Cillian Murphy recently had some choice words for his film Red Eye (watch it Here), a Wes Craven-directed thriller that was released back in 2005. But he wasn’t entirely negative. So that got me thinking: Is Red Eye a good film? Or is it more in the so bad it’s good category? I personally saw Red Eye in theaters and have always had a soft spot for it. But if Oppenheimer‘s own Cillian Murphy has an issue with it, maybe it’s worth a second gander. So let’s see whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between as we revisit Red Eye in the video embedded above!
Scripted by Carl Ellsworth, who crafted the story with Dan Foos, Red Eye has the following synopsis: In the wake of her grandmother’s funeral, hotel manager Lisa Reisert is waiting to fly back home when she meets charming Jackson Rippner at check-in.

Cillian Murphy's latest role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" has garnered significant buzz and critical acclaim, with some predicting that his intimate, complex portrayal of the man behind the atomic bomb will earn him an Oscar nomination. Though Murphy is undoubtedly brilliant in the biographical epic, the Irish actor has had over 25 years of preparation for the role through a number of projects in film, TV, and theater.
Murphy, like many actors, began his acting career on stage. In 1996, he made his stage debut in Enda Walsh's play "Disco Pigs," which was later adapted into a feature film starring Murphy in 2001. By the early 2000s, the actor took on several roles, but his role as Jim in the post-apocalyptic horror film "28 Days Later" propelled him into Hollywood. In 2005, he starred in "Batman Begins" and began what would become a decades-long collaborative friendship with Christopher Nolan.

Abel Ferrara's Fear City (1984) is playing on Mubi June 19 - July 18, 2016 in the United States.Abel Ferrara’s first feature film, 9 Lives of a Wet Pussy, which I have not seen, was a late-70s porno made three years before his cult hit The Driller Killer. Paired with the director’s politics, his debut is likely an orgy of contradictions: rugged but titillating, primal and intellectual, feminist yet exploitive of women’s bodies. Ferrara’s most profound work isn’t political in any usual sense. His films don’t have a message or agenda, and if any other filmmaker were to make them, they would be mute or problematic—shocking sex and violence without significance or pathos. He has a unique way with images and cuts, creating meaning through feeling, and not the other way around. He often works within the confines of genre and exploitation films, but never feels imprisoned.

Joan Collins in 'The Bitch': Sex tale based on younger sister Jackie Collins' novel. Author Jackie Collins dead at 77: Surprisingly few film and TV adaptations of her bestselling novels Jackie Collins, best known for a series of bestsellers about the dysfunctional sex lives of the rich and famous and for being the younger sister of film and TV star Joan Collins, died of breast cancer on Sept. 19, '15, in Los Angeles. The London-born (Oct. 4, 1937) Collins was 77. Collins' tawdry, female-centered novels – much like those of Danielle Steel and Judith Krantz – were/are immensely popular. And if the increasingly tabloidy BBC is to be believed (nowadays, Wikipedia has become a key source, apparently), every single one of them – 32 in all – appeared on the New York Times' bestseller list. (Collins' own site claims that a mere 30 were included.) Sex...

Fear City
Written by Nicholas St. John
Directed by Abel Ferrara
USA, 1984
New York City holds a large cinematic history of being a hotspot for noirish sleaze, a stage for a morally ambiguous society held together by a justice system without empathy or remorse. The playground was manifested in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver as a window to the subversive end to the American Dream, a place underneath the hopeful symbols of the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. The apocalyptic mood of Scorsese’s revelation was transplanted into the works of Abel Ferrara, a Bronx-born local whose early focus on the deep evils of his immediate landscape labeled him a mainstay in exploitative film. After The Driller Killer (1979) and Ms. 45 (1981), Ferrara continued his narrative strength of depicting the consequences of homicidal justice-seekers with Fear City, regarded as a relative failure due to its mainstream compromises without mainstream appeal.

Tragically, the sharks eventually died of alcohol poisoning.
It was a given that Syfy's Jersey Shore Shark Attack would be a bad movie, but the question is ... is it a good bad movie? Surprisingly, yes, for the most part.
Thanks to a game cast, appropriately dumb dialogue, and some astoundingly bad special effects, it ends up trashy fun ... until it eventually wears out its welcome.
Jeremy Luc as "The Complication"
Things get off to an eye-rolling start as we meet the lead characters, the excruciatingly named The Complication (Jeremy Luc), Nooki ( Melissa Molinaro), Pauly Balzac (Daniel Booko), and Donnie (played by Joey Russo, who mugged Meg Foster for her eyes).
Fortunately, the level of satire rises a notch after that cringe-inducing roll call.
The Guidos get into the typical Jersey Shore shenanigans (they're after A.S.S. "Alcohol, Sun, Sex"), but because this is family-friendly Syfy, it stays at a...

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.
The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh.

File this one under “I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner”. From John Shepphird, the mastermind behind “Chupacabra Terror”, comes the timely genre outing “Jersey Shore Shark Attack”, a movie about, um, sharks that attack, er, the Jersey Shore. For star power, the filmmakers cast Tony Sirico, Paul Sorvino, Jack Scalia, Joey Fatone, and William Atherton, though the heavy lifting will be dumped on a cast of relative unknowns. We’ll get to them in a moment. But first, the official synopsis: Many years ago, hundreds of locals and tourists were massacred by giant man-eating sharks in the infamous 1916 Jersey Shore attacks. To get an idea of just how far we’ve all come as a nation — or, more specific, as a nation of drama-loving TV sponges — consider the home-viewing options that were available to viewers in the spring of 1990. For Richard Chamberlain fans, there was the doctor-drama Island Son; for Grieco groupies, there was the 21 Jump Street spinoff Booker; and for people who loved disappointment, there was Wolf, a cop show starring Jack Scalia and absolutely no wolves. The prime-time grid wasn’t all bad, of course: The Simpsons and Seinfeld had just made their debut, and a handful of late-eighties dramas (thirtysomething, China Beach, L.A. Law) were still kicking around. But for the most part, there wasn’t a lot of TV for grown-ups, unless you counted Matlock and Murder, She Wrote, which were for waaaayyy grown-ups.All of which goes to explain the fizzy-headed clamor that greeted Twin Peaks...
