipper James Flavin as the first Mate ,Victor Wong as Charlie the cook Ed Brady as a crew member Noble Johnson as the Witch Doctor and the rest of the cast of unidentified stuntmen who did a great job in their roles as the crew and of course the scenes with King Kong and the T-Rex fighting and the other dinosaurs which for the time that the movie was made was truly spectacular to see.And lets not forget the magnificent production and direction by Merian Cooper &Ernest B Schoedsack and the mastery of the truly legendary Willis Obrien That helped make this one of the truly classic movies of all time. And I'm not ashamed to admit that every time I see it ,I still can feel tears rolling down my face Which proves that its still a true classic over the years .Thanks

Shadow on the Land
(1968)

Great political film that should be made available today
I first saw this film on ABC TV back in 1968 And even then it impressed me a whole lot .And what a great cast headed by Jackie Cooper,John Forsythe Gene Hackman (with hair)Carole Lynley Janice Rule Myron Healy and others as well including a young Johnathan(Lippe)Goldsmith (who later became better known as the demanding one in the beer commercial)and other actors as well and included an actor named Marc Strange of whom i know nothing about but he did a good job as the "hero"of the story And I hope that ABC will try and have this movie released on DVD soon so that more people can see it .I was fortunate to find a copy of it from a dealer on line and got it and enjoyed it even more this time .And if you can find it get it .youll enjoy it.

Air Force One
(1997)

Good story!Well done !We need a president like Harrison Ford today !
IM not going to go through the whole story since by now everybody knows the story. And my only comment is the same one I make every time I see it and that is when Harrison Ford at the end of the fight with Gary Oldman says "Get Off My Plane!"I always add the words"You Son Of A Bitch!"because i am sure he would have said that if the writers had written that in!And indeed it would have gotten a lot of applause from the people who saw it in the movies. And I told that line to friends of mine who have seen the movie and they agreed that it would been a great line for Ford to say. Thanks so much for the pleasure you gave movie fans over the years

The Rock
(1967)

review of the rock 1967
I must take issue with the reviewer who calls himself Edgar Allen Pooh from the gutters of Baltimore about Alcatraz being a ''country club''it wasn't that at all it was the place where prison authorities sent their toughest criminals to because this way they were all together in one place,And it was situated off San Francisco on an island that was buffeted by high winds and fierce tides that made it very unpleasant to live on.And I've been there (as a tourist) and it wasn't a pleasant experience at all to enter one of the darkened cells and stay there for just a little while because it was a very scary few minutes. And I advise him to google Alcatraz and see just what it was like to be there And Im sure hell realize just how bad a place that Alcatraz was

Brian's Song
(1971)

Truly Classic Sports Story About Friendship!
This is a great movie not only about sports ,but how two men grew to love and respect each other !And I first saw it on Nov.30,1971 and enjoyed it so much .The cast that was headed by James Caan as Brian Piccolo and Billy Dee Williams as Gale Sayers with Jack Warden in his Emmy Winning Best Supporting Actor as the Coach George Hallas and Judy Pace and Shelley Fabares as their wives plus actual members of the Chicago Bears as themselves all did a great job in this truly excellent movie! And if anyone didn't sob when Gale at the sports award ceremony accepts the award and dedicates it to Brian and asks everyone to pray for him or when he tell the team about Brians illness is only fooling themselves because admit it we all cried .And I still cry when I watch it even now And I have it on DVD and when ever i go away its one of several movies i take with me to watch on my portable DVD player. And its funny when people see me watching the movie they remember it as well So indeed it has endured and will be remembered forever as a truly great movie !

Miracle on 34th Street
(1947)

My Favorite Movie Of All Time !
This is my favorite Movie of all time!I first saw it on TV in the early 1950s and while watching it with my father said "Daddy He Is Santa Claus!" And when my father asked me how I knew that I replied "because I know he is !"And my father didn't reply and at the end I turned to him with a great big smile and said"See Daddy I was right! He is Santa Claus!I knew it"And my father just nodded and then smiled .And to this day when ever I see that movie,I remember that little boy who knew that and believed in the movie and it makes me smile again .And what can about such a fine cast Edmund Gween ,John Payne,Maureen Ohara,Natalie Wood ,Gene Lockhart,William Frawley ,Porter Hall,Thelma Ritter ,Jerome Cowan Jack Albertson and the rest all did great jobs in the movie And Percy Helton who was another great character actor played Macys Drunken Santa in the beginning was excellent as well. This is a great classic movie that should be seen and loved by all generations.

