The following piece contains spoilers about “Killers of the Flower Moon”
When Cara Jade Myers found out she was cast in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” after multiple auditions and then almost a year of production delays forced by the coronavirus pandemic, she couldn’t help but get emotional.
“They kept talking. But I didn’t hear anything after that. I was just crying and nodding my head and smiling,” the actress, who is a member of the Kiowa and Wichita tribes, tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview.
Based on the book by David Grann, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic about American greed and the genocide of the Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma. The investigation into the murders – at least 60 tribal members died during the so-called Reign of Terror, although the actual number of deaths could be in the hundreds – led to...

Scorsese has always felt like a director born from the streets, in both the literal sense and the metaphorical one. Scorsese rose from the streets, made his name in them, and made films about the greed and ambition of men who lived in those streets. From the alleyways of Brooklyn and the bars of Boston to the offices of Wall Street, Scorsese has shown us that the evil, greedy nature of man can come from any corner of American life. Now, with Killers of the Flower Moon, Scorsese shows us that greed and evil were not born in the streets,...

The following post contains spoilers about "Killers of the Flower Moon."
The horrors inflicted upon the Osage people during a string of ghastly murders throughout the 1920s are among the worst atrocities ever committed against Indigenous Americans. Anyone familiar with U.S. history during the Old West will know that's saying a lot. Based upon the 2017 book by David Grann, director Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" uncovers the systematic infiltration of nefarious white men into the lives and affairs of the Indigenous Osage Nation after vast deposits of oil were found on their land. The enormous wealth the Osage possessed led to a string of mysterious deaths that were always deemed accidental or never investigated in the first place.
As the murders piled up, men like Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Bill Smith (Jason Isbell) married into Osage families and waited patiently for their share of the...

In a recent interview with GQ UK1, Scorsese said that these movies are not cinema, but manufactured content that is harming the culture and the art of filmmaking.
Scorsese, who is currently promoting his latest film Killers of the Flower Moon, an adaptation of David Grann’s book about the Osage murders in 1920s Oklahoma, revealed that Warner Bros. wanted to make his 2006 film The Departed a franchise and asked him to keep either Matt Damon or Leonardo DiCaprio’s character alive for a sequel. Scorsese refused, saying that he wanted to make a film that was complete in itself.

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn’t quite make the splash it was hoping to make when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year, another movie that made its debut there (to much greater success) is Martin Scorsese’s new anticipated drama Killers of the Flower Moon. This film brings a collaboration of Scorsese’s two prominent go-to actors of his career, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. Both of them have worked together previously, portraying father and son in 1993’s This Boy’s Life from director Michael Caton-Jones. However, the standout performance that audiences have been raving about is Lily Gladstone, as DiCaprio’s Native American spouse.
Apple has recently released a new trailer for the drama. And the official synopsis reads,
At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight.

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons turned the Cannes Film Festival into a glamorous date night. On May 20, the husband-wife duo attended the premiere of "Killers of the Flower Moon," the highly anticipated Martin Scorsese movie Plemons appears in. This marked the married pair's first time walking the red carpet together at the annual event, and they coordinated outfits for the special occasion - Dunst wore a vintage strapless Chanel dress and diamond necklace, while Plemons matched in a classic tuxedo and bowtie.
After snapping sweet red carpet photos with his wife, Plemons climbed the Palais des Festivals steps to pose with Scorsese and several of his costars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, and William Belleau. Brendan Fraser, another standout from the ensemble cast, was not present for the festival. Martin Scorsese may like to think of “Killers of the Flower Moon” as the Western that he always wanted to make, but this frequently spectacular American epic about the genocidal conspiracy that was visited upon the Osage Nation during the 1920s is more potent and self-possessed when it sticks a finger in one of the other genres that bubble up to the surface over the course of its three-and-a-half-hour runtime.
The first and most obvious of those is a gangster drama in the grand tradition of the director’s previous work. Just when it seemed like “The Irishman” might’ve been Scorsese’s final word on his signature genre, they’ve pulled him back in for another movie full of brutal killings, bitter voiceovers, and biting conclusions about the corruptive spirit of American capitalism. “Gimme Shelter” may not have made it into the final cut, but the chugging bass groove...

The long-awaited trailer for the latest Martin Scorsese project, "Killers of the Flower Moon," is finally here. The Apple film about a very dark part of America's history is based on the 2017 book by David Grann: "Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI." Time magazine picked the title as one of the top 10 non-fiction books of 2017.
It's the story of the Osage Nation, which was resettled in Oklahoma in the 1800s after its people were forced off their own land. There was oil discovered on the new land, however, and it made the Osage Nation very rich. One of the wealthiest members of the Osage Nation was Mollie Burkhart, who married a white man named Ernest Burkhart (played by Leonardo DiCaprio). At the time, the only way for outsiders to get their hands on the money was through marriage. Then the murders...

