While Netflix's slick but empty "The Electric State" has added to an already bleak streaming landscape, Jake Gyllenhaal is having nothing short of a streaming renaissance. Gyllenhaal's creepy sci-fi horror "Life" is a hit on Prime Video at the same time his and Michael Peña's action thriller is crushing it over on Max. Now, yet another Gyllenhaal-led thriller is ascending the Netflix charts, meaning the actor has claimed a spot in the rankings of the biggest streamer in the game at the same time he's dominating rival platforms — though he's had a bit of help with his latest streaming triumph.
2015's "Everest" is a survival thriller based on the real 1996 Mount Everest disaster that saw eight climbers lose their lives while trying to reach the highest point on Earth. The movie follows two expedition groups who are hit by a freak storm on their way to the top of the titular mountain.

The Everest movie highlights the reality that dead bodies of climbers who die on Mount Everest are often left where they fall. Over 310 people have died climbing Mount Everest and more than 200 bodies remain on the mountain. Retrieval attempts are dangerous and costly, and mountaineering tradition often dictates that bodies remain where they fall.

As the movie demonstrates, any expedition to Everest is fraught with danger. However, it's because of the extremes that the mountain represents that some things that would be considered standard procedure on most expeditions are simply unfeasible. MGM has moved “Bill & Ted Face the Music” back two weeks to Aug. 28 to avoid opening against Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet.”
MGM announced the move Friday, a day after Warner Bros. pushed “Tenet” back from July 31 to Aug. 12. Disney also delayed the theatrical release of “Mulan” for a third time from July 24 to Aug. 21, while Paramount’s “Without Remorse” moved from Oct. 2 to Feb. 26. Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse,” stars Michael B. Jordan as John Clark.
Most movie theaters closed in mid-March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Major cinema chains in the U.S., such as AMC, Regal and Cinemark, have been aiming to resume business in July but studios appear to be worried that viewers may be reluctant to return despite safety protocols such as reduced capacity, social distancing and mask-wearing being enforced.
Currently, there are 1,072 U.S theaters open, including 284 drive-ins, up 20% from a week ago, according to Comscore.

We have some excellent news! Bill & Ted Face the Music, at long last, is happening. For real this time. This is one of those projects that has been discussed to death and we understand people being afraid to get their hopes up. However, original stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have both personally confirmed that the long-awaited sequel is finally going to head into production this summer. What's more, is they confirmed that the movie will be heading to a theater near you in summer 2020.
The video kicks off with the two gathered at the Hollywood Bowl proclaiming that, together, they make up the band Wyld Stallyns. That alone is delightful. But things get progressively more excellent as both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves continue on, as they confirm that production on the movie will finally be getting underway shortly after a long, long wait. More time has passed since these stories per published than had passed for the whole history of the Doom Patrol to that point. As with so many things in corporate comics, in 2018 we’re now deep in second- or third-order nostalgia, memories of particular revised versions of things that have been around, and generating income for some corporation, for five or eight decades.
I tend to think Grant Morrison, and his Doom Patrol characters, would be just fine with that: they already think the world is random and bizarre and mostly unbelievable, a thin scrim over chaos and madness and conspiracy theories and various kinds of unlikely mysticism.
Doom Patrol was always pretty weird, right from the initial ’60s version by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani. Introductions in the current editions of the Morrison run lean heavily into that: the idea that this team was always “freaks” and “misfits,...

Fans erupted in cheers two months ago when it was announced that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter would reprise their roles as “Ted” Theodore Logan and “Bill” S. Preston Esq. in “Bill & Ted Face the Music” — but now, Reeves has warned the third film might not happen.

The actor said the challenges are financial ones, not creative ones, adding that he had ideas for the older version of Theodore Logan.

It's been 27 years since Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. were thought to have written the song that will save the world. It's about time we find out how that played out.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are officially returning as Bill & Ted respectively. Whoa! After nearly 30 years and a lot of back and forth talk, the duo of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are returning to their iconic roles as Bill & Ted in a new film. It was officially announced today that Bill & Ted Face the Music is officially happening.
The film will see the director Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) join Reeves and Winter with Chris Matheson as writer. This third film in the Bill & Ted franchise will also have Steven Soderbergh serve as executive producer.
This third installment in the franchise will follow the two leads as middle-aged adults as they once again time travel to complete their destiny of saving the world with their song. To me, it kind of sounds similar to the second film, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. It was reported that George Carlin‘s character Rufus would be a “deep part of the [third] film.”

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will reprise their roles as “Ted” Theodore Logan and “Bill” S. Preston Esq. in “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” the third film in the franchise.
The first film, “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” was released in 1989. The sequel “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” came out in 1991.
Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have penned the script. Dean Parisot will direct. Steven Soderbergh is executive producing alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr., and John Santilli. Scott Kroopf will produce with Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce of Hammerstone Studios.

“Bill & Ted Face the Music,” which is currently in production, will follow the two men no longer the time-traveling teenagers we’ve come to know — they are now responsible adults. They’re writing dozens of songs but not one seems to stick, until someone from the future tells them that only their song can save the world. Soon, they embark on a time-traveling adventure to save the universe.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!” Reeves and Winter said in a statement.

Reeves is currently in production on the third installment of “John Wick: Chapter 3,” which will be released May 2019. He will also next star alongside Winona Ryder in “Destination Wedding.” His other notable credits include “Matrix Trilogy” and “Point Break.” He is represented by Wme.
Winter also starred in “The Lost Boys” and has transitioned to a writer and director with credits that include the Epix documentary “Deep Web” and the VH1 documentary “Downloaded.” Most recently, he directed and produced two shorts documentary films, “Relatively Free” and “Trump’s Lobby.” He is represented by CAA and Forward Entertainment.

‘Most Excellent!’ 27 years after we last saw the totally radical pairing of Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq., Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are now confirmed to reprise their roles in a third Bill & Ted movie, I can reveal. Bloom is launching sales in Cannes on the long-gestating time-travel comedy, which is called Bill & Ted Face The Music. The movie is likely to be one of the hottest properties at the market.
Currently in pre-production, the movie has been written by the franchise’s original creators Chris Matheson (Imagine That) and Ed Solomon (Men in Black) with Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) confirmed to direct. Scott Kroopf (Limitless) will produce together with Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce of Hammerstone Studios, with Steven Soderbergh serving as an executive producer alongside Scott Fischer, John Ryan Jr., and John Santilli.