The 20th Century-Fox Hour: The Miracle on 34th Street
(1955)
Episode 6, Season 1

Great TV production even though it was less then an hour
Like everyone I fondly recall the 1947 version with Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle and can remember seeing it on TV and telling my father "He is Santa Claus Daddy!"and when my father me how I knew that in my childhood innocence i said "I just know that Daddy!"and of course at the end i said "See Daddy I was right!" and even now when ever I have the chance to watch it I still enjoy it and as for the 1955 version since it was less then an hour they did the best they could and it had a great cast with Thomas Mitchell as Kris Kringle ,Mcdonald Carey as Fred Gailey,Teresa Wright as Doris,Sandy Descher as Susan(who had a role as the little girl in Them!In 1954)along with a great supporting cast including Dick Foran,John Abbott,Hans Conried,Ray Collins Whit Bissell and others as well and this was a good version and while they had to cut some things the cast did a great job .And I must take exception to an earlier comment from another reviewer who said that it was a cast of unknowns !While I hate to say this he was wrong because the cast was composed of reliable character actors who all did a fantastic job in the little time they had to work with And I really enjoyed this

Matt Houston: Vanished
(1984)
Episode 2, Season 3

One of the best TV episodes ever done
I still remember this episode when it aired on ABC in 1984,and how it kept me glued to my seat from the first moment and I remember the scene when they find a child's body and the officer says that it was a blonde girl and that my first reaction was "Thank God"and then I realized that this was somebodies daughter and I was stunned at my reaction ,And that final scene when the Lts in church and Buddy Ebsen came in and just put his hand on his shoulder and didn't say anything and then the door opened and the little girl came in I said again "Thank God"and really meant it because never before(until the MASH Episode that ended with the news about Colonel Blakes plane being shot down) had I been so moved to tears and when I came to work on Monday and asked if anybody had seen the episode a lot of people had and we spent the whole day talking about it and what our feelings were about the episode ,And I had seen James Olson act before but in my opinion this was one of the best roles of his career,I hope it will be shown again because it was a great and memorable episode

Dragnet: The Big Little Jesus
(1953)
Episode 17, Season 3

I still remember this episode even after all these years
I was about 8 years old when this episode was shown, and even now 60 years later,I still remember it.And it stands out even now in my memory .And even though at the time I didn't know who the actors were,I still enjoyed it.and when I purchased the DVD of Dragnet,I found the episode on it and watched it again and enjoyed it even more .And when Dragnet did it in 1966 I watched it again and enjoyed the episode again and it was nice to see that some of the actors who had been in the original were in this one as well. Its one of my favorite episodes of all time. And I hope that more people will see it,so that they to will enjoy it as much as I did

The Well
(1951)

Excellent Classic Movie ! Well Done
This is a great "Little Movie" about a story about a Little girl who falls down a long forgotten well. And how both sides allow their own racial prejudices to tear the town apart.Until both sides realize that only by working together can they save the little girl. The movie was made in 1951 and starred Richard Rober as The Sheriff,Christine Larson,Barry Kelley and Harry Morgan (of MASH Fame)as the prime suspect since he was the last one seen with her.And also in the great cast were actors who's faces are known but not their names and in particular Maidie Norman as the girls mother did an excellent job as did Robert Osterloch ,Tom Powers,Lane Chandler,Michael Ross ,Ernest Anderson and Gwendolyn Laster as the little girl were all excellent.I highly recommend this classic story for everyone to see. I first reviewed this on Amazon.Com on January 29 2012 just after I purchased it ,but I felt I had to review it again on IMDb

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark
(1973)

Still Scary ! After All These Years
The first time that I saw it was back in 1973 and I was about 17.and considered myself an adult .and was watching it in my bedroom with the lights off and indeed before long every time,I heard the usual noises in a house ,I could feel the sense that something was there in the darkness even though I knew nothing was there. And at story's ending ,I went to bed but still couldn't sleep because I guess I was thinking about the Creatures that inhabited the darkness. And the next day I was talking to several friends and they admitted as well that they had the same feelings as well. The story was great with Kim Darby, the late Jim Hutton,Barbara Anderson ,Pedro Armendariz Jr.and of course William Demarest whom I knew as Uncle Charley all doing excellent jobs.If you can the VHS Or DVD copy get it.And Im looking forward to seeing the new version to see if it can compare to the original.

Helter Skelter
(1976)

My review of Helter-Skelter
This is without a doubt one of the best made for TV movies of all time Because it shows how the authorities were able to solve one of the most horrifying crimes in US history And indeed the cast none of whom could be considered "stars" all did an outstanding job in their roles. And in particular Steve Railsback as Charles Manson created a role that will be remembered forever. Also good was veteran character actor George DeCenzo as Asst DA Vincent Bugliosi who's put in charge of prosecuting the Manson Family. Also excellent were Nancy Wolfe as Susan Denise Atkins Marilyn Burns as Linda Kasabian who's testimony was largely responsible for the conviction of The Manson family. And indeed the entire cast was excellent and included many faces that were familiar to movie fans including Paul Mantee as Sgt Oneal(who gained some fame as the star of Robinson Crusoe on Mars his only leading role)And in the role of Judge Older was actor Skip Homeir. And indeed the end of the first part shows a sneering Mansons face which even now is quite scary.Irecomend this movie which is far better then the 2004 TV Movie of the same name.