Martin Scorsese reunites with longtime muses Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in the first trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the upcoming Western epic based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.” Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the drama focuses on a series of Osage Nation murders over oil rights and the newly-formed FBI’s investigation into the killings. The supporting cast includes Jesse Plemons and “Certain Women” breakout Lily Gladstone.
For DiCaprio and De Niro, “Flower Moon” marks the first time the Oscar winners have worked together in a feature since Michael Caton-Jones’ 1993 drama “This Boy’s Life.” Both actors played fictionalized versions of themselves in Scorsese’s short film “The Audition.” De Niro earned Oscar nominations for best actor by starring in Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver,” “Cape Fear” and “Raging Bull,” winning for the latter.

Oscar season may have wrapped for the calendar year 2022, but Best Actor winner Brendan Fraser is still enjoying the fruits of his recent career labors. On Thursday evening, “The Whale” winner appeared at the Greenwich International Film Festival’s inaugural Inspiration Talk and award ceremony in Stamford, Connecticut where he was honored with the Giff Inspiration Award “designed to honor artists who inspire others through their craft or philanthropic endeavors.”
As People reports, during a wide-ranging chat with broadcast journalist Hannah Storm, Fraser was characteristically open about what’s next. So, post-Oscars win, what does the Canadian actor have on the horizon? “At the moment, I don’t have anything — I’m really being picky right now,” Fraser said.
After a grueling (and often emotional) Oscar season spent stumping for Darren Aronofsky’s heart-wrenching drama and speaking candidly about his own personal connection to the material, Fraser has certainly earned a little respite.

Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" finally has a release date. The long-awaited true-crime film is heading to theaters this October before it eventually starts streaming on Apple TV+, and we already know how long it'll be.
"Killers of the Flower Moon" - which boasts a sprawling cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, newly minted Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, and Jesse Plemons - is based on the bestselling nonfiction book of the same name written by David Grann. It tells a story set in 1920s Oklahoma when members of the Osage Nation were targeted and murdered by a serial killer, seemingly because of the Nation's ties to oil. The string of crimes became known as the Reign of Terror. Grann's book tells the story of how the modern FBI came out of the investigation into those murders.

Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon is weighing a potential Cannes 2023 world premiere, as previously tipped in Deadline’s The Dish in July of last year, we can confirm.
The notion of a Cannes bow for the Western crime drama, marking Scorsese’s latest of many collaborations with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, remains “highly speculative,” one source tells us. And it’s not clear whether the film would play in competition, should it touch down in the South of France. But this would mark Scorsese’s first Cannes debut in decades, on the heels of such iconic titles as After Hours and Taxi Driver, which respectively claimed the Best Director prize and the Palme d’Or.

Hot on the heels of production for their upcoming “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have boarded a new project at Apple Original Films, Variety has confirmed.
Scorsese is attached to direct an adaptation of New Yorker journalist David Grann’s upcoming nonfiction book “The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder” for Apple. Grann also wrote the book “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which investigates a series of murders of Osage people that took place in the 1920s, as well as “The Lost City of Z,” “The Death of Sherlock Holmes” and “The White Darkness.”
“The Wager,” which will be published next April, tells the story of the 1700’s British naval ship of the same name. Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are teaming up once again for an adaptation of another book from David Grann, the author of “Killers of the Flower Moon” – this time teaming on a project called “The Wager.”
Apple Original Films has acquired the rights to the book, which will release next year, and like their collaboration on the upcoming “Flower Moon,” the project has DiCaprio attached to star and Scorsese to direct.
Grann’s book tells the true story of a British naval ship called the Wager from 1742 that crashed and washed up on the coast of Brazil, marooning 30 survivors for months before they managed to make it back to shores and safety. But the story takes a turn when a few months later, a different set of just three survivors arrived in Chile and told a different story, saying that the men were not hero survivors but mutineers, and that...

“We are thrilled to finally start production on Killers of the Flower Moon in Oklahoma,” said Scorsese. “To be able to tell this story on the land where these events took place is incredibly important and critical to allowing us to portray an accurate depiction of the time and people. Martin Scorsese fans have known for quite awhile the filmmaker’s upcoming “Killers of the Flower Moon” will mark a reunion with longtime cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, but now comes word that “Flower Moon” will bring a new key creative into the Scorsese fold for the first time: Jack Fisk.
