The title is the lead character's name, and the symbol И can be seen as a Cyrillic letter as well as a mirror image of the letter N. In more ways than one its effect ties in with the premise that the lead character is a Russian double agent, because by combining Western letters with Cyrillic letters the name itself becomes symmetric, and hence looks the same from two opposite directions (from the left and from the right).