He Walked by Night
(1948)

Excellent Movie That Holds Your Attention Right From The Start
This is a movie that even after the passing of so many years stands out as an excellent example of documentary style film making.Because unlike a lot of movies it doesn't waste time in getting to whats going on And indeed from the first scene when a police officer on patrol surprises a robber in an electronic store and is killed by him which of course sets off a massive search by the LAPD to get the killer responsible. The cast was headed by a young Richard Basehart as the killer, along with a young Scott Brady as Sgt Marty Brennan and James B Cardwell as Chuck Jones who are assigned to the investigation and also featured many well known character actors such as Roy Roberts as Captain Breen ,Whit Bissell as Paul Reeves,Byron Foulger as Freddie in Records Section,Anne Doran as a Dispatcher,a young Jack Webb as lab technician named Lee who later came up with the classic TV Show"Dragnet"among the cast and there were many others as well in the cast who later became familiar faces in Movies and TV appearances and the narration by Reed Hadley as well added to the greatness of the cast. But of course it was the performance of Richard Basehart that makes the movie memorable because he kept you interested in what he was up to and also made you wonder why he did what he did.And the final chase sequence in the sewers of LA was excellent and those sewers were also used at the end of the movie"Them"about the giant ants made in 1951 .And in fact an actor named Harry Wilson who was in"He Walked By Night" as a prison inmate also appears as a patient in"Them" and indeed only recently when watching it again did I spot even more actors who's faces I knew but a lot of times didn't know their names and indeed this movie had a lot of the best character actors that could be in one movie. And at a running time of 79 minutes packed more excitement then most movies do today at 2hours.If you have a chance to get this movie do so because its an example of movie making at its best.

The Mummy
(1932)

Review of The Mummy 1932
I first saw The Mummy back in the late 1950s and was impressed at how scary At was .And having seen Frankinstein a little bit before it I knew who Boris Karloff was and watched the movie and the scene when The Mummy comes to life was scary then and still to this day when I watch it on DVD having purchased The Mummy Collection when the set came out its still scary! And the movie even after all these years still stands out as a true horror classic .The entire cast is excellent from Zita Johann,David Manners Arthur Bryon Bramwell Fletcher who's mad scene after The Mummy comes to life is still scary after all these years! Edward Van Sloan who was great as always in what ever part he did in horror movies and Noble Johnson as The Nubian Servant added to the eeriness of the cast. The movie indeed is a true classic

Death of a President
(2006)

brief review of the film
I heard of the movie last year and was of course quite curious about it and while on vacation in June in SanFrancisco found it in a video store and when I came back to purchase it the next day it was already gone. And after searching in my neighborhood for it was able to find it and was able to get a copy of it and watched it today. And it was excellent because it looked so real that it was hard to believe that none of it was true. And the way the real footage of President Bush and VicePresident Cheney was put in the story made it all more believable. And since it was cast with unknown actors all of whom did excellent jobs in their roles that helped to make it even more believable. And in my humble opinion I think that this movie should be shown uncut on TV so that more people should be able to see it.

The Undying Monster
(1942)

the undying monster 1942
the first time I saw this horror classic was on TV in the 1950s and it really scared me particularly the ending when the monsters face is shown as it appears on the side of the rocks .And I couldn't sleep that night because I kept seeing the monsters face. And after for several years of searching for it I went to a movie show in New York City and found it and of course purchased it.And have watched it several times over the past years .And indeed enjoyed it even more. And the entire cast from john Howard heather angel James Ellison halliwell Hobbes and the rest all did a spectacular job.And the spooky music and foggy sets added to the creepies of the movie .Excellent Movie Classic

Betrayal from the East
(1945)

well made and interesting movie everyone did an excellent job in their roles
the first time i saw this movie was when I was about 8 years old and even after all these years i still remembered the movie even though I couldn't at times remember who the stars were and it wasn't until I was looking through an old movie book that had all of the 1940s movies in it did I see a brief review and several pictures of it And found out who the stars were. And quite recently at a movie memorabilia show in NYC I asked about the movie and was able to find out that it was on DVD.But the man didn't have a copy of it but told me would bring it to the next show. And he did and of course I purchased it and watching it again made me recall how good it was.The stars were Lee Tracy,Nancy Kelly,Regis Toomey and my favorite Japanese villain of all time Richard Loo ,If you see it anywhere my advice is pick it-up regardless of the cost.
